    Where those 4 lights are that indicate pattern lenght should have been, a b c d buttons like on a tr8s that you can copy to and from each other and Live play mix and match patterns? Future updates, are the hope for these machines which really are brilliant.

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex  Před 4 lety +2

      Roland put pattern chain on the TR-8S quite simply. With Ableton type follow actions on the clips the 707 would have been a dream come true but it isn't. It is clear that they purposefully dumbed down this machine for some reason.

    • @MrSilkydrew
      @MrSilkydrew Před 4 lety +1

      @@Digiphex yeah so to make people buy both a tr8s and a mc707. I think the dream is that, or maybe say a Circuit and a mc707. For me I'm loving my drumbrute impact and tr8s working together. Cheers

    After watching more 707 videos. Sounds like the synth engine is a lot better than the jdxi/jdxa partials
    I thought it was the same engine,
    It probably is, but the sounds definitely seem like they are higher quality
    Nice to see Roland make a dawless workstation that lets us users with hardware make entire sets :D
    Tax return season here I come!

    • @maccagrabme
      @maccagrabme Před 4 lety

      Sounds a lot more flexible and advanced than the Jdxi, probably similar to the Jdxa, not sure if its higher quality as that thing is already high quality.

    • @samanderson806
      @samanderson806 Před 3 lety +1

      It is not even close to the same engine, I have both of those units. JDXI is great but it is the "supernatural" engine. The MC707 runs on "zencore" and is WAAAAAAAAAAY more advanced, versatile, and sounds far far better. The pianos and everything are immediately noticeably better.

    Hello, can you tell me how I can put an effect on just one step? For example delay on just one snare hit?

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex  Před rokem +1

      You will have to make a channel to use only for the snare then you can per step put fx. Push KNOB ASSIGN button, assign one of the encoders to Delay Send. Then hold the step you want to send and turn the encoder for that step only. Make sure the encoder is 0 for the other steps.

    how does this stack up against something like a Digitakt, if you've ever used one? I would buy one of these in a heartbeat, but the Digitakt is cheaper and seems like it's more capable is some ways, but the mc707 has some stuff the Digitakt doesn't, like the VA synth, but I could just sample a synth and play that w the digitakt.

    • @callum6224
      @callum6224 Před 4 lety

      @@Digiphex right, i guess i'm wondering what the $1000 price tag is for, or maybe what it can offer that other 'groove boxes', or whatever you would technically call this, could offer? I'm just thinking of what the appeal is at that price when I could get a Model Sample (not really a good comparison, but it's a much cheaper Elektron box), or even a Digitakt or and old Octatrack for cheaper. I mean this looks like it's much easier to use and you can probably quickly make a little loop, and the Elektron stuff requires deep menu diving, but has complex routing options and can sequence MIDI out, and do generative stuff, etc. which may not be for everybody, but after watching this, I'm kind of shocked at the lack of functionality, and when it was announced I assumed it would be capable of more just in comparison to the MC303, which I've owned for a few years and still enjoy using as a simple 16 step drum machine and maybe an extra melodic line or two, but I'm looking for a sampler to complete my live set up and even though this miight suffice, it's still much too expensive compared to the (imo, much better) options I listed above. Do you have any other suggestions? I mainly want something that's cheap, and I guess is capable of making a song live, unlike the MC707 as you said in the video. Sorry for the long question, but I appreciate that you took the time to reply anyways, thanks! Really like your videos.

    • @Digiphex
      @Digiphex  Před 4 lety

      For the price, the display is really bad and the software update to pattern chain has a real workaround feel to it. What was missed by Roland was to make these into little clips like in Ableton with follow properties. Clips could follow random, reverse, stop, all the things Ableton can do with a clip.

    • @just_pierre9730
      @just_pierre9730 Před 4 lety

      You're not sounding very positive about Roland (anymore). I admit, the screen is very unpleasant when not sitting right above it but what bothers me more is the missing count-in feature.

  • @patrickfrancis7547

    Like the Advice I just wish someone would answer the phone at Roland. Maybe you can answer a question or two ? Although I think Scatter Is an amazing stand alone champion and reason to keep this unit. There are not a whole lot more. 1. IS it me or is there no count in at all for Recording in real time? I have no idea why the samples I input I cant seem to play through out a whole measure when simply wanting to use them in a tone context not a looper one. They play one time and do not play again. I have tried to contact Roland Twice now with no return call. I realized how trained Roland made me when one day I called akai there was a live person there answering the phone. Roland support is simply non existent its a shame.

    There is no screen dedicated to the mixer, it is absurd. You enter the parameters by pressing "SEL" and turning the knobs (C1-C4), a small superimposed screen, but you NEVER have an idea of the Mix in general. Volumes, Pan, effects. In this, Akai Force, light years ahead.
