- Experimenting with different ways to get a carpet of sphagnum moss started on the big in-ground bog. At first I took big clumps and put them into the peat. I realized that this was going to take FOREVER!!!!!!! Then I got the bright idea to use a food processor to chop up the sphagnum and sprinkle it all over. This should also help mulch the bog as well. This is my favorite part of gardening...... the experimental phases!!!!
