  • Today we take a look at the new version of the mini virtual pinball cabinet from Game Room Solutions. This is a version 2 from them, but does it improve upon the terrible first version i reviewed in the past? Lets take a look.

    Nice video. I've been looking at this machine so I'm glad to hear they fixed most of the issues they had before. It is disappointing the DMD mounting doesn't have the proper holes for the wiring, but that's not the end of the world. Good job in setting this up - it's definitely impressive.

    Superb video, very articulated and concise in explaining your mods on GRS cabinet! Been thinking to purchase one of the kit from GRS but was hesitating between mid size 32” or full size 43”. But knowing what can be fitted in 27” makes me know how much expansion it can do.
    Your explanation on the differences between solenoid and shaker and the kit is well! Before I simply can’t get why it is needed.
    You’re probably the only video which I came across that emphasise on surround sound 😂 Looking forward for more about your pinball cabinet mod🎉

    I have this same cab! Have been happy with it. May make a video about it to help others as well. Haven’t done the plunger, surround sound, shaker or solenoids but even still happy with it. Great video!

    I got a kit for this a few days ago. The issues I found were: 1. A few holes were not drilled correctly. 2. The pinball leg on the back-right of the cabinet was pulling the the wood piece out of alignment. I only put the screws on wrist tight. The front legs were fine as the left-back was ok too. The next issue I see in the future is when I want to upgrade the monitor in the head. That is going to be a big pain. Not as bad as putting this thing together was. It took me 2 days to put it together and figure out how to fix the leg bracket/misaligned holes. I still haven't setup the PC yet! I do have a solution for anyone who would want to add a PC inside this. I bought a Open Air Graphics Card Bracket 4 GPU Computer Chassis Mining Rig Frame Case. That is what it was called on Ebay. It mounts the motherboard and power supply to it. You can also attach to the side a SSD drive. I am happy with it but it isn't going to be perfect. Keep that in mind and you may have to do a few minor things to it. I just wanted to let others know what I found and don't blow off this cabinet. It does look really good!

    My DMD screen came with a right angle HDMI adapter that worked pretty well for fitting it into the cab. I don't know if they all come with it but the adapter is around.

    Awesome. I have the GRS full size cab I'm almost finished with. I've modded it quit a bit so that I can lift up the playfield to mod the inside when I want. Overall I'm happy with it. Did you get a build for the software and tables from somewhere or put that together yourself?

      I use pinball emporium and then add my own tables on top of that

  • @themax4677
    @themax4677 Před rokem

    I just got a 27" cabinet this Christmas (2022) and in general I am happy with it, but there are three things I need to contact them about:
    1. The trap door underneath sits the full thickness of the door below the bottom of the cabinet and the latch doesn't line up right.
    2. Both of the rear pieces of wood that the legs attach to torque out towards the rear the machine eve at finger tightness and the legs are still wobbly. I tightened them more and may install L brackets to hold them in place.
    3. The top box door is too tall so I can't close it.
    So in the end two doors are removed and the rear leg supports are bowed out.
    And yes the instructions are still terrible and in my case, the video was missing the same steps the print ones were so had to wing it.
    And yes they need to label the panels. You can very easily install some parts backwards (especially the vesa mounts) because while the cam holes are ever so slightly different on opposite sides, you can still attach them backwards and won't find out until too late.
    Most of my build time was disassembly to flip stuff over.
    After watching your review I am regretting not getting a DMD much less now. I'm using it just for pinball fx3 and vertical shooters in mame. For PC I am using a Lenovo Thinkcentre Tiny M70q.

      mine is bowed out from all angles, my lower door wouldn't fit correctly and my back door doesn't either. it's definitely wonky. i got it with no graphics so I saved money there, I'm glad I did.

    Nice job building this. A few things I was curious about with this setup. Do you have a make/model of the 27 inch playfield and top monitor? Also, are you getting 60 fps at least on all these tables?

    • @UrGamingTechie
      @UrGamingTechie  Před 2 lety

      i never have a fps counter to make sure its 60 fps, but feels like 60fps to me, never notice any lag or anything, and its alway sbeen said a 1660 can handle 4k pinball with no issues at 60 fps so should be good. As far as the top box, its the one GRS reccoemends on there website. 4K screen unfortunetly i dont have the model off hand since ive had it for over a year now and i cant see the model under the cab since its covered. it is a AOC though.

    Another question I just thought of, you mentioned you've got about $1,500 into this virtual pinball machine. Could you break it down in general where the money was spent? Cpu with gpu, monitors and dmd, accessories. Also, did you get any extras on the gameroomsolutions base model you purchased for $300?

    • @UrGamingTechie
      @UrGamingTechie  Před 2 lety

      Couple reasons. One is I wanted to try this out. Technically I hear this slant is how some people say it should be. With the screen at the front high and back lower. Second is I might eventually take out the plexi glass and have led lights on the back wall, and the screen had to be more down towards the back if I did that. So far after a couple weeks, I like it. Idk if I can say I like one way over the other, I like them both either way and not mad using it in either form.

      Agreed, i like this better for my taste since i knew i wanted a 4k screen and all the bells and whistles. At Games does have some cool stuff like leaderboards etc. But if i want that i could get my fill playing fx3 on my table which has all that for those tables at least. To be Fair though, this build with everything i did easy hits over 1500$ which is more then AtGames

    • @griftgfx
      @griftgfx Před 2 lety +1

      @@UrGamingTechie Zaccaria Pinball on Steam has leaderobards too. I'm kinda on the fence myself. I could see myself going with ATGames and then just modding it so much that it's basically a custom build anyway, just because I like the build of their cabinet. Not the backbox though. I'd redo that. My only hesitation is that I haven't seen any screen swap mods for the playfield. Being able to put a 4K/high refresh monitor in there would be ideal. The route you went is a very compelling option though.
