Nigeria is in a State of Emergency on Food Security - Ife

  • Food Security and agricultural palliatives have been heavily politicised in Nigeria. In a State of Emergency, you waive your right to due process and that's the situation Nigeria is in. Rather than having 4 ministers in the agricultural sector, the Minister of state for Agriculture can be moved to head the ministry of Livestock

    Causes of food insecurity;
    1. Removal of fuel subsidy
    2. Farmers and herders clash
    3. Kidnapping
    4. High interest rate
    5. High tariff on electricity
    6. Looting of the country common wealth
    7. Insecurity.
    8. Exchange rate
    9. Bad road network.
    10. Abeg Nigeria get big problems starting from the leaders.

      2. bandits/herdsmen/ foreign terrorists (not farmers-herders), herders don't go about with AK-47 assault rifles

      It's easier to condemned when many if u can not even plant a stand of maize and nurtured it to cob bearing stage. Is it Tinubu that came in under 1 year that will produce all the food u need? Go back to farm, food production is everyone business.

    The effort of the current admin on agric challenege is commendable. The previous govt didn't try nor acknowledge error. They plan, intervene & re-evaluate. Then restrategize & improve.

    All they need to do is to make clearing tariffs stable. Peg the clearing rate at N1000 to a $1 that will make people to able to to do business

    * Galloping Inflation
    * Insecurity
    * Fuel Scarcity
    * Cost of living crisis, etc!!!
    Any hope in sight?

    It'd high time Nigeria starts thinking about it self and stop helping the rest of Africa. We need to fix Nigeria before we can help others. Ghana, Cameroon, Niger, Benni, Togo, Burkina Faso, and so many more owe us money and continue to get free things from us and our country is in shambles. We need to fully focus on fixing Nigeria and we need to stop being cowards. We can not be scared of what the international community thinks we have to fix our country NOW.

      What help is Nigeria offering other African countries, if I may ask. Some you are very ignorant. Nigeria's issues are internally induced: corruption, ineptitude, nepotism, etc. Stop bloating your ego.

      Buahri destroyed Nigeria. And people all over Nigeria wanted him because he was a humble man. Just like people say Obi is a humble man. No they are both stupid men. The absolute atrocities that Buhari did on Nigeria will probably take multiple smart president to reverse. Nigeria is a huge economy. Nigeria is a top 10 economy just not on paper. on a macro level view, insecurity is not the main thing that has affected food supply. Proof is right on a macro level point of view. His sugestions can be attempted. All sections of the economy has not been totally affected by insecurity. Atleast 65% food supply wil get to problem prone places if the abundance was there in the first place. We are depleted is the main message here from the proof and this should not be so. Oyo state alone is larger in landmass than some countries, we are just not using what we have yet. God bless Nigeria.
