Mercedes really did us in with this terrible hydraulic design I got my hard top back on and I'm not even attempting to take it off until I can get someone to completely fix my hydraulics. And I've been quoted insane prices.

Great video. You must be much more patient than myself as my metal trim "tore" trying to separate it. I've gone through so many of these through eBay that I will try your fix. How has it held up over eight years? Can you also confirm which "direction" worked when testing with the drill?

What will happen if did not do this when new battery installed?

I found this because i suspected a faulty fuel pump resistor on my 2012 tacoma 2.7L, luckily you point out the 2.7 does not have one. It's little details like these that sometimes work wonders. Symptoms were similar however mine would idle slow, occasionally die, frequently if driving in town. I cleaned battery terminals, cables + new shrink tubing, topped off cells with DI water...no change. This problem started after replacing the AC relay where my stray bolt arced on the panel terminals I had to exposed for accessing the bolts...always disconnect battery! I decided to check mass flow sensor and found a plug on the air filter housing, which I assumed was the maf or something relevant to detecting air flow quantity, so I unplugged it (motor was running), engine died, upon restart the issue had vanished - my truck was back. If anyone reads this and has a good explanation, please enlighten me. Also, are the bolts for the AC relay special metal alloy or will any type suffice without creating interference, or engine noise?

You can easily change it under the vehicle in 5 minutes without removing anything.

started of watching the series because i was looking for results of interrupting spark. does have spark but really weak and if it does run, it will for a few seconds and die. wont have spark for a while afterwards. this is strange because i bought it running and driving at a swap meet. used the bike for a straight week with no issues besides that it burns oil and will eventually foul the plug. i had to replace the plug once every other day. i bring it back home and rode it around in the RV park i live in for 2 days with no problems. July 4th, i go out at late evening to watch the fireworks and as im driving down the road just DIES. not a sputter and then quit like what a fouled plug would do. it wouldnt start afterwards. if you have any speculations as to what this could be. after watching your video, im thinking points or coil needs a replacement. like a said, ran great for a solid week and half with no issues besides smoking a bit and then just out of the blue nothing. not even changing the sparkplug to a new one fixed it. i enjoyed watching the series and watched all the way through. ive learned a lot and bought one of these bikes in the intentions of learning how to work on z50s.

This also works in summer, but it only runs the fan at medium speed to circulate outside air through the car so it doesn't get stifling inside...
