I played the truly kludgy PC release of this game back in the day. Good to hear that the game is actually difficult and that little me didn't just suck at it. I managed to beat it, but the Sid's Room levels taught me hatred.

this couch is so hype
This game was made the same way as the DKC games where 3D models were scanned into being 2D sprites for a smooth animation process.
And doesn't have mono coloured jeans nor long load screens.
Which is funny cause everyone on the couch for this run is a dkc runner.
The Genesis version of Toy Story is waaaaaaaay better

This is the type of community I would expect from a speedrunner. Relaxed but with intense focus. Without depth to the game other than RNG and frames.
This was like the last good GDQ run IMO. It's fun, everyone's charismatic, nobody's whiny or dead inside, shit's good.
I don't watch speedruns at all and this is definitely one of the best runs along wiht Bloodborne and RE7. Very chill, informative and funny commentary.
You need to watch DrTChops run Skyrim in SGDQ 2016, or practically any Bethesda game from SGDQ 2016. And Jak and Daxter by Bonesaw at the same event had fucking hilarious commentary.
Kingdom Hearts 3 looks great.

I had the PC port of this game as a child. Never could get past the first RC level, the controls were just so unresponsive and it was ridiculously challenging. It's nice to finally see the rest of what this game had to offer! Great run, guys!

Impressive graphics for a SNES game
Right at the end of a console's life is where you usually see what could be done when you really pushed it. This came out the same year the Playstation was released, I believe? If not very close.
The first two Toy Story games had pretty impressive graphics for their time, though this one's more impressive for the SNES/Genesis, compared to Toy Story 2's for the N64/PS1/DC.
Gamehut on youtube is one of the developpers and he explains a lot on how they could do this

I don't know how I managed to beat this game as a kid. Whoever was behind the design of this game clearly didn't want children to play it.

I've beaten the claw boss the same way once as a kid. Until today I didn't have any idea what even happened. It's interesting to see that it wasn't completely random.

I remember very little about this game, as I played it as a kid. Maybe I had my parents rent it from blockbuster or something, or maybe we owned it and just sold it, but I still remember getting to that one spot and never being able to get further...

I remember playing this on my Sega Megadrive as a kid, I never got anywhere.

The Alien Machine level is Soooo hard, i can't beat it even now that i play on emulator, literally there is just not enough time
Everyone says the SNES version is the best, but I remmember having the PC version for this game (bought it from a Scholastic catalogue), and also actually beat it when I was a child. Note, Keyboard controls are way easier.
Genesis > PC > SNES > GB

I remember as a kid the second level killed me a bunch because i didnt know what to do, then when i beat that the doom like level almost got me a gameover, but once i beat that i beat the game for the first time, and i only died on one level, the one where the dog chases u, then went through every other level first try, and btw i played the genesis version.

Josh Walker it is for crash prevention. It was a way for the developers to get around Sega's testing before a game could get greenlit. If the game didnt crash easily then it would be approved

It's a sprite overload. With so many aliens, stars, etc. the game can't handle having that many things on screen so it proceeds to the next level.
