    That was excellent information. I've been wanting some of this kind of information for a while, with excellent examples.

    Thank you for this! I was scouring the internet trying to get clarification on what exactly reverse stripe was, because it seems like a rarely used term and when it is used the pattern doesn't seem consistent.

    my dream snake was (and still is) a superconda. went to an expo last sept and ended up with a completely different morph i couldn’t say no to him. now i have a 1 year old albino anaconda - he’s super sassy and full of drama. hoping in the future i’ll get my super and potentially breed them!! great video thank you for the info my parents found it rly interesting :)

    Cool video! Amazing how many different variants. I live in Southeastern NC and I’ve seen a variant that definitely has a pattern more like the “normal” hognose, but it had an almost purple body with an orange head. Wish I could share a picture, but it won’t let me.

    Wow that hognose at 3:40 is crazy! This is part of the reason I'm obsessed! Stuff like that.
    My two new lavender babies have pretty interesting patterns. Not anything too fancy or perfect but they kinda look twin spot or tiger.

    This was a very educational video and great knowledge for people who are looking to buy a new hognose snake.
    My favorites are the super conda and hands down luesistic is amazing hopefully in the next few years the price goes down on these. Have we seen all black hognoses like say melanistic?

    Good video. I just watched this to start getting back into Hognose to discover the albino jaguar pictured is my image of a snake I bred. It shouldn’t be credited to Hognose1973

    Hey jermaine, i feel like not a lot of breeders reall work with pattern breeding and u seem to be a big fan! Are the pattern genes recessive? Dominant? Can a snake be het for these?

    • @shovelnosehogs
      @shovelnosehogs  Před rokem +1

      Most are dominant. Conda is in-complete dominant

  • @Lady_Ryl

    I wonder if the reason you don't see anyone working with the spider gene is because of the bad rep it has in ball pythons.

    Could you explain about shadow gene/pattern ? I’ve got one conda that I’ve been told has shadow gene because of her really weird pattern but I can’t find out what that means .
    Sorry for al the comments and questions

    • @shovelnosehogs
      @shovelnosehogs  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not too confident in identifying the shadow gene. From my research it's similar to an arctic pattern because the pattern should have some outlines of black.

    • @G.e.m.m.a.
      @G.e.m.m.a. Před 3 lety

      I even wondered if it was a ‘thing’ that exist because the conda morph gives so many different patterns . I can’t find any info about shadow gene ,we’re did you find information about it ? I’ve posted a picture on a breeder page on Facebook and they told me it could be or is with shadow gene . I don’t know how to send you a picture ,I don’t really believe it’s a shadow gene because there is no evidence about the gene .
      Thank you for taking the time to answer .

    • @hognosebestuk
      @hognosebestuk Před 3 lety

      The shadow gene usually has the darker outlining on the saddles, like a shadow, and also the saddles are much larger with little gap in between. Kind of like the Mocha in this video. I had never heard of a mocha until recently so I'm dubious of that pattern morph but I've seen and heard of the shadow and know some breeders working with it. Gary Morris at GM reptiles has a website which explains morphs really well.

    Hmm, you are putting a d after the first n in anaconda?
