    Nice job. I was wondering if the kit has provisions that will change the LEDs to yellow and red for warnings for the tach, battery voltage, oil pressure, and water temperature.

  • @m88231
    @m88231  Před 11 lety

    Yep-Yep!!! the best thing is, it will work for ANY application because you can change the configuration. With the blacked out window, you don't see any of the circuit boards. You are also not stuck with the round bezels like other units.

    I tried some different shades but they did not come out the way I wanted them, so they are white again. The gauges come in White, Red, Green and Blue. I think you can get them in combinations of colors as well but this may be through ebay only. You can call the company and find out what they offer.

      +Eugene Mitchell I did what you did and got the white gauges, I used the color film from a place on ebay, various colors..and they look great. I think it was about $2.00 a sheet, and they are about 8x11.

    I am currently having issues with some of the LED segments going out and getting replacements. The company is willing to get me the replacements, it is just taking a long time to get them. The LED's are not burning out but they are not lighting up. If you disconnect the gauge for a while and plug it back in, they come back on for a while then go out again. I have had this issue on only 2 gauges but this has been since day 1. One of their techs told me that the issue is a resistor pack on the gauges. The gauges are still a good, accurate gauge, I just wish I did not have to deal with the LED segment issue.

    • @m88231
      @m88231  Před 9 lety

      If I have to deal with this too much longer I will sell these and start to look at changing to an LCD display system of some type.

    • @m88231
      @m88231  Před 9 lety

      Alphonzo Mcknight Sorry for the late reply. My car has been down for about 3 months now. I have swapped out the transmission for a 700r4 and switched over to Vortec heads and intake. I am rewiring the engine bay as well. I thought this was going to be a project that would take a few weeks but its turn into several months. I still have to put the dual exhaust on it and the Zexel torsion rear end (limited slip differential).
      But having said all of that... Intellitronix has revamped their software and supposedly taken care of the issues I was having. I hope to have the car back on the road within a month and give an update.

  • @m88231
    @m88231  Před 10 lety

    I did try a couple of colors but they were not the right shade. I'm still looking for different shades that will work. I found 2 of the 3 but still need the correct yellow. But hey... the search is all the fun, right!

  • @poppetswarrior3185
    @poppetswarrior3185 Před 5 lety

    3 years later and Intellitronix has as many rebuilt systems as new on Ebay. I'm thinking they have issues, still getting the bugs and kinks out, OR, playing the odds on a few units being returned. Personally, I don't care for any of the digital systems.
    My hurdle and question is: My 1978 El Camino Conquista has a "Sweep" style speedometer. Every unit Digital advertises has the disclaimer, "Will not work with a sweep style speedometer." I understand the why: A sweep is slanted slightly back at the top. However, is there not a way to Dremmel or cut the back of the "Sweep" bezel to make the gauge system level?

    • @m88231
      @m88231  Před 5 lety

      The sweep style gauge cluster just doesn't have enough room. What I did was changed out the cluster in mine and then I put the digital gauges in. I also use the GPS Speedo adapter to eliminate any incompatibility with the gears in the transmission and the size of the wheels.

      Yes, I tried all of the colors but can't find colors that match in texture and opaqueness. I can find the Green and Yellow in see-through colors but the Red isn't. The last time I looked I was trying plastic folders (like for school).

      I have since bought and built my gauges. I bought some color filters from this guy on ebay..I bought 2 sets.. pick whatever colors you like:
      www.ebay.com/itm/130549592874
      I put them on like this:
      i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag5/Eighty1Camaro/gaugeslayers_zpsbde763dd.jpg
      And although a little hard to capture with my camera..this are quite Bold. I double layered the filters on some to make it richer:

  • @m88231
    @m88231  Před 9 lety

    I have spoken with Intellitronix again and they are supposed to be sending me out another set of gauges. They may be slow but they stand behind their product. I will admit that a part of the issues I had was operator error. The second or third gas gauge needs the dip switches set up for the manufacturer of your car. I forgot to do this for that set of gauges. Not I still had other issue but that particular problem was my fault. By the way... the price of the Create-A-Dash system has come WAY down on price. For the price I saw on eBay, I could see where it would be worth it. Maybe it will be good tis time.

    Nice work on dash, just wondering if the speedo digits and the sweep dial round the side go up and down smoothly under hard acceleration and deceleration or does it jump around a bit. I run the mechanical sender with mine but it's playing up so was going to switch to the GPS one. Cheers

    • @m88231
      @m88231  Před 10 lety

      I have not noticed any jumping around on acceleration or deceleration... however, at times it does take a few seconds to connect with satellites. So for a mile or two you may get a reading of zero. As soon as it has enough information, the numbers climb to the correct speeds. I've noticed this on clear days as well as cloudy.

    • @m88231
      @m88231  Před 7 lety +1

      broderp
      I am sure it is not illegal. Aftermarket gauges are sold all over the place. I saved my old gauges as proof of the original mileage though. Just in case someone want to know. I have replaced the engine, transmission and soon the rear end so most people don't care about the original miles. Even the insurance company doesn't care. they just want to know what the dash says.

    • @jimmygrant3212
      @jimmygrant3212 Před 6 lety

      You can get a sticker saying the new odometer was installed at X miles on the old odometer and the new odometer had X miles when installed. Or just keep the old gauge.

      Eugene Mitchell White because I want to revamp a classic car. I want a mature gentleman-like look (which the white text on black does just fine) but Its going to go under a lot of surgery! I'm thinking about unsoldering the signal indicators to make them larger and displace them. Do you think I should put a different color? They are just indicators for the warning lights I would still implement red. If the signal indicators are to small I might have to get an alternative indicator setup.
