NEW ORLEANS: Sucre Sweet Shop & Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar/Restaurant

- We decided to try a new spot on this trip to New Orleans and head over to Conti Street to Sucre. This is an amazing sweet shop with fresh made macaroons, candies, cakes and gelato. I hadn't had macaroons before so I asked the nice girl in the shop to pick me her favorites. She chose a blackberry lemon, strawberry and watermelon. All were very good! Jason chose pineapple cayaenne gelato and I had coconut basil. These were very unusualy flavors but they were very enjoyable! It was my birthday and I must say that you can't really beat macaroons & gelato for birthday cake and ice cream!!! Next we start walking with the destination to be Lucy's, but on th way we stopped in Jimmy J's for a Bloddy Mary and we discovered a lovely pedestrian walkway that we had never seen before. Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Restaurant is a more local than tourist place we found a few years back. It is on Tchopitoulas Street in the Buisness District. This joint has great atmosphere, great drinks and tasty food! I had a delicoius coconut margatita and we shared a plate of Carnitas Tacos. Yum!

the blackberry lemon looks good - but strawberry is also my fave! :) not sure about the ice cream though :) love the drinks - I've been watching the channel long enough that when I see that great big smile, we know she likes something! :) great looking restaurant - but New Orleans seem a little bit out place for a surfer bar :) the german beer - sehr gut! ;) that taco looks good! reminds me of my fave fish tacos in San Diego! ;) interesting contrast with the old building and new ones for sure! ;) love the old architecture! we sure can't wait to hit New Orleans! we will try all these places you've been showing us! :_) love the t shirt! :) fun video!
Oh all of the macaroons were so good! They had normal flavors of gelato, but we decided to be adventurous and try something new. Mine was really good. My understanding is that the owner of Lucy's opened the first in Florida and opened a second location in NOLA but with the same theming. You are right, it is strange but it is a pretty cool local place. You will love it when you get down here!

EECC Travels Have y'all ever been to a Restaurant called MOTHERS?? Its near Harrahs. I worked there nearly 7 yrs. Amazing Seafood and Poboys. Go there next time u r in New Orleans.

We are getting better at winging it the more we travel and have found it makes for a more relaxed trip. And yes, we are huge foodies so are always looking for the best food!!!
i was just in Nola in November and the highlights of my trip was District Donuts Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit and Bub's Nola Peanut Bubber which is a burger with peanut butter on it

+Joe & Donna Vlog you absolutely have to visit New Orleans!!! There is so much culture in the city and the food is some of the best in the world!!! Drew is a great guy, he has done a lot for the city and it really is his home. His contract is up this year but he has said he will not play for another team, he won’t leave New Orleans!
We were just there for my first time in May and I was shocked at how pricey the drinks were! I was informed I wasn't going to the right places LOL
Unfortunately, the more tourist areas - basically anything in the French Quarter - is overpriced! If you go into the other areas of the city they are priced normally. Hope you enjoyed it, we go to NOLA as often as we can!
Not that 39 is old by any means, 😉 but I honestly would have guessed you were in your late 20's-early 30's, max!
And I should know by now not to watch your videos when I'm hungry. Hahaha. Those tacos looked so good!

Me and Jason both are lucky to look younger than we are... let's just hope it remains true as we get older :) Those tacos were really good, but man you should try the homemade carnitas tacos Jason makes! I keep telling him we need to do some more home/food videos to share his awesome recipes! :)
My husband is the same way! No one ever guesses there's a 13 year age difference between us.

I had to leave another comment because you know me I bench watch a lot of your videos, so a lot of times I just copy and paste the same Hello message to a lot of your videos, but when I see something amazing I just have to leave a one-of-a-kind comment like this one, I have never had a macaroon but now I want to try them especially that Blackberry and lemon one oh yes that purple BlackBerry and lemon one looked so good, I mean before you guys even sat down at the table and bit into it I knew it was going to be good and the strawberry and that watermelon one looked it really good to, you know me I'm black I love watermelon 🍉🤣 hahaha LOL that was a joke but I really do love watermelon, anyway this is becoming a long message because I'm using my microphone and I'm just talkin so let me stop talking, but I will end with this why are those BlackBerry and lemon 🍋 macarons going out of stock, because that's the one I really want to try 😭 I'm going to see if I can try to find it somewhere and if you guys find it somewhere let me know okay that part!*🍪🍉🤣😭
Sucre is an amazing little shop and those macaroons are to die for! I think they may ship... look them up online. There is also another amazing candy store in NOLA called Southern Candymakers. I know for sure they ship and if you have never had a pecan praline... you are missing out!
