SOLO RV TRIP! Colorado to California (Plus INCREDIBLE Ocean Camping!!!)

- Jason is making his first solo RV trip! He dropped Alisa off at the airport to fly to CA for a cruise and is driving from Colorado to California by himself… well not completely as he has the new puppy Pepper to keep him company… and keep him very busy!!
After spending one night in Green River, Utah and the second night in Las Vegas, Nevada… he made it to California. The first stop is Oceanside as we know this area well and it has a lot of great memories for us as our son loved here for four years. You can boondock camp at the Oceanside Harbor and stay right on the ocean.
Keeping the ocean camping going, Jason moved to Carlsbad State Park Beach Campground for the next two nights. It’s so peaceful sleeping right by the Pacific Ocean!!
After picking up Alisa in Long Beach, we made our way to Malibu for more ocean side camping at Malibu Beach RV Park. This is the most expensive campground we have ever stayed at with rates around $225 per night with tax, but it is somewhere we have always wanted to stay so we figured we could swing it for one night.
Our last night of ocean camping was just north of Ventura at Hobson Beach Park. $50 for no hook ups but that’s ok! The location and the views are well worth it! What a beautiful trip we have had on the California coast!

I cannot tell you how happy I am to have you back together again. I watched Alicia's videos on the cruise and I could feel the regret that Jason was not with her. You are the most fun trio to watch because of your varied experiences. Not just cruises, or just RVs but a great mix of both and a great peek into what makes our country so darn special. Add in the whole gang together occasionally and you really have us emotionally invested.
Happy to see you guys back together after filming separately this week. Will watch anything either one of you posts, but together equals magic for me.

We had a black and white Border collie, named Pepper! We loved her so well, she knew how to love each of our family members differently, who liked what and what she could initiate. We lost her after 16 years, we feel like she is having her best day ever, every day now, no illnesses to hold her back! We miss her so very much! Cherish your time!

Trent and Allie have a dog Frank they took with them all over the US and in SA. They would find a local dog park to take him to. I highly recommend doing that. So smart and so full of energy.

When I was a kid, some 50+ years ago, my parents loved to stop at all the KOA campgrounds as we traveled the 49 continental states. Some KOA's were great. Some were sketchy. My mother had a KOA guidebook, and she planned all our evening stops around the KOAs. I was just thinking, this past week, does KOA exist anymore. Now I know.
Ah - we've camped in Carlsbad - love it.
As a Navy brat, I lived in San Diego and San Francisco, and points in between. The produce from Central California is the best! Going north from Ventura you'll go through Pismo Beach and Morro Bay. Get some fresh clam chowder with Pismo clams! I lived in Fresno, near Sequoia, Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks. Amazing stuff! Come back east through my new home, New Mexico!

We had a Border Collie / Qeensland Heeler when we were young... "Snowball" ended up being the smartest dog, able to 'heard' us where she wanted us to go, or when we were trying to ignore mom's yells... LOL

Many years ago now....we drove from the Mexico border up to San Fran via the PCH. I still remember the beauty of that drive ...enjoy the journey.

I lived in Ventura for 8 years and I can assure you the PCH gets a lot better from there.
I have heard good things about the farmers dog wet food. and Sundays for dogs dry food. Mail order for both. Wish they made a version for my cat.
I live in So Cal and Hobson's is my favorite place to camp!

It’s called a grill king. We got it at a the Apple farm and Cider House in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Small and compact for our van 👍

Jason, I wanted to get your opinion on your Travato. I’m trying to decide between a Travato on a Ram ProMaster and something on a Transit chassis with all wheel drive. Have you been satisfied with the power you get driving through the mountains on the ProMaster? Thanks for the answer !
Love everything about the Travato EXCEPT the lack of power it has especially throughout the mountains. It just needs more power. The 3.5 liter eco boost turbo on the Ford Transit was far superior than the Pro Max especially in the mountains! No doubt 👍

Working dogs need to work. Sad thing is that most dogs reflect a world of yesterday when 90% of people were farmers and needed working dogs, so 90% of dogs in our post-agrarian economies go crazy for lack of stimulation.
