I love him! especially when Joe said to Rolando "you had better not show me up" and he even smiles through the duet, he is having such a good time GO JOE GO!
Absolutely love this duet. Joe's voice sounds simply wonderful...love the tone and the timbre of his voice... so beautiful to listen to. Hope he keeps up with the training and makes a career of singing more classical pieces
Given that Joe is not a trained opera singer and maybe doesn't have the strength in his voice, he did outstandingly well and his last note "amor" was just wondeful. An outstanding and brave performance and one that really moved me.
Joe when I first heard you on X Factor I said to my brother Phil ( a friend of your Dad) - that you are a natural tenor. Your voice is so natural and has such a lovely timbre.I do hope you take the advice of both Rolando & Kathryn , cause they obviously know amazing talent when they hear it. I love the duet with Rolando and play it often.Great voice & a great young man
When I am listening to this I would like to knoe Italian. You are both wonderful, and I am hope that Joe is really thinking about a new future in opera. You are really amazing. I love to listen to all of your music but this is the best I must say. The pop-world will have a lost but the opera-world will really have a gold-winner
haidunia Well I have to respectively disagree. Joe is a great pop singer but he doesn't have the weight or richness of voice required by an opera singer and he should stick to what he does best.
+jd7x7 You are a troll. Joe is a young man of 20, who has not sung opera before and yet you expect him to be able to sing like a well rounded and famous tenor like Pavorotti or Domingo. I am an Australian, and let me tell you something, if Pavarotti had not met Joan Sutherland and her husband Richard Bonyigne, he would not have become as famous and as wealthy as he did. What Joe has achieved in 6 weeks, you would not have achieved in a lifetime. TROLL, get a life and some life understanding! If you can't do that then do the world a favour and drop off the planet. You are a waste of space and oxygen!!!!!!!!!! PS: There was nothing respectful in your disagreement of this wonderful young man.
@@robertg75 calm down dude jesus, a person can't disagree on something you agree with and it deserves to die, the dude was all polite and objective you come with that attitude, you will never win an argument with that attitude, and btw I agree with that person, Joe is a really good pop singer he has it all, the timber, the tecnice, the charisma, why should he invest in opera and maybe be decent or good when he can keep in pop and be great, besides you can hear a pop voice and an opera voice before they start their first class, some voices sound better for some stuff and other for other, Amy Winehouse when started didn't have neither a pop or opera voice, jazz was her way, Pavarotti started sing and their parents knew where to put him
has-been? Really?? Disrespecting a known talent like Rolando doesn't make Joe look better. Your comment is not only nasty, it's ignorant. Joe did a great job and Rolando was masterful, as a trained professional would be.
I just love Joe.his voice is superb..I think he should have really concentrated his talents into opera.rather than cabaret and singing in venues,he was too good for that, his voice is his fortune and could have made a lucid career for himself and brought joy to so many people.
@marcsilcockfan1989 fair enough i fully accept that point. Art is a very broad subject and i have often found myself rating something highly that everyone else dislikes. But surely an artist should at least be defined to some extent by there own level of creative input. joes career includes, a reality show singing competition, an album heavily driven by a production line style record label and another reality singing competition because the album failed.
I think you are right. I feel it too. Yeah it is the standard opera technique the only problem may be what you said that Rolando darkens his vowels too much by lowering his larynx. Opera singers have to darkens their voice just they have to be careful not too much because it can hurt the voice and as you said the voice wont "run far away".
Is it just an accident that Joe signed with Decca Records, the parent of Rolondo's record company a few weeks after they first met? I don't think so. I hope Rolondo continues to help Joe in his career for many years.
@raythespian Sorry but i really dont know what are you talking about. Rolando is a great opera singer with very good technics and experience. One of the greatest tenor in the world. If I know well he had to undergo surgery in order to remove a congenital cyst in one of his vocal cords. He returned to the stage in 2010. Maybe he hasnt the best high notes but it doesnt matter. Not the high C makes the good artist.
Good question. In general, even though his voice production is relaxed, Joe sings wide open "spread" vowels which will cut through a mix because they are bright and tend toward the sharp end of the tonal spectrum. Rolando, on the other hand, darkens his vowels and lowers his larynx, standard opera technique, but I think he goes too far as he opens his mouth too much even for lower notes. Therefore he does not have a good "ring" to his tone, which if done right would blow Joe out of the water.
@birchual Well, that would depend on what a person's definition of 'young artist' would be?what age bracket?20 and under? 30 and under? Are musical artists only those that write their own music and lyrics? Are they better than others who may be just great singers? If so, then does the fact that Meryl Streep didn't write a particular role would somehow render her performance worthless?Do u include bands? It's all personal opinion, really...and I despise music snobs, using music as a social ladder.
My goodness - most of the people in this are truly awful. I mean just abominable - surely anyone with a grain of sense can hear that McElderry is much better than just about all the popstars who've had a go at this? Don't be so critical - in six weeks he learned a lot and I quite understand Rolando Villazon being excited. But don't push too hard, Joe. Take it more slowly or you will have no voice in three years' time.
Blimey Joe! Twenty years old and you have sung with George Michael (one of the best male pop vocalists in the world) and Rolando Villazon (one of the best operatic tenors in the world)! Where do you go from there? Does it get any better than this!
Joe is good. He should be careful in taking advice from Rolando, whose high notes are gone and whose operatic career is virtually over. This explains why he is doing odd things like this show.
Haven't heard you singing...yet! If you find Joe's singing horrible, you must have a superb singing voice. All the people who voted for Joe must have been wrong, Including the judging panel. Let's be honest,...what do they know. You are the expert!
Anilezle Breet Let's be honest. The quality of Martha Selva Perlinger voice doesn't make this any better or worse. While I agree this isn't a particularly constructive comment, good or bad, I have to agree with its general sentiment.
As well as having a great voice, he has good looks and an invecious smile.he is nice a nice humble person and always gives a fantastic performance.
I love him! especially when Joe said to Rolando "you had better not show me up"
and he even smiles through the duet, he is having such a good time GO JOE GO!
Joe, you are probably the greatest young artist for a decade! Congratulations!!!
Joe's voice is so pure and relaxed and operatic! Bravo!!! Also keep your voice as it is, there is no need for "more passion" 👍
I am absolutely not a singer but I love to listen to his voice, which is one of the best for a long time
Absolutely love this duet. Joe's voice sounds simply wonderful...love the tone and the timbre of his voice... so beautiful to listen to. Hope he keeps up with the training and makes a career of singing more classical pieces
In addition to having such a great talent, I love watching Joe as he seems to always have fun.

I have to say, what a wonderful woice Joe has. Clean lovely tunes. Please become a operastar
Rolando is such a great singer and a very nice person.
Amazing how you get this up so quick.
Joe was just stunning in this duet with Rolando. What an honour. I wish him the very best tonight.
Very nice. To see a pop star doing so well, and Rolando investing himself so much too.
Given that Joe is not a trained opera singer and maybe doesn't have the strength in his voice, he did outstandingly well and his last note "amor" was just wondeful. An outstanding and brave performance and one that really moved me.
Joe, when I die, I hope the Choirs of Angels sound like you! Listening to you sing is like having a bit of Heaven here on Earth!
Joe when I first heard you on X Factor I said to my brother Phil ( a friend of your Dad) - that you are a natural tenor. They were incredible
"YOU HAVE ALL THE TALENT AND YOU CAN BECOME A REAL OPERA STAR " Rollando Villazon to Joe McElderry
Joe overshadowed that has been!

Joe was the best all the way through . Knew he would win. Simon who?! Ha ha

What is this song and where is it from?
Dennis Hally se llama "musica prohibita" la hizo famosa Enrico Caruso y la cantaron todos los grandes tenores del siglo xx
Is it just an accident that Joe signed with Decca Records, the parent of Rolondo's record company a few weeks after they first met? I don't think so. I hope Rolondo continues to help Joe in his career for many years.
Just a question. Why is Joe 'louder' than Rolando? Does he use a microphone too? Im just curious. Btw really good performance. :-)

Joe could probably play spoletta, the high tenor in tosca, nothing more.
I wish Joe would perform on THE WEST END.
