    Put the cover back on, the relay can vibrate loose if you don’t, especially if you have a Diesel engine. They need three relays, right side , left side , and hazards. That’s the way they are in road tractors and dump trucks.

    I replaced the turn signal/multi-function switch, figuring the switch contacts had worn. I didn't notice that my hazard lights were working intermittently like my turn signals until after I had replaced the turn signal switch, and then proceeded to test all my functions. Since mine works intermittently, I'm wondering if the flasher unit relay is loose and making intermittent contact? I've decided to just buy a new flasher unit relay and make sure it's secure. Maybe I'll carry the old one for a back-up with my spare fuses if it is still good!?

    I have no power going into the flasher (1995 e350 RV) I am trying to sell this damn thing and now the flashers dont work... of course it couldnt just be a bulb or the flasher unit. I am being told I need to trace the wires back and there is likely a problem with the ground or wiring... I dont see how I will be able to accomplish this. Not sure if replacing the switch is worth doing at this point, but I sure could use some advice.. thanks.

    • @DavidsHowtosReviews
      @DavidsHowtosReviews  Před 2 lety

      Play with the switch
      Push it in slow some will start working just before the click
      If it starts working it’s the switch
      If you have no power still to the flasher.
      Then it’s not a ground
      Ck the fuse if blown u have ether a short to ground.
      If it takes a while to blow u have high resistance.
      Sometimes I can just throw leds replacements and that will help

    • @Sherry-jx9hs
      @Sherry-jx9hs Před 4 lety +5

      change the relay they are cheap at autozone you can get 4 there for ONE Ford OE and they are the same. If that don't work then you have to get into the steering column and take out the cluster switch and replace it. Make sure the fuse is good as well (check it first) then flasher then cluster switch. Cheap to expensive. Easy to harder

    I have a 2004 F350 and when I use my right or left turn signals my tail lights flash as if I have my hazard lights on could this be because of a bad relay shown in this video?

    • @DavidsHowtosReviews
      @DavidsHowtosReviews  Před 2 lety

      That sounds more like a ground wire in the back of truck
      Check and clean the tail light grounds
      Electric finds ground even if it’s going through another bulb to get to it.
      Or it’s possible the wires are crossed.
      If there was work done on truck I would check to see if something was done to cause this.

      The blinkers and hazard is tied in together
      Brakes not as much but on some years it’s possible
      Ck for voltage at the brake light switch.
      If you have voltage I would say test the switch for continuity when the switch is pressed in.
      If the switch is fine and you have voltage
      Check the ground to make sure it’s ok
      Or run a new ground press the brake pedal see if lights work

    • @DavidsHowtosReviews
      @DavidsHowtosReviews  Před rokem

      Just going to run down some stuff even if you probably check it already
      Start with the fuse at the fuse blocks
      Check engine compartment and inside cab, look for blinkers and the hazard
      Then check the relays for blinkers and the hazard make sure you have power going In and out of fuses and relays.
      The if all good you will need to check the blinker unit just because you hear it clicking doesn’t mean it works, they are electronic and that clocking is fake you need to make sure u have the pulse of electric going out .
      If all good then you need to start checking the steering column the hazard button and the switch arm for the blinkers make sure they are not worn out

      That is another thing that happens when the flasher relay goes bad

      If they stay solid and dont blink but inside your signal is blinking fast its probably your BCM. Scan it and clear the code yourself with a cheap scanner. Easy cheap fix

    So... my hazards went out the other day and I noticed that the blinkers also went at the same time. Now I’ve realized that my brake lights are out also. I’m guessing they all went out together. I checked the fuse and it’s fine. After looking at this video I’m guessing this is my next step. Do you agree?
    And just as a side note... who puts brake lights and blinkers and hazards all on the same unit? Seems like a safety hazard to me 🤷‍♀️

    • @DavidsHowtosReviews
      @DavidsHowtosReviews  Před 3 lety +5

      Yes try this for fist
      If this fixes only the blinkers then try the brake switch which is on the brake pedal I have a video on that as well.
      If it fixes everything then you’re all set.
      And yes Ford does some strange things that is unsafe in my opinion
      Everything should be separated especially the hazards

      If you have over 100k more then likely it’s the blinker switch on the column.
      Also the hazard switch usually where is Al and you need to wiggle the switch for the hazards sometimes it will get everything to work again, but if it does replace the hazard switch.

      Also make sure you check the common things like fuses and grounds just in case a wire got pinched by the frame or something like that and popped the fuse.

    SOLVED! I've read many threads just like this and you guys mostly have my exact problem. Here's what the problem was and how I fixed it:
    First, in my 2012 Ford F150 the right blinker (flasher)/ brake light would not work. Turn signal blinked fast inside and for the front light and the mirror signal but tail light blinker would not flash. The bulbs were fine, I even replaced with new just to double down. The tail lights would light up when my headlights were on (running lights) but would not get brighter when brake depressed and would not flash for turn signal.
    I will tell some of you to keep in mind that yours may light up also so you don't think you have a bulb out but keep in mind there are two sepperate tungstan filaments (squiggly light wires) in each tail light and the brakes and flasher one could be bad and your running tail lights still work so definately change your bulbs FIRST, then do this if that was not it.
    So I had the problem for many months and refused to take my truck to the dealer where of course they will want to replace things and rewire and god knows what else and I've read where one guy says Ford charged him like $800 to fix this. I fixed this problem with $9.00. Saw a CZcams video with a guy with the same problem and he bought an ELM Interface scanner, plugged into the vehicle under the steering wheel and scanned his own truck with an Android app. So I bought the same one on Amazon (here is the link)
    www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081WYWZ6B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    I found a free app called Car Scanner ELM OBD2 by OvZ it's a generic looking logo of a blue square with a white engine. But I actually saw tons of these apps and I'm sure other apps would work fine as long as they're ELM OBD2 scanning apps with high ratings.
    I scanned my truck hoping to see some code come up about the BCM (body control module which is where the problem is) but did not see that code. Didnt matter. I CLEARED what unuseful codes I did see and that immediately fixed the problem and my damn flasher and brake lights are all working again. THANK GOD FOR THIS. Super cheap and easy. I'll never go to a dealership. Hope this helps y'all.

    i was diagnosing my dads truck signals last night. they werent going, and neither were 2 of the 3 brake lights. weird right? the one on the back of the roof was still ok. meanwhile that freaky buzzy noise you demonstrate was happening cause i left the 4-ways "on" while i was upside down in the footwell. pressed n massaged the 4-way button and for some reason signals n brakes came back. im making him replace this blasted fuse tomorrow. 😎
