Two carries in a row....???? Yikes! At least its over with early on. This video is just what I needed to get an idea of what my run would be like in a week and a half.
Good luck at your race, have a great run! Let us know how it goes.
Just wanted to say thanks you guys. You all inspired me a few years back to get off the couch and do a Spartan race. I've done a few now, even finished my first Beast last year. Now I'm signed up for my first Spartan Ultra at the Perfect North ski resort near Cincinnati. Not gonna lie, I'm really nervous, between the steep hills and trying to stay hydrated my nerves are a bit shook. But my adopted motto is Always Can, so I'm working my butt off training and following your tips so I can go out and give it my all. Thanks again guys, hope to see you out on the course someday!
You are welcome! This is the exact reason we decided to record the process and races a few years ago. So glad we helped you and it sounds like you are becoming a master yourself! We've done a ton of races and still get the pre-race excitement/jitters every time - especially at an untested venue or distance. You've got the right mindset - just keep moving. Everything starts hurting/aching at some point during the second lap of the ultra but "Always Can" will get you thru. Keep training, have some fun, and let us know your results. We'd love to hear how you did, your experience, and what you thought of the race, course, venue. Hope to see you out there too! AROO!
Great footage as always! Fun course, trail run was a blast on Sunday. Shapirg up to be another great season.
Yes sir! More sitreps on the way, and thank you for the details!
This is great - looking fwd to the rest of race season. Aroo!
Aroo!

I did mine today for the first time, I enjoyed every obstacle
Outstanding, and congrats!
Ready for the one next weekend in Burnett, TX near Austin
Excellent! Have a great run!
I just did it. That was so fun
Awesome! Congrats!
Can't wait for April Mtn Creek!
Same here!
Nice video you guys rock. Not surprised that there is nothing new to see on the course 🙄
Thank you!! And sadly, neither are we 😔
They need ANW people to build them some new obstacles
Awesome seeing Damer at the event - Mack you missed a fun one!
Yes he did! Next time for sure!
Looks like a nice flat course
It was!
are there supervisors at each obstacle? I didn't see any so how do they monitor if each contestant completed the course oe not?
There should be supervisors at every obstacle, yes. For the most part there are, but on occasion there might not be at one or tow obstacles. Sometimes in our videos, the judges or safety folks are right off camera, usually behind us from the camera POV.
Question: never done one of these races. Do the obstacles change which ever city this goes or are they all the same?
Great question - the obstacles will largely be the same, however, the number and order will change per race type and per location. The longer the race, the more obstacles there are. The shortest distance (Sprint 5k) will have the least obstacles and will not have some of the hardest/coolest ones like the Beast 21k has. Some locations will have location specific obstacles like the Killington Death March, but for the most part you'll get standard stuff, appropriate for the distance you signed up for. Two heavy carries in a row. Were they at least separated by a chunk of running?
Suprisingly, not all all. You can see the bucket carry start from the end of sandbag carry. That was new.
@@OCRKings oof. Bet your arms were torched but the end. Individually doable but the cumulative effect wears you down when they stack em. I can remember hoping for a jog section to straight up recover a bit
I'm planning to go to my very first one this year because they seem fun, but I am not in good shape lol. Would anyone recommend on still going?
Absolutely!
This made me sad. The only good one left in usa is tough mudder. And they were bought out by Spartan a few years ago. Im going to have to run on mnt bike trails to stay in shape and not die of old age. Thanks for sharing this with us.
We're in a tough spot. Less and less race franchises out there, and less and less locations for the ones that are left so it seems. We'll be out on the trails too.
But you guys have other options like bonefrog. Are they staying strong? We've lost three pretty large ones Starting with warrior dash, a very fun and challenging run, then spartan race in all its forms , then terrain race a little less professional but also fun and challenging. And now Rugged Maniac which I would have bet would be around forever. Is this a sign of the times ? Even the small amateur runs are disappearing.
Thank you for the preview of the 2024 Sprint....looks about the same as always.
Our pleasure! And, yeah, sadly, looks about the same.
I need to get very fit to have any chance I can’t do 30 burpees
Take your time and do what you can. We love to see people out there just pushing themselves. Regardless of how many obstacles they complete or how many burpees they do. You can even skip obstacles (or burpees) in the open waves - its just about getting out there, getting out of your comfort zone, and having some fun! It might not seem like fun in the middle of the course or after an obstacle put the hurt on you... but you will love it at the finish line!
Starting off 2024 right
Indeed!
they were wrong for putting sandbag and bucket carry back to back
Agreed, that was a lot on the arms
What, no laser guns?? 😂
Hahahah! "Rookieeeee!"
looks easy
Compared to many other Spartan locations, yup. And the weather was perfect too. Flat and fast.
Where's the other guy?
Yeah a bummer Mack couldn't make this one. Next time!
