After carrying the red truck out of the woods late last summer with the OEM gearbox stripped to oblivion, my ECX Barrage went straight to the shelf, never to run again. However, I have a soft spot for this rig that got me started in the crawler hobby. I wondered if there were a way to Hail-Mary the transmission out of my beloved but run-into-the-ground SCX10ii. Wrong scale, wrong brand, wrong mounting holes, three times too big. I can't believe it worked.

ABOUT THE BARRAGE
A weird and wonderful misfit, The Barrage was the star of all my early videos. In 2016 Horizon Hobby threw together a dog's breakfast of parts from offshore brands like RGT/FTX and called it one-twelfth scale though it had 1.9 tires. Since it was only US150 bucks and eventually around 100 The Barrage got more than a few people hooked on the hobby. The electronics were ill-suited to crawling, the tires were atrocious, alternative bodies were impossible to find, the chassis was not bomb-proof by any stretch, and parts could be hard to source. Still, it had its charms. I bought the kit version in 2018: version II by then, the final version.

another gem rc video..thank you...
perfect location for this RC
Thanks! We're very lucky here in Canada to have more forest than we know what to do with, and undiscovered crawling opportunities everywhere we look. This is something we do not take for granted. Cheers.
Great off-road crawling adventure bro 💯👍👍
Thanks, Maxmix. I appreciate the comment. Cheers...
Nice work! I want to get back to the ravines, although my son vowed to never go back. I will return.
Thanks. It would be good to have you both back. Btw the sketchy narrow wall trail is no longer part of our route. We don't go anywhere near that section anymore.
Nice job! It did well 👏
Thanks, yeah, and the mechanicals kept on going. Just gotta remember to take it easy on the gas, as those spindly little axle parts were meant for a tiny motor and weak ESC -- not a 540 can with a Hobbywing 1080. Cheers!
