  • In this week's episode of the Wide Awake Podcast I had a conversation with the leader of the DA, John Steenhuisen. During our chat we discussed John's epic clashes with Cyril Ramaphosa in Parliament, the questionable release of Jacob Zuma from prison, the riots that erupted in Durban and Cape Town, Cyril Ramaphosa's $4 Million Couch Scandal, John's thoughts on becoming the president of South Africa, addressing the growing issue of homelessness in Cape Town, the challenges related to drugs and gangs in the Cape Flats, concerns about police corruption, Gayton Mckenzie, what BRICS means, the recent legalisation of marijuana in SA and much more!

John , wish more people could have seen this interview. You are right saying start with job creation then those parents can send their kids to schools, and that will solve the first step we have to take. I have been brought up in the apartheid era and never knew about it ,and there was more opportunity then, if you worked for it. Madiba showed every one in South Africa that is possible under any circumstances. He has done it why not can the youth of today?

As he mentioned, the government owns most of the land in the country, having been buying it up for ages. However, it rarely leaves government hands. I read about Black farmers who received land but lack deeds, preventing them from leveraging the land to secure loans for farm growth. Why are title deeds not being issued, and why are the land claim courts not operating efficiently? It makes me wonder if the ANC aims to follow the EFF and MK's vision of government owning all the land, with citizens merely leasing it. I don't see how leasing land will resolve the land issue, as without title deeds, you can't obtain loans to develop the land.

DA gives hope in western cape but create despair in the provinces they are not prepared to win . They look after their province & have no will to create explosive growth in the demographics that count in stronghold provinces. The country is dying under the ANC yet DA isnt able to grow significantly

Is important to secure Land rights Land rights for our Children grant children ...for our future generations still to cme ...Every child have the right to inherited what Belongs to his /her forefathers, grant parents and parents ...It happened with White Settlers in South Africa, their their children inherited Stuff .....Why not us where is ours...? From your statement, I gather that you cannot be an EFF or MK supporter, as you wish to own land with title deeds that can be passed down to your children. Is this correct?

....naaaaaa Durban is better Mr John Stententeheyzen😂😅. In Durban we have Ingonyama Trust land. Like Adams Mission , black people are building themselves dream houses, Thembeni just near the Toll gate in Groutville, black people have made a beautiful surbub for themselves. Inanda, Kwa Ncolosi, we are decorating the areal photograph independently from government. The houses Im talking about are better than surbub homes 🏡 😌. Anyways we are Zulus. We have our own land belonging to our tribe.
You in Cape Town yu are rolling out match box RDP Houses in a tinny piece of land.
Mr Stententeheyzen Sir 😂😅. I believed in the DA, until you displayed racism by expelling Musi Mayimane. But Cape Town is not as Ayoba as yu say; if 15% of the city is beutiful surrounded by shacks. But I will vote for DA since I hate ANC.
