- How to remove and replace the bump feed head on a ryobi 40v weed eater with a fixed line head. Replacing the bump feed head can be a little tricky if you don't have a good way to twist the head off, my recommendation is to stick with the bump feed or the fixed line and never switch.

I have the old original weed eater head bump style, tried changing out to the dual head today. Can't seem to get the new head to go on . What am i missing
Very helpful thank you🙏
I'm glad that I could help you out.
How do I get this damn thing back on?
A couple of beers and a you can do it mentality. If that doesn't work, I don't have another suggestion.
I need to know too
@@DIYwithCamlmaoo real that really helped. I’m gonna do a line and see if that will help bc this is possing me off
Spray WD-40 inside there is two little notches that hold it in place
@@zakkbekolay4279 lol bro it’s frustrating for sure
To lock it back (unless ur the Incredible Hulk) Spray WD-40 inside there is two little notches that hold it in place on the pole side of the spinner and it’s easy after that
You saved my sanity with that tip.
Omg me too I’ve been wrestling with this dang thing for a frustrating amount of time of time!!
Yeah but as everybody knows if you use the bumpfeed more than three times it basically welded SHUT!!!, it's impossible to twist. How about giving a video about getting this damn thing to come off but not using a brand new, easy to turn, head.😅
this wasn't a brand new head and has been used and abused. It's a terrible design that Ryobi should be ashamed with.
Mine won’t budge
Trying holding it in a vice or ask someone to help hold it. It's really tricky to turn.
I had to use a vice
Struggling to get it back on 😡😡😡
@Mrbrown37012 it's tough to get it off, but it's even harder to put back on. Make sure it isn't at an angle and turn. Sounds simple, but it isn't. Why did Ryobi design this?
I had to put on gloves
The cut away is what gets me. Quite tight is an understatement
I was doing a video on how to switch heads that took ages to finsh the videoo as planned. It''s such a bad design.
Sorry I don't mean to sound rude I'm just pissed. This is probably the best battery operated weed eater I've ever had however I've gone through three of them now because the head will not twist off and using tools only destroys it.
Totally get that it sucks. This thing has been used for years now, and there is no issue with the bump feed welding shut. The green nob is getting hard to turn when rewinding as it's all scuffed up. It also doesn't get any easier to remove ans replace the head.
So what if it doesn't turn? Mine will NOT budge.
Make sure there isn't any old line stuck in the mechanism. Remove the string that you just put in and line try turning the red piece with no string in it. Line the arrows back up and put the string back in. Don't put the string in too far and try turning again. I have had that happen, and I'm not sure why it doesn't turn, but resetting and trying again always works.
@@DIYwithCam mine will not budge
@@paulshenosky5819 have you tried using a vice to hold the base while you turn the top of the head?
Of course my dumb ass just bought it and turned that trying to learn how everything works and I never used it and cannot get it back on now🤦🏻♂️😐
I dislocated my thumb like 6 months ago and never did anything about it so I don’t have the strongest grip to twist it…
WTF WHO WANTS TO DEAL WITH THIS BULLSHIT EVERYTIME!?🤬
Guess I’m just weak!
