Thank you for watching my videos! This channel is dedicated to animal education and improving the lives of captive animals.
Here’s little about me!
My name is Meghan Arriola and I live in Texas with my husband Jaime, where I dedicate my time to taking care of exotic and domesticated animals on my farm. We run a rescue and sanctuary for animals like alpacas, birds and reptiles. I do animal education presentations for groups and schools. Our alpacas also do events where we are able to teach people about these unique animals. I have used service dogs for medical needs for over 10 years and I am an advocate for assistance animals and mental health awareness.
I am an animal educator that brings science related ideas to an audience from around the world by presenting fun and interesting topics in a family friendly way. Animals touch our lives in unique ways everyday as simply being our pets and companions, but how can we make their lives equally as special now that they live in captivity? My CZcams channel and blog explore ways to meet this goal by tackling things like animal behavior, human-animal relationships and veterinary medicine. Animal science is a great way to teach people of all ages that education is fun and nerdy is cool.
My previous animal related work experience includes working in veterinary clinics, private zoos, training horses and volunteer work in wildlife rehabilitation, rescue/foster/adoption programs and therapeutic horsemanship for children with disabilities.
When I am not working with animals, I am working at the health care clinic owned by my husband Jaime and I, where we provide services to low income, minority neighborhoods. We have been on the frontlines fighting covid19. I also have a passion for art and I am an award winning painter and photographer and published author. I am naturally very introverted but I am extroverted about sharing my passions and doing my part to make the world a better place!

My friend got me one for my birthday. Well, she donated one for my birthday, but still
Tx for sharing your love of animals. You have great positivity.
Thank you for your videos! My partner and I are starting an alpaca farm next year and I’ve learned so much from you!
I don' even have alpacas, but I clicked because of megan's beautiful face! :)
Pervert!
This is really helpful! I have a baby right now that I'm the process of halter breaking. This is the first baby we've ever had. The rest of my herd is halter trained but I've been trying to find a good video on how to train him.
Also, could you do a Video on BMS (Berserk Male Syndrome) and why having a single alpaca or having alpacas indoors is so bad? It seems there are alot of people getting a single, Cria and trying to bottle feed it and raise it like a dog. This is not ok.
I would love a video like thiz
They’re so adorable great video amazing pets and lesson learn keep it up megan.
Would you train two at the same time? Or have one just hanging around while one is being trained?
Can you do more alpacas videos plis
Not an alpaca, but in 2001, I obtained a baby goat from the livestock auction. I had to learn how to keep her alive in her infancy. The idiot who gave me advice in the beginning nearly caused me to kill her. Exploring a feed store gave me the saving bottle feed. Anyway, I had the most spoiled goat in history. She was linguistically intelligent, understanding quite a few treat words. When I tied her collar to a high point on a tree out front, she managed to circle the tree until she was held against it. I took the lead and unwound her, telling her to go around the tree. On the third time, I was able to tell her to go around the tree and motion the correct direction. She clearly understood what I was telling her. Her favorite word was CornNuts. Anyway, she was bonded to me and would attack anyone else in her yard. The sonofabitch of the situation is that she had a limited lifespan. At 12½, she was showing signs of arthritis. Within a few weeks, she quit eating, showing that her time was up. I took her to a secluded place in the desert and put her down. I tried to be the staunch man, but the grief was overwhelming. It took several years to set aside the tears, but they show up now and then. My friends have suggested that I get another baby goat. I can't put myself through that ending again.
First!!!!¬!!! Great video! Im going to send this to my friend who has an alpaca.
Thank you for all of these pointers!! What kind of grain do you treat them with?
Very helpful Now he’s ready for a show
Plumpton high school kids ASEMBLEE
I love these! Could you maybe do more videos about doing the raw diet?
I like your method way better, I like that it's set out to be a positive experience :)

I'm trying to halter train an untrained mini mule, she is really scared of the halter because she was abused with things like ropes, i will try the alpaca method XD
Hi! Can you do a vid on shearing alpacas
Please talk about doves please
So very helpful! Now I just need 2 alpacas! Looking for somewhere in Texas that is reasonable to start with.
Watch more of my videos! 3 is the minimum!
were do u get the halter at what are the best type
I have 4 2 years old alpacas and previous no training to wear a halter. It hasn’t been easy to put them on, I’m trying to be as calm as possible but seem they are stressed. Do you have any tips for me for young alpaca training? ( I’ve followed all your points in the video but I may need to start over to gain trust) what are the treats you give? Thank you for your help.
How much does it cost
One of my alpacas is REALLY uncomfortable and he is so wild whenever he has it on, not a moment when he would stand still, just jumping, running and kicking his legs around and stuff. It took us an hour to even attach the rope and he would barely walk with the halter. How do you get past that stage?
Why is the rope not attached when you put the halter on??
Hi I have a question. I have a friend who has a cockatiel who has a rip him his nose. He can’t get his bird to a vet. Is there anything he can do to help his bird?
I'm not a veterinarian by any means, but it may be able to be supported with super glue. There are nature videos of wild birds having their beaks reconstructed, an eagle comes to mind.
Are you able to go for a walk with just one alpaca or do you need more than one alpaca to go for a walk? I currently have three but only one is halter trained from watching your video! I haven't trained the other two as they are currently pregnant.
They are ok to go by themselves when I walk them around the farm, but if I leave I take two. They actually behave better when there is two.
@@HappyTailsAnimals Fantastic, thank you! Would it be ok to halter train pregnant alpacas?
Hi i am intrested to buy I am from india i watch your regularly love from india i want to import to india plz replay what prosiger
Hi! I was wondering is it okay to feed alpacas grain because some people say it's toxic and you feed your alpacas grain:) Please respond!
Who told you that? I've never seen anyone in the alpaca farming community say grain is toxic ??? Grain is made from corn and plant materials so what part would even be toxic?
@@HappyTailsAnimals when you look up what alpacas cant eat it says that:)
Why did I read the title as alpaca hater training
I gave up on Alpaca, a dog is much easier to train
