  • Fleas are incredible jumpers, but their talents don’t stop there. With the ability to sense warmth and vibrations, they're perfectly adapted to find blood-filled mammals like dogs and cats. What they do next will give you chills - and hopefully, nothing more.

    So for the first time in my life 2 summers ago I had the life changing experience of somehow getting a flea infestation in my house. It was one of the most F'd up and stressful things iv ever experienced. Being totally serious, it messed me up for a while. The thing is.. THEY DON'T DIE. THEY GET EVERYWHERE. And just when you think they're gone.. THEY COME BACK. Hours and hours of vacuuming. Washing clothes and linens. Vacuuming more. Scratching your head. Obsessing over getting your bed and room clean. Obsessing over looking at your food because your paranoid that they jumped into it. (which they do). If a washed piece of laundry happened to fall onto the carpet.. Wash it again. I know it sounds crazy.. but I'm telling you guys.. if you've ever experienced a flea problem then you know what I mean. Not allowing people into your home for fear of them bringing them home and infesting their own house. Literally thinking about it stresses me out lol. God I hate fleas. Thank god that issue got resolved. 6-8 months of literal hell.

      However, make sure its the non toxic, "green" kind. Forget the bombs and insane sprays. IF you have an air conditioner , OR if its cold at night where you are, like close to or below 0, Freeze the house out. Open every screen. Honestly, if you can afford it my #1 suggestion is get an expert to come to an inspection, and if they confirm everything insist they spray. Sorry man. as much as it's a nightmare.. the sooner its over the sooner life begins again. TEA tree oil spay for your hair. and body. comes in a little spray bottle.

      I'm going through the same thing right now, and it's a huge pain in the ass. We've completely emptied and cleaned the house twice, sprayed everything, put powder all over the floors, and they're still there. They came from my roommate's dog. It's really hard to coordinate cleaning everything at once, too, because there's 6 of us in the main house, and 3 in the basement. We're getting a professional exterminator to come work on it in a few days. He'll have to come twice, and he'll fumigate the whole house. I'm really fed up of having to deal with this crap. It's been going on since November.

    When my cat had fleas I wore white tube socks and walked around my apartment to catch fleas. After I combed my cat, I dipped the flea comb into a cup of soapy water and used a stick to get them off the comb. It was satisfying to watch the fleas drown.

    You have to vacuum the whole house, the car, and wash the pets bedding EVERYDAY for at LEAST 10 days, this is to make sure you get rid of all stages of the cycle of a fleas life. If your vacuum has bags in it you have to dispose the bags everyday. You also want to treat the yard if you have one. Fleas don’t live on the animal so flea baths and treatments won’t do anything if you don’t also kill all of the fleas living in your home off. After ten days you can overkill it by using carpet shampoo and/or a flea bomb. Always go to a vet for flea treatment and shampoo, too many animals have died from over the counter treatment (from hartz specifically).

    • @bobach6083
      @bobach6083 Před 3 lety +1

      Dawn dish soap bag and condition coat correctly as needed. Shampoo vacuum all carpets with ammonia. Get Wondercide and use for indoors and get yard treatment. The stuff is spendy but I'm telling you...it is the best thing I've ever used for fleas and I fought them for months upon months.

    • @bobach6083
      @bobach6083 Před 3 lety +1

      Also it helps to bar off carpet and keep you animals on the tile if that's possible and treat the carpet and everything else while bathing the little buddy. I've been having a lot of success with our new puppy. Especially after the Wondercide.

    A family of 5, we had fleas for years, but suddenly all the fleas had gone, we had done nothing to get rid of them, except so seemingly the next door neighbor’s cat had gone after the they had moved house. Lowest winter room temperature of our house is 9c, but been through the winter before and fleas was yet in place, then suddenly all the fleas had gone without any obvious reasons!
    Writeable DVD disc goods has a transparent plastic disc included, I broke 1 of them into a triangular shape, so with the full DVD disc clap on a clothe that has flea, I keep hold onto it and can see the fleas underneath the see thru disc, the fleas can’t move or barely able to move under the disc. Next I hold the triangle piece and use the pointed sharp end to kill the fleas after I shift the disc slowly to let the flea exposed to the ledge rim of the disc (I taped up the hole in the centre of the DVD disc). I had killed over hundreds of fleas this way. Each night I sit by my bed and wait for the fleas to come out from the carpet to my pant’s bottom rims, I use the DVD disc to trap the fleas and stop it from escaping.

Interestingly though, I seem to be the flea-magnet. Two other ladies that work in that office don't seem to notice. The question is why?

    You can quite easily catch them if they hop on to your legs/arms and crush their head with your fingernails. Diligent vacuuming kills them too.

    The video was a great effort. However part of the fleas invincibility is to do with their exoskeleton. Most small insects can be easily crushed like the ant or termite. Fleas wil survive your hardest squeezes between the finger tips. One needs to use finger nails to finger nails to clip together and pop their shells. Most folks don't know that and so many fleas just survive attempts to squash them.

    I cleaned out an empty parmesan cheese container, and then filled it up with ½ salt and ½ baking soda and sprinkles it everywhere, let it sit for a day, vacuum and re sprinkle, because that salt dries up their eggs and larvae and vacuuming got the live guys, and yes, empty your vacuum, into an outside trash can, and I was did of fleas in two weeks, I did keeping sprinkling, even after I didn't see anymore, just to get any eggs or larvae, I may have missed. Also, I'm never getting furniture from someone with pets again, it was a biotch to have to keep vacuuming inside and out of my couch

    after my cat died we had fleas attacking us, it was so annoying, i wore long pants, long light-colored socks in multiple layers so i could stop them from getting to me and so i could try to get rid of them while they were trying to burrow into my socks, they were easy to spot, and i found a few ways to kill them lol, after we had enough we put some chemicals in the house that killed them all, i really think those were my cat's fleas cause she died in the house, so it's possible...

    Absolute evil. I actually met a “holistic vet” that had no idea how big of a deal fleas were and how hard they are to get rid of. I’ve spent thousands to rid my house, yard, and dogs of them in Florida. Never ever take your dog to a dog park or dog beach. Fleas love both locations. Once they take hold, it’s a nightmare. Sucks having to treat dogs with a toxin just to try to keep them somewhat in check. They still find a way to wreak havoc, however. Especially with carpeted homes and upholstered furniture/dog beds.
