Not what I meant, but I feel that was a mistake as well.I feel like he should've been more like Piccolo considering he was the person he was closest to.And Gohan is pretty useless in fights now too.
roxas77729 It fits Gohan's character....Gohan has always stated he doesnt really like fighting.... Plus its not surprising Gohan stopped training. He never trained on his own when he was a kid and just studied. He only trained when he knew that there was something that was going to happen.
I'm not saying it's wrong.I just don't like the direction they took with him.Gohan used to be my favorite character along with Vegeta, but after the Cell arc I lost interest.
roxas77729 I actually love what happened to him after, because once he goes off again (trust me, he totally will) it'll be nuts just like when he first went SSJ2 all over again.
also if I could speak my piece on Gohans downfall...1 thing you notice in this series is that Gohan is not a fighter at heart...all the times he's had to fight was because he had to by someone's influence...but when gohan is left to himself..with no Goku...all chichi banning piccolo from the house Gohan will not train..so when Goku died gohan had gotten 7 years of peace and he stopped training
Yeah. One thing that bothers me is when people say that Gohan became a scholar only because Chichi forced him. I guess a lot of people forget that Gohan was forced to fight all of his enemies. The only time when he did it of his own will was when he became Super Saiyaman and that was to help people and not for fighting itself (which actually was what all of his fights boil down to - he never enjoyed fighting, he had to).

Or seeing a buff and just insist that they play football...yeah they have potential but do ya bother to see if they want to?
To be fair, when living in a peaceful time and as a kid your told school is more important and to always study, ya tend to not become a fighter. People also forget what a huge impact parents have on their kids, at a young age.
Wizzer000 agreed which is another point on top of my main that Gohan was influenced alot...if his dad was around he's game for training..if just his mom he's game for studying eventually when it came down to just him he just chose living his life
Wizzer000 In Gohan's case, he did have a pretty good taste of what fighting is like at a very young age and did spend quite a bit of time training (remember, he had 5 years of non-stop training before he turned 11), so I think he had enough experience to know that it's not for him. Also, it's not "you're told that school is more important", it's that school *is* more important.
If gohan kept training since the day he defeated cell. He probably would have given beerus a good fight even without becoming a Super saiyan god.
Zephyr dyno We can't know, Gohan was easily the strongest Sayian alive during Cell saga, and it took years for Goku and Vegeta to even match him. And later in the Buu saga Gohan surpassed them both again, being way stronger than SSJ3 Goku. So we can never know how strong Gohan would be now if he had trained intensely all the time instead of studying
Zephyr dyno I'm talking about the gap between the end of Cell saga to Battle of Gods, that's like 10 years, and to think how strong Gohan was at the end of Cell saga, Goku and Vegeta had to train intensely every day for YEARS to even catch up to Gohan, now if Gohan had continued his training, he'd be way above Goku and Vegeta right now

evilTaker90V2 gohan would most defined my lose since goku and vegeta in base are stronger than ssj3 gotenks and ult gohan they can go ssj 1-3 on top of that and the god multipliers witch is such an ungodly multiplier and blue witch is speculated to be 10× ssg gohan would still get blown out the water easily beerus was confirmed stronger than ssb goku with kaioken × 10 so beerus is just to strong and so is ssg. gohan minus mystic power and constantly training since cell saga would probably be around where there bases are now witch from what I can see is about equivalent to the strongest buu saga characters so about super vegito lvl so he would be strong but without a god transformation he wouldn't stand a chance in hell

In context this is one one of the best dbz moments because goku predicted it everyone thought he was crazy and then they were just in shock and goku actually gloated for once
Gohan does concentrate on school however later on in the series in the majin boo saga gohans potential is unlocked by elder kai and becomes the strongest non fused character

Gohan fighting next doesn't mean it will be good and badass, I'm not hyped for this yet, Gohan may lose like a little bitch just like piccolo against frost. :'( in my opinion, first we should see in an actual DBS scene if he has the potential to be strong again, then my hype will raise. By that I don't mean a facial expression which look badass but an actual statement of him having the ptoential to be great again told by Goku or smth.

Instead of sucking up something through his tail, he threw something out, that's how the Cell Jr. happend

After Gohan told Cell about his hidden power (even Gohan was aware by this point that he'd have flashes of anger in which he'd become much stronger than normal), Cell wanted to see this power for himself (call it the Saiyan blood in him, making him curious about the challenge). When Cell had trouble getting Gohan angry enough, he created 7 Cell Jrs to basically torture the other fighters. Even that wasn't really enough and it took Android 16's advice and sacrifice to put Gohan over the edge.
Fun fact: even though there were explicitly 7 Cell Jrs, you can see Gohan kill 8 of them. While this is probably just a mistake, I've seen some suggest that one of the Cell Jrs used Tien's ability to split into multiple bodies.
Gohan doesn't seek a fight, he fights only as a defence.

this is right after the super saiyan 2 transformation and before he is starting to fight cell and knock him out with 2 punches
You need to watch the Cell Vs. Gohan fight. Not the kamehameha beam struggle when Cell comes back, but their fight before Cell blew himself up.

It was always part of Gohan's character that he hated fighting. He only fights when the world is at stake and the people he loves is in danger.
The reason the Cell fight was so amazing is because he was so out of character after his transformation. He literally decides to tortures Cell at one point. It was Goku's death that brought him back to reality.
cell basically pooped them out of his tail and created his own live poop
Cell spat the Jr's out of his tail to have them attack the Z fighters to get Gohan angry and transform. It happened before Android 16's head is crushed.
Fun fact: Cell spawned 7 Cell Jrs, but Gohan killed 8. That's just how badass he was.

Cell made the 7 Cell Jrs so that they would beat the shit out of Goku, Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, Trunks, and Vegeta in hopes of making Gohan have no other choice but to push out all his rage and go SSJ2 (the whole time Gohan knew he had the power but he's not a fighter and he's like 12 so he was scared to let it out and Cell having Saiyan DNA wanted nothing more than Gohan to show his true potential and the whole time Gohan was *BEGGING* him to stop). That, combined with Cell killing Android 16 right in front Gohan did the trick and he finally snapped and obliterated all those fuckers, and eventually the BIG fucker lol.
*FUN FACT*: There was suppose to be 7 Cell Jrs, but because of a slip up on the animators part, there was 8 Cell Jrs that Gohan killed lol
Vegeta and Trunks were on par with the Cell Jrs. And if Goku was at full power here the three of them could probably have slapped all the Cell Jrs.

It's not THAT much of a disappointment that Gohan stopped training. People tend to forget he became a fighter out of necessity, not merit.
Besides, he got laid, married a hot Asian wife, and had a kid! I'd say that's a fair trade.

It's right after Gohan's transformation which you have already seen. He makes the Jr's earlier to try to push Gohan's nerves. Cell actually WANTED Gohan to transform, but he didn't realize that Gohan would turn into an indestructible Ascended Saiyan. This is Gohan getting revenge on the Jr's for nearly killing all of his friends, prior to Android 16 coming and telling him to let go of his feelings and squash Cell.

my memory may be hazy, but it kinda went like this; goku conceded his fight to cell, and sent his son in to fight. after which he gave cell the senzu. cell then proceded to mop the floor with gohan and the "Goku is a bad father" scene unfolds.
goku was confident at first because he saw first hand, that gohan would occasionally snap, and suddenly be ableto keep up with and briefly overwhelm the powerful bad guy at hand. Raditz, Nappa, recoom, freeza, and so on.
goku explained it to piccolo, gohan realized it later and explained it to cell. HERE, cell, eager to see this power gave birth, via his tail, to a bunch of mini cells.
these cells went on to beat up gohan's friends and family simultaneously.
it was then that android 16 convinced hercule to chuck his decapitated head to gohan so he could givehis speech to make him snap.
