great video! trust me when I say I know how much work you put into those boxes! My father and I cut around 80 logs this winter and rough cut all the lumber on a band saw-mill, then proceeded to make 40 4 way pallets out of it!
Impressive vertical integration the lumber there at the end. Yes, not free, but self sustaining and worth the effort! I have 22 acres of pine that will be serving the same purpose soon. Just as soon as I get my bandmill (who knows when that will be?). Good video. I like also you mentioned placing the nucs over a 10 frame colony to really compound the heat sharing. I knew of side by side nucs but hadn't really though of stacking atop a 10 frame as well. Why not!? Thanks again, good video and nice woodwork!
Hi Susan, See my Update videos at : Nov 7 czcams.com/video/XX3BafnpQMY/video.html Jan 31 czcams.com/video/aExW4bNDPvY/video.html I checked the Fondant a week ago and they are still living. I plan to check them again next Monday if it's warm . I should make a playlist for this project. Bee Happy! Phil

Great project and a good job on the woodwork.
Thanks... I've used this hive successfully for 2 winters now.
The nuc experiment was a success. Both nucs made it through the winter

love it
How did this turn out?
I hope it worked for you.
It worked great. I have had a couple winters now and the bees in the nucs all survived.

How are they going?
These 4 frame nucs made it through the winter and are in 5, 10 frame deep boxes as of September.
