Hiatal Hernia And Heart Palpitations

  • Is your stomach causing your heart palpitations? Probably yes. Finally a cardiologist confirms the association between hiatal hernia and heart palpitations. Watch Dr. Vikki new video on the topic.
    Summary of the video
Stomach-related palpitations can be caused by a hiatal hernia or inflammation of the gut, and can be treated through natural modalities to address root causes without drugs or surgery.
    00:00
If you've experienced heart palpitations, pressure in your chest, and visited the ER only to be told your heart is fine, it may be related to hiatal hernia syndrome.
    01:23
Stomach bloating and inflammation can cause the diaphragm to pinch the heart, leading to palpitations, a condition called gastric cardio syndrome.Expand
    03:32
The vagus nerve, which goes to both the heart and stomach, can cause palpitations if overly stimulated or irritated, but is also responsible for slowing the heart and needs to function in a balanced way.
    04:37
The natural pacemaker in the heart keeps the pace right, but if the vagus nerve is irritated and heart rate goes too low, other parts of the heart will stimulate and cause heart palpitations or ectopic beats.
    05:39
The program deals with anatomical changes, inflammation of the gut, positioning of the diaphragm, and normalization of vagus nerve function through natural modalities to treat stomach-related palpitations without drugs or surgery.
    06:55
Aspirin can cause inflammation in the gut and proton pump inhibitors can prevent absorption of key minerals and vitamins important for regular heart rhythm, so it's important to consider alternatives and address root causes.
    08:36
The root cause of stomach-related palpitations is often a hiatal hernia or hiatal hernia syndrome, which can cause pinching on the heart and change its location.
    09:34
People with stomach issues may experience palpitations that are often misdiagnosed as anxiety and treated with psychiatric medication, when in reality there is an easy solution.

I have been living an absolute hell for 10 years. The first 5 i was chair bound and barely made it through... The last 5 I still can't slep flat and have to watch every movement i make, everything i eat and all physically activity.... My cardiologist os the ONLY doctor that says its from my hernia. The other 25ish says its impossible... No matter how i explain it all, they just look at you like you're crazy.... I would do ANYTHING to get this fixed and move on with my life.

I'm on Beta blocks for this. I'm constantly saying that when i have a flareup with Gerd with Hiatal Hernia my palpitations get worse. They put me on Beta blocks smallest dosage 25mg of metoprolol tartrate. I already saw dr. Gupta and i agree 100% with him. I'm so glad this is getting traction because I'm sick of Gastroenterologists saying its not affecting anything and drinking Beta blocks for a healthy heart.

This has been my life for 6 months now. My heart suddenly palpitates during and after eating. I went to the ER in Tachycardia, but they said there was no evidence my tachycardia had anything to do with the heart itself. They thought I was just having an anxiety attack, pumped me full of Benadryl and sent me home a few hours later. They look at me and think I’m fine because I’m young and look healthy. But I know for a fact I wasn’t anxious until AFTER the palpitations had began…Sometimes I feel so much bloating and pressure in my chest and stomach that I can’t eat because I feel that full. I have chest pain often for what seems like no reason.
I just heard of hiatal hernia yesterday. I have an endoscopy in a few weeks so I’ll know if I have one.

Stomach palpitations/spasms and heart palpitations are cousins. My new palpitations were slightly different and told my cardiologist this. She basically ignored me and said I'm just feeling them differently. My doctor was listening to my heart when i had what I thought was a palpitation. He said that was your Stomach. Bingo. Im now convinced 90 percent of my palpitations originate from my gut. Now, how to fix it all?

I'm wondering can all these symptoms be caused by just unbalanced body muscles specially the abdominal muscles because all of these symptoms came out when I was doing abs exercises only for 3 weeks or that might be caused by a real hiatal hernia although I have made a upper gastroenterological barium swallow X-ray and it showed no thing !!!

I was doing swimming from about 6 years ago and I hadn't complained about anything none of these current symptoms existed. Once upon a time when I was doing abdominal exercises for 3 weeks and had finished my exercises and had gone to sleep suddenly I felt heaviness with breathing like I can't take it normally then I felt that my pulse was weak like I was about to loose consciousness then I felt numbness in every part of my body that was horrible from that night I'm no longer normal like I was before!! I have been suffering from a variety of symptoms like air hunger, bloating in the left side, heart palpitations even with minor physical effort like a rapid walk or going up on the stairs and many other annoying symptoms like permanent pain between shoulders in upper side of my back and recently I started to feel pain in the center of my back and lower back pain that's also accompanied with a pain in the neck. I started to realize recently that all of these symptoms maybe due to the muscles imbalance I did all the medical examinations none of them showed a real reason for my symptoms.

I have gerd, palpitations, especially ectopic beats and pvs, fluttering etc. It gets worse when im dehydrated, eat chocolate, drink alcohol, get stressed out, not enough sleep and worse is left side top chest pain after eating a big meal. I believe I had a hiatal hernia when I was younger and think maybe it came back? Also sometimes when I move in a certain position or lay down i get the ectopic beat. It makes sense it could be the vagus nerve. I also have a low heart rate most of the time but I was told by doctors it's because I'm athletic. Wondering if the hiatal hernia or ulcer is to blame?
