Been a fan of the snake since the eighties I always knew he’d make it back and impart the knowledge
Good ol Bill Apter. I was a total mark for the magazines as a kid.
I am so glad Jake is still sitting here with us telling these amazing stories. Jake is a survivor and inspiration to many, I would love to hear his pre wwe and territory stories in Mid South, Florida, Mid Atlantic, Georgia, World Class, and Stampede god bless Jake, keep rocking
This era - 83-84 Georgia is what made me a wrestling fan. The Garvin Jake feud was vicious. I look forward to finally meeting Ronnie in September.
I miss those days. When Wrestling was still great. I was around 7 or 8 at this time. ❤❤
Love Jake, Damian, and the DDT, the best finisher move, those years where the best for wrestling
Love you Jake, stay strong, you're still here for a reason.
I love hearing these storys from the 80s it's when I started watching wrestling and I remember those matches and promos
The super friends was my favorite cartoon in the 1980s….
Mine was Transformers.
"Brotha... Just grab a hold a me and watch me grow!" 😵💫😵💫😵💫 AYY-YOOO!!!.... PAAAAUUUSE!!!! 😖✋🏾🤣🤣🤣
seen Jake ,bundy, road warriors, wrestling 2,sweet brown sugar and more on one card in the late 70's ..at our high school in Ga ..saw him slither out the ring and it was the coolest.
Hands of stone ✊. Ronnie garvin. Underated✅
Tommy rich always makes me think of the cartoon ghostbusters boogeyman character lmao
Especially 😂when he looks drunk 🥴 screaming 😱 "all fired up"
This was a great time in wrestling .wish Jake all the best
Love the show Jake u are a legend and a great role model I often hear u speak of addiction and how awful u was and still at times I hear in ur voice that u have a lot of regret still and hard on yourself but I think the turn around u made is so inspiring and when I get inside my own head when alone to long I will watch clips that have u speaking on addiction and it truly helps I have been clean 5 years but I still have the dark moments if not for u and some of my family members I don't know where I would be so thank you Jake for being such a special human being u don't know what a great person u are
Jizzle the snizzle baybay wooooooooo lol
This show is Awesome.
I got up every Saturday at 6am to watch wrestling and the Super friends. The Legion of Doom was ran by Lex Luthor, the bad guys.
This is about a tag team and the adventure.
This episode had an amazing amount of great stories!😎🤟
Thank you for checking it out!
I have heard Jake's wwf stories a million times. GCW stories are a awesome and new
| am a big fan of “ The Road Warriors “
I have that Georgia set from late 82 to 83 before Black Sunday. People shit on Georgia because it wasn’t their heyday of the 60’s but the show was amazing. The insanity of Buzz Sawyer plus the always good Tommy Rich, Larry Zybysko just chews the scenery in everything he does and Mr Wrestling #2 was very over. Plus it’s amazing how many stars take a detour there from Piper, Tito Santana, Stan Hansen, Iron Sheik, Butch Reed, the Briscoes, Road Warriors, The Spoiler and one of my personal favourites The masked superstar who is both scientific and brutal at the same time. He was literally rag dolling jobbers around the ring but you knew he was working unlike the warriors who were legit rag dolling jobbers. And they had amazing jobbers from Mike Jackson, to Snake Brown and Mike Starbuck. And capped off with commentary from Gordon Solie who sold wrestling as a sport.
I had only wished I grew up with that territory instead of the WWF squash matches we got instead. Thank god our area got Stampede, because it was the only thing that could compete with the style of the territories.
44:13 Meanwhile, back at the Legion Of Doom!
Great episode guys! Keep up the good work! Lots of rich history to dig into. I had no idea Jake dated Missy!
Thanks, and looking forward to the next one!
Glad you enjoyed it
I'd love to see Jake get some booking power in AEW. God know they've barely used he or Lance Archer on TV in the last year (and Archer is pissed about it if you read his tweets on Twitter). That alone is baffling to me. How can you have a combination like Roberts and Archer on your roster and not have anything of importance for them?! Tony Khan is too busy booking his fantasy spot-monkey bullsh*t. Anyway, I think it would only benefit AEW to give Jake that kind of creative stroke. He'd turn chicken shit into chicken salad in a matter of weeks!
The Koloff story is wrestling gold
The first promo was 🔥🔥🔥
I love this
Wow I miss this era.
I think fans wanna see a organization same as the 80's .
On the stiff side and a bunch of brawlers who think they're tough guys.
Examples are.
Freebirds
Flair
Dusty
Jake of course
Murdoch
Sawyer
JYD
Sid vicious
One man gang
Bam bam Bigelow
And Jake in creative and a trainer. No stuntman goofy stuff, just tough guys with chips on their shoulder
#SnakeyBaby
Jake got all the babes! Missy, Sherri, Cheryl...and those who shall remain nameless. lol
They don’t call him the Snake for nothing
Rest In Peace legion of Doom…..
Can yall put the links to the videos u watch in the description?
That's a good call! We will do it for future episodes!
All you kidos out there youre looking at the ORIGINAL legion of doom including Jake Roberts who was a member.
57:15 What does Jake say Hawk was doing that causes Marcus to shake his head?
Discussing Hawk's personal struggles with addiction by the time he made it to the WWF.
@@SnakePitPod I meant specifically what did Jake say after Marcus went "So by that point, it was....."? I watched it back several times and can't tell what Jake said there.
@@chrishh5777 He said; "He was off in it.", meaning deep into the substance abuse.
The original legion of doom is the first heel stable ever. Not the four horsemen. The LOD was the best heel stable ever also
Jake when you coming to Kentucky
I would pay money. To sit at that table….. with 3 legends. Jake 🐍. Hacksaw and the million 💰 dollar man…. The storys. 👋. 3 legends of rasslin. 💯
I would pay money, too. So much great history.

I don't like the way Matt Borne gets crapped on nowadays. Yeah, he was wild. No wilder than many of the others wrestling at that time. Borne was an incredible wrestler and one helluva talent in terms of storytelling and character, yet all anybody wants to talk about is how f*cked up he was. And of course, Dark Side of the Ring will further exploit all of that with the Doink episode. It's a shame because the real legacy of Matt Borne is how great he was at his craft. Same with Buzz Sawyer. He and Brett were great, yet all anyone wants to talk about his how crazy Buzz was. He was also an innovator in the ring and a legit shooter who could take anyone he wanted to down. I just wish we didn't have to dwell on all of the addiction stuff sometimes. Yes, for some it was a downward spiral. For others, some people just like to take the edge off and get a buzz on. That doesn't make them any less than the rest of us. God knows I've done it myself.
One hell of an episode, by the way, and I'm not even all the way through! lol
Great post and I totally agree.
Im not trying to hate but just so this channel knows the background is not black snakeskin its actually black leather cowhide...and thats fine im just saying
Wait I’m confused? So Bret hart who was as clean as a whistle , made his opponents look great had technical wrestling matches and allowed smaller guys to be noticed is a fraud yet two guys that were pumped up on steroids , who hurt a lot of their opponents and injured them , and who introduced a lot of guys into the business who wanted those bodies so they took steroids to look like that plus also not being able to work - are lauded upon in a podcast. I don’t get it.
Me ha ha😊
Love this but to much advertising its,a turnoff and I don't watch this anymore sadely.
Jake cutting that promo was too much. Man, what happened to pro wrestling.
How did chicks think tommy rich was good looking lol 😂😂😂😂
Tommy had country boy charisma. That went a long way back in the late 70's - early 80's.
Jake DID NOT INVENT THE DDT!!!!! It was invented by Mexican Wrestler Black Gordman in the 1970's. Yes Jake perfected it but HE DID NOT INVENT IT.
If the Mexican who you say initially invented it didnt get the move over....and Jake did then Jake invented it.Stfu
why would you ever buy a woman a drink
I can’t say I like listening to this guy, not Jake, the guy doing the questions, he’s trying to get himself over to much, he’s talking too much and he isn’t a Sean Oliver.
It’s why as drone as a voice Hannibal has he is a great interviewer.
Ask the question and shut up…. Allow the guy to speak, if there is a second of silence say nothing….. allow the guest to elaborate further, you talk more than the guest and it’s then become a conversation and not an interview and you must understand the difference.
Did TBS save the GCW tapes? Were they taped over?. I ask, because all thats out there is VHS 📼 cable TV dubs [probably 4th generation vhs 📼 dub via tape trading]. I know wwe owns the library, but did TBS save GCW tapes? Anyone have a idea? Wwe network owns a TON of old territory tapes, and the old WWE network had decent selection, but NO Florida, NO GCW and they always had missing years for mid south and mid Atlantic. I stopped paying when the peacock arrived.. 🦚. I saw the peacock menu, wwe has REMOVED a lot of old stuff and have less territory shows 😢. Its a shame wwe wont put OUT EVERYTHING!! We dont care about perfect quality. I would like GCW in chronological order. You can buy memory sticka with tape trading gold, but wwe probably has the master tapes of many missing gems
TBS didn't own it
WWE has whatever TBS had in their archives, which were not complete. In 1992, WCW requested Georgia tapes from fans so they'd have clips to show on the 20th Clash of the Champions. WWE does seem to have some Georgia master tapes from 1983-84 as clips they've shown from the timeframe have been high quality.
Ole Anderson was allegedly so upset over Vince McMahon’s purchase of GCW, he burned most of the video library in protest.
@@InstagramAWrestlingHistorian on top of the ones he tossed into dumpster
WWE put out a episode or two in a upgraded resolution. But that’s it. They may own the library. But Vince hates Ole Anderson so if they do own the library it may not come out until Vince dies.
