- I test out my DIY micro camper and go van camping. I cook up a meal with a fish I caught from the sea, veg that I grew in my garden and honey that I harvested from my bees! It was so much fun!

I just finished watching the van build playlist and throughly enjoyed how you kept it real, how when you didn't know how to do something, you didn't pretend to and instead either sought help or researched how. Adding the tidbits of your adventures while taking a break from the van build and showing your frustration it all made for an engaging series. May your travels be full of fair winds and many blessed days.

Alex it’s great to see all the work come together. Just make sure you crack a window/boot open if you are cooking with gas inside, carbon monoxide risk is really high without it.

I have to confess I started watching the can conversion mainly for the comedic factor and didn't think it would turn out that great. I apologize because it actually looks really good and functional. I am blown away by this episode where I realised you've made your own honey, grown your own tomatoes and made your own knife. I didn't give you enough credit but you should be incredibly proud of how everything has turned out. I've just come back from a trip to Spain in my self converted van, and let me tell you how important ventilation is. Source out a roof vent that you can run to bring air in or out in conjunction with the wind deflector idea. A lot of moisture is created when you sleep in the van and that can make things mouldy, so a fan or vent will be crucial. Also think about a heating solution if you are going to do winter van life. Hands down my favourite channel on CZcams atm. Been awesome to watch someone who’s never done it before go through the whole van conversion process and end up with a sweet result! Would love to do something like this in the future👏

Hey Alex, for the slide out worktop to cook on, not sure on the room you have underneath the draw once shut but maybe you could get some fold up legs that you cut fold under the draw once shut and store and when out fold it out for more support
It is great to see the van in its fully usable condition, you should be very proud of what you have built :)
Hi Alex, to help prevent the rain getting inside when the backdoor is open. You could makeup some side waterproof curtains from tarpaulins or an old fishing bivvy. A really good van conversation underway well done mate.
Get one of those pop up shade shelters that would fit over the back of the van. You can get them from 2 x2 metres and up. Quick and easy to put up....good luck with the travels

Essential additions. Pan splatter guard.( can also be used to put a plate on over pan to warm, and on its side as a wind deflector for stove)
A stainless steel moka pot ( use with ground coffee no need for kettle)
Some strong magnets some of those large beach towel clips and a couple of metres of black curtain lining. (Make blackout blinds / cab divider, wind blocker, light weight blanket etc )
I just fitted windows to the slide doors in my van. Makes a big difference. Looking forward to your travels. Ed.
I feel like you need some sort of tarp that clips onto the rear door and you can hang it up and pull it around like a shower curtain to protect you from the rain. And also you might need to install a chair leg that you can pull out to give more support for the table when pulled out.

Suggestion.. If you want to add a bit of support to your slide-out drawer, why not add a couple of adjustable legs, either to the very end or half way along. The legs could drop down through holes in the drawer. You could even use a couple of adjustable banksticks. Dave, Roving Rods👌🏁
Great job, loving your change of direction. a cheap fix to keep the rain out could be to get a shower curtain and attach it to the door and body of the van with some magnets?

Nice build👍 I cook inside my work truck all the time using the same fuel canister & a backpacker's stove; if you're careful & crack a window for ventilation it works. Greetings Arizona, U.S. 🏜️ I hope you have many happy years in your nomad rig.

Well done Alex, I've done exactly the same as you know (Fish, veg, honey) and its fantastic. That moment at 21:40 where to poor hiker trudges through the mist in the background gave me a "Morecambe and Wise" flashback (older viewers will know what I mean). Great vid. Wonder if a small, fold away, camping table would be an idea so you can close the drawer and still cook outside under the back door if it's raining. Save the inside of the van and your bedding and mattress smelling like a kitchen ... Looking forward to the euro trip

Nice van! You should make some plastic sheets on the side of your van. Some sort of “tent” idea. So when you open the back you are fully covered from the elements!
I absolutely love your videos, it’s just incredible how many smiles nature and wildlife can put on a persons face! The fact you have harvested you’re own honey from your bee’s, picked your own tomatoes and caught a fish from a the sea mist just feel like you have achieved so much! You can get a splatter guard for cooking. You could also rig up something to go over the back door, with sides to the ground. Weather will show you things that might need adjusting. You are living the life Alex. Well done!😀💕🇦🇺
