    Thanks for this video, its the only one I could find. Didn't realize the heater fan was so accessible. Last time I had to change one was in my 1982 TVR 350i and that meant the whole dash had to come out.....
    Anyway; after getting to the fan motor, removing all the dead leaves and trying to coax the motor back to life....yep I also forgot to plug it back in......But when I did plug it back in and ignition on, still no joy. I tried pushing the spindle like you did but still no joy so I went and got the mechanic's best friend, yes I beat it (gently) with a hammer and now it works... woho 😎

      how about tracking down a strange wiper condition. I have replaced the motor, both relays and the combo switch on steering column. I have also refreshed all the wiring harness grounds I could reach behind instrument cluster and under the hood. I am still having intermittent wiper control issues. Won't shut off sometimes, acts like it is just turned on. I am feeling it could be a SAM issue. Thoughts? I have ordered a true diagnostic tester (Hain@ Mercedes Benz Carsoft 7.4) rather than just an ODB scanner.

    My blower motor on my 98 clk320 died about 2 months ago and i called an auto wreckers in the GTA and got a used one for $90 with the resistor. When i removed the old one i hooked up the fan w/o the resistor to an external battery & it worked. So in my case the resistor was shot but thankfully the used one i got came with the fan and resitor. This an extremely common problem with w208 and older models. I know 2 other w208 owners had had to get new blower motors. The dealership charges like $350 for the fan only and another $2-300 for the resistor, which is absurd. I got the whole thing used for $90.

I installed LED dome lights and am wondering what the value of the load resistor should be to allow the car to sense that there are lights in the fixture so that the single passenger side spot can work? I figure that the car thinks that there arent bulbs in it so they all turn on when the single spot switch is pressed

    Do you have a video with the coolant auxiliary fan noting working for C280. The fans do turn on when I push 12 volts into the connecter plugs. Any suggestions

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  Před 3 lety +1

      likely the resistor for the cooling fans or a relay . you can swap a relay from one of the known good circuits and see if the fans now work . If not the resistor is located near the bottom of the rad on the drivers side ( depending on which model you have ) .you can trace the wiring from the cooling fans right into the resistor . I don't have a vid for it , but it's not too hard to check the involved components. You have eliminated the fans , so they aren't the problem , So it's down to either negative power not getting to the fans through the resistor , or positive not getting through due to bad fuse or relay . Does your a/c heater blower inside the car work properly ? sometimes the cabin heater blower can halt function of the cooling fans , but generally not .

    • @simonmoreno4757
      @simonmoreno4757 Před 3 lety

      @@fupabox i have a 1998 Mercedes C280 V6 non sport US model. A/C heater blower inside works properly even the defroster every morning here in California, except my A/C cold air because my compressor seized/broken. I've changed a couple bad fuses so next is checking the resistor/resistor ground (assuming its under the driver side fuse box and not the driver side fuse/relay box inside the engine) and the relay. Follow up in the AM.

    Hi Fupabox,- 2001 CLK320
    My blower motor wasn’t working. I pulled it, one brush wasn’t making contact, I jerryrigged it, put it back in. It works. However, it won’t turn off, even when I turn the car off. I’m assuming the blower resistor is bad? Your thoughts?

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  Před 4 lety +1

      likely the resistor or the fan control relay . Check the relay first under the hood (remove fusebox cover the unscrew the top ... has to come off to get to relays in back) cant recall which one is fan relay ,but it should be located in there

    • @mattnota1284
      @mattnota1284 Před 4 lety

      fupabox thanks, it was the resistor. Curious if you knew why the lcd screen is not displaying all of the functions.. some pop in and out.. for example: the first three bars of the fan power are not showing, and the “smog” is always showing

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  Před 4 lety +1

      @@mattnota1284 likely the hvac control unit is failing. Smog is activated by pressing and holding the recirc button for a few seconds . If it doesn't reset by pressing recirc . then something in the control unit isn't working properly. I know there are places that can fix older digital hvac control units but not sure if they are worth the $$ over a good used one

    it appears my problem is the fan speed resistor pack, after removing the fan and cleaning all the debris and dead wet soggy decaying leaves out of the motor, the tray below the motor and the air filter, I cleaned up the motor WD40'd it and put it across a car battery and it spun super fast - put everything back together and no go, so I'm guessing its that resistor pack on the heat sink next to the motor - which can be found in this video,
