I like that new strength and a little more. Yep the hydraulic clutch do have a stiffer pull. Nice to have one bike back on the road.
Thank you for the part 2 video. I hv hydraulic on my 03 ultra. I think u may hv saved me a 2 time process when i need to put in new plates in the future. Just hope to remember to look for the thinner 1st plate kit. Look forward to future videos.
Awesome thank you!!
Ive recently put a Barnett clutch and uprated pressure plate on a 93ci Dyna. The engine has a stage 2 and retune on a rolling road and the old clutch would slip in higher gears. Its a cable pull clutch and boy is the pressure plate a hard pull but as you say, everything really hooks up solid. No more clutch slip. Ive lost some of that feel in the friction zone on slow maneuvering but the benefits outweigh any losses. I spent a few days squeezing tennis balls to bring up the strength in my forearm but as you say, you soon get used to it.
Exactly!!!! Thanks for the watch and the comment I appreciate it!!
Good deal.
Where’d you find that s&s air filter cover?
Getting ready to tackle this job. Ordered the same Barnett clutch kit you have there. Did you leave the Damper Spring and Damper Spring Seat in behind the last skinny friction plate? Thanks!
Honestly yes I did. I did not swap that one out
No star pattern bolt removal? Wow explain.
Nice video! I have '16 Ultra Classic (2nd owner), 46K miles, rode it 200 miles clutch went out. Watched this video and ordered the Barnett extra plate clutch kit....glad I did b/c prior owner was running 9 friction plates & 8 steels with no damper spring seat or damper spring!!! Now, can't let out on clutch without a loud squeal in 1st gear. It already had the Barnett Spring Conversion Kit on it. Any ideas?
Oh wow, that I am not for sure about. Let me chew on that one. Wish I had it in front of me to look at
With the extra plate kit you remove all hardware and spring in the back do not reuse any of the old ,soak in the oil first what you will run in primary I soaked mine 2 days installed with heavy duty spring and lockup with no issues at all
2015 ultra limited
Question, I just put these plates in my 17SG. Did your clutch grab hard at first? When I go to release the clutch, it's like it grabs all of a sudden kind of making the bike jerk forward. Almost making it impossible to practice slow speed maneuvers.
Yes, definitely was different then the worn out clutch I took off. Took me a mi Ute to get used to it but I recall it was like that when I first got the bike, I just forgot because it wore out over time.
@@YogisCycleService cool. Thanks for the response. Hopefully it becomes a little smoother!
@@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures it will it will just take some breaking in.
Where is your shop? I can't find anything on the internet.
I am out of Concord NC
@@YogisCycleService Got it. Was hoping you are closer. I'm in NJ. Thanks!
Put the Barnett extra plate clutch pack in with a new Barnett equivalent Harley stock spring. I did the install to the letter, used redline primary fluid which is supposed to be the best there is for fluid and 20 adjustments later I still cannot get the clutch to work correctly. It will not find neutral, it drags in first gear with the clutch all the way in....I've set the center throw out rod anywhere from 1/8 turn out to 1 full turn out....I have tried going the other way....bottom the pin and then leave it there....Im thinking backing the screw out is not the answer but turning it in is.....every time I bottom the pin and leave it there the shifting gets better, not great, but better. Im going to try going in with the pin 1/8,1/4,1/2 and see if there is any noticeable difference without the clutch slipping.....I have tried everything else and nothing works.
Yeah some seem to be like that. I had a 2013 road glide I worked on that was doing the same thing. Just make sure your also putting full slack in the cable each time you adjust it.
Did you back the clutch cable back down. I heard some guys not doing that and it engages the clutch.
