The reason why Goku vs. Frieza took 19 episodes to finish is because the anime was about to get caught up with the manga at the time, so Toei had to waste time by slowing down the show's pacing and adding filler until they have enough manga chapters to adapt.
I swear, most of that man's biggest tropes, are just from mistakes, or lazyness 😂
@Trojianmaru That wasn't Toriyama's fault tho. That used to happen a lot cause Anime never followed the seasonal format until recently. They just put out new episodes every week until it ended.

That's what filler is for. Gives the source material room to expand the story and the producers the creative freedom to flesh out some lore. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Toriyama was inspired to create Frieza due to the events of the Japanese economic bubble that had occurred at the time he was writing the Saiyan Saga in the late 1980s, with Frieza specifically being based on real estate speculators, which Toriyama claimed were "the worst sort of people."

Yep, late to the party here lol, but final form Frieza and goku's interactions here in the abridge are extremely iconic.... I know for a fact that little kouribo (spelling wrong, but the man behind Yu-Gi-Oh abridged) was pretty proud of his performance with all that, at first at least.

So, in regards to Yamcha, he hasn't actually had a single line since his death against the Saibaman, cuz he didn't have a voice actor for a bit. Don't remember why exactly, but TFS had fun with this by interrupting Yamcha, first when they discussed the wish on who to resurrect and Piccolo said "No one cared what Yamcha thinks!", and him being interrupted from joining "Row Row Row You Boat"
I vaguely remember hearing about a disagreement between the original voice actor and TFS, but I don’t remember the details

One of the best things this season teased was Freeza's list of notable hero quotes, where he would recite the number of times someone would say a notable line. He has never met someone like Goku so the fact that "i'm gonna deck you in the schnoz" line kinda catches him off guard and honestly you can't really do banter with him because Goku is all action and not talk.
Everything Kirby likes... dies.
The biggest objection I have is calling Scorpions, SCORPIONS a one hit wonder.

One of my favorite lines from this episode was, after Freeza parted the waters to get to Vegeta, "See that Vegeta? Now for my next trick, I'm going to make an asshole disappear!"
I just love the way they wrote that line.
Fun fact Vegeta vs Frieza, Frieza was only using 1-2 % of his full power. Also that third time Vegeta was going on about a super Saiyan Frieza deserved it due "Vegeta explain!"

@@demonkingnetsu4045 no he made it a point to brag about it to Vegeta. Frieza then made a point in saying that he would use 10% against Goku (yes spoiler I know)
@@kirkcasteel7070 if you're going off of the original English dub, just know they screwed up on the script, misinterpreting what the characters actually said in the Manga and sub version. Which is one of the many reasons why I HATE the original English dub of _DBZ._ I prefer _DBZ Kai_ because it's a lot closer to the actual story.

Freeza was toying with him. Yup.
This was yet another fight where Vegeta goes in thinking he'll be the boot end of the equation, but winds up on the ass end of the ass kicking.
But such is his lot in life. He either completely dominates his opponents, or he gets utterly dominated by them. There's basically no wiggle room.
That explains the confidence
Little Kuribo with Frieza's one-liners was amazing. Goku's ability to come in and ruin them by stupidity superiority is his greatest victory.
The whole entire exchange between Goku and Freeza near the end. Everything about it = perfection.

7:15 honestly, there's a VERY good chance, mewtwo looks like/was modeled after this final form of frieza, tbqh. Lol.
I'm kinda just now realizing the connection, but it certainly makes sense.... Mewtwo was always portrayed as evilly aligned, at first, as well as the epitome of strength in original first Gen pokemon... It is very likely they drew inspiration from this form of frieza tbqh.
Edit: It's a good rule of thumb to remember, dbz DEFINITELY came out before pokemon, and pokemon itself was first hitting America when the most well known English dubbing of dbz was being released on cartoon network/toonami/etc. But original Japanese dubbed dbz came out late 80's, iirc.
Pokemon came out at best around 94 in game form for Japan.... Maybe a little earlier. But took off in America around 96 or 97. At earliest 95 America-wise.

So I’ve been avoiding talking about this since I did the unbearable task of watching a SUBSTANTIAL amount of Freeza saga. (Think the manga was catching up or something.) It slows to a CRAWL. Not a speedy crawl, I mean SNAIL slow. (Watching Goku charge a certain move is the bane of my existence.) I think they actually REMOVED a Vegeta speech about being a super saiyan. I think he makes FOUR or FIVE speeches to Freeza throughout his many transformation fights. And that “OH MY GOOOOOOD!” That Freeza delivers as Vegeta is dying, was EXACTLY how I felt. And I have to say the OG Freeza saga just has NOT aged well. Watching the whole 4.5 hour fight with Goku and Freeza is just ABYSMAL. Really prefer DBZA or Kai’s no filler. (But even Kai can be too slow.)
Also Vegeta’s best one liner. “Yknow what? All of you better duck. Because I’m about to turn left and I don’t want to SMACK you with my dick.” There are MANY amazing Vegeta one liners but that one REALLY takes the cake.
We are in for a FUN ride.

Freiza was introduced with him counting the amount of times he's heard speeches but we never got a number on the amount of times Vegeta told him "I'm a Super Saiyan" speech. I mean, I guess we can count ourselves but Freiza doesn't do it for us and I kind of wish that he had so that he only killed him to save himself from hearing it a 100th time or something. His killing shot could be him saying something like, "9999!" maybe add Final Fantasy numbers to indicate it as damage as well.
Later Goku could have given him the same speech and when Freiza hits Goku with one of the lasers it could say "10 000" but otherwise not cause him to Flinch.

If a Saiyan was in the ''constantly on the verge of death, but never being able to die'' machine from the first legitimate Deadpool movie, would they continually get stronger? On a similar topic, is their ability to get stronger after nearly dying ignored if they actually die? Like, Goku trained with King Kai, so no big surprise he got stronger then, but if he hadn't trained, and just waited around until he was brought back using the dragon balls, would he be stronger than when he lost to Raditz? Complain if you want, but in my book, a two v one battle that still needs a kamikazi move to kill the one guy, is loss. Also, this is year old video, I'll be surprised as hell if anyone comments on this. If you do, like the comment. It's the only notification I have turned on.

I've been in nothing less than paralyzing dread for two years, waiting for the story to continue, warding off suicide because of the lengths the show went to to betray Penny. I just can't believe anyone could see what happened and have EXCITEMENT for what was coming. It wasn't just "sad" or "tragic," it was legitimately badly written, and it needs to be undone... but I know Rooster Teeth won't do that.
I can't STAND the idea that people are just willing to move on and accept it, like they don't care about her, like she doesn't matter, while I've been needing to remind myself every day why I shouldn't write a letter and throw myself off of a bridge, because I think about it every day, and it's such a stabbing, horrible pain, like losing a CHILD must feel.
