Do you struggle with painting detail with a small brush?
I'm new here, just subscriped. Please drop the horrible music. It's a Christmas card, so something soft and gentle rather than this 70's stuff.
@@editaedita473 Thanks for watching.
The music isn't " 70's stuff" 😢

Steve Mitchell of Mind of Watercolour also uses paint with a dip pen. Looks amazing - thank you
I figured some one somewhere had done it, but I sure hadn’t seen it! Thank you!

I really like the use of the circular stencil holy cow. That is a great effect right there!
I think so too!
Thank you for showing us your Next Day Observations and Fixes! And bokeh using a stencil just changed my life lol😂 So helpful! Glad I found your channel!
Your welcome! Happy painting.
I love this idea of circular lights!
Thanks! It’s pretty fun!
Thank you so much! I’m so going to try it! I’ve been trying to get boke effect for so long time and it looks so ugly each time I try it, thank you so much for being so generous an share with us!!
You’re welcome!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine! Great song! Great painting. Jesus loves me! Great celebration of Jesus! I had to watch a couple of times cause I was rocking to the praising of the Lord!
🤣 I love that song too! Only His light!
Great watercolor techniques! Thank you for sharing, Becky!
Thanks and you’re welcome!
Lovely Share ❤ thank You For The Tips and Technique 🎉

You’re welcome!
If you like the dip pen for lines, try a ruling pen. It's adjustable and works on tapered lines with a little practice. It works with masking fluid as well. This was a wonderful video. I love the way you talk through it all, even defending your brush "not better" just different. Thank you for giving my Sunday morning a beautiful educational start.
I’ll have to try that! Thanks for the to, and for your kind words!
any tips for keeping the masking fluid from drying out and gumming up on the dip/ruling pens?
@@Pyroific I do water a bit of it down in a separate container. I also clean them off pretty often, it just does gum up.
@@Pyroific Just wipe it off every couple of dips. I also pour just a bit into a teeny glass, so I don't have the bottle open. And I store the masking fluid bottle upside down.
I think I liked your card better before you went in and made the adjustments. I liked the brightness and cheerfulness of i. Problems with being a perfectionist. I do that kind of thing. Go in and fix bits, then lose my original fresh look. Lovely painting, tips and techniques. 😊
This is awesome, and next year I will try it,this year,it’s photo memories of my late husband, who passed 4 months ago…(I will practice before that though, you are very good with watercolour ♥️🇨🇦
Thank you. I’m so very sorry about your husband. Praying for peace for you right now.
Just watched one of your videos for the first time, love your style.
Thank you!
I've seen quite a few artists using the pen in their watercolour paintings and it really is a great technique to use for getting those very thin delicate lines. It's really useful when doing rigging on boats or for doing branches/twigs on trees and the delicate little details on flower petals. I use this technique often in my paintings, and sometimes I will also use a good quality coloured pencil sharpened to a very fine point to pick out tiny details. I like the stencil idea, it looks very pretty. 😊
Thanks for watching. I’ve only seen the pen used for applying ink watercolor, not watercolor paint. New to many of us.
Wow it really lifts a classic design. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your kind words!
I love using the erase to make berries. Great video.
Thank you!
I love this Technique. Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome!
Wonderful demonstration. I use indigo ink with my watercolors very often. I love the crispness it makes against the watercolor.
Thank you! I think I may be under using indigo. It really is lovely.
Love this, beautiful and I love the chrissy music!!!
Thank you so much!
As a photographer I know bokeh well. It makes the subject bop off the photo. It's cool that you figured this out!!
I actually learned Bokeh from other watercolor artists. The thing I figured out was that I could load a pen tip with paint and apply paint that way. Not quite as dramatic as figuring out bokeh which is way cooler!!! It really does make painting pop!
Thank you. Lots of fun and easy. ❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Lovely!
Thank you!
WOW that's really beautiful, the colours are lovely together.
Thank you so much!
Wonderful and easy to follow tutorial
Thank you.
So we’ll done!love how you describe what you are doing and what you are using!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words.
Very beautiful effect. Great idea! Thanks.
Thank you!
Love the candle and Bokeh effect ..Thankyou for sharing 🥰 ooh I was frustrated when a box came up near the very end of the video and covered what you were doing 😁This must be the nicest painting of a candle I have seen !
Thank you! Sorry about that, it was just some more Bokeh circles.
Absolutely loved this tutorail. Thankyou so much for sharinng.
You’re welcome!
Agreed about the up and down volume of the music. Also, I’d LOVE a tutorial, to hear all of what you’ve done and discovered as you’re painting. And at the end - we can’t see the finished card!! Your other video “suggestion” (I’m not sure what else to call it) is smack dab over the doggone beautiful card you made!
Other than that, I really love the card, and would love a full length tutorial on it.
Thank you for sharing this with us. ❤
Thanks for your input.
I had trouble hearing much of this lovely demo, and l agree that an expanded tutorial, especially with tips on the colour mixing, which l had a heck of a time with as the video sped up just as you began combining the various pigments and l had to slow it to .25X to figure out how to get the tans and other subtle colours on the candle. It was much harder than l thought, but halfway through I'm glad l persevered. No exercise is ever wasted.
P.S. l enjoyed the music and have been humming "This Little Light of Mine" all afternoon. Thanks for getting me in a Christmas frame of mind. 😊
@@Bearwithme560 I’m so glad you persevered! I do have a video that is all about color mixing that you might like. Here is link, just in case you’re interested. m.czcams.com/video/eTmtbleVI8o/video.html

Hello Becky, what a beautiful painting and a wonderful video, I love all the detail you include both verbally and visually. I found it truly inspirational, thank you. Eve from England

I love those brushes, wow!
Thanks! I’m glad I it was helpful!
Nice to watch and learn new tips and tricks , thank you 😊🙏
Thank you.
I loved the video and learned from your technique. Great idea. Thanks. No clue why people feel the need to offer suggestions. Can’t stand soft background music (prefer silence over that) so I actually really love the way you did the music. But here’s the thing: you have given all of us the free gift of your knowledge and creativity. In response to a free gift, why does anybody feel entitled/compelled to offer you suggestions? Weird and narcissistic imho. Thank you for a wonderful video. Like the other commenter, I think you have a wonderful voice.
Thank you for your kind words. I hope you have a great time painting!
Lovely! Thanks for sharing this idea!

I have a glass pen. Brilliant and the stencil. I love it!
Thank you!
Love the composition! Also learned several new tips!
Yay! Happy painting!
This is an amazing technique! I have watched many, many watercolour demos and tutorials (I love learning!) and have never seen this done before. Miraculously, I do have the same stencil with circles on it so I will be able to practice this as soon as I have time to paint. I like my liner brush, but I do use a white gel pen (very fine nib) to add snow to my winter branches. ;) Thank you so much for sharing this, Becky! This is a wonderful painting, too - the colours and blending in the candle are perfectly executed! - P.S. - the bit with using a pen/pencil eraser to create berries is genius!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words!
🎼🎶🎵🕯️Just found you! 🥰I particularly liked the music in the background 🕯️This little little of mine…. I’m gonna let it shine!!🎶🎵❤️🥰

I just love that tutorial very dreamy.
Thank you!
I’ve been looking for an easier way of doing this background…thanks so much! Plus am happy to learn more mixed media for things such as you making pine needles with a pen…berries with an eraser…can hardly wait to try
You’re most welcome! Do you think it would be called mixed media if it is all done with paint? I didn’t think it would, but I really don’t know.
Love your technique!
Thank you!
