Just to clarify, Mahindra did not make a Jeep clone, they bought the rights to the Willy's CJ Jeep design in 1947. This is a modern designed Willy's, nothing cloned about it. Stellantis (AKA FCA or Dodge/Jeep/RAM/Chrysler/FIAT) couldn't make this if they wanted since Mahindra currently owns the rights to this design. So officially speaking, this is the new Kaiser Willy's Jeep, called the Mahindra Roxor.

Mahindra started manufacturing the original Willys Jeep (under license)for Indian Military in 1950s to late early 80s. Roxor is built on same platform.Due licensing and commercial issues Mahindra can not use the trademark Jeep Grill in USA or can sell competing Behring USA .. so non street legal Roxor with a modified grill is sold in US

Happy to see the Roxor has returned for 2022 and 2023. I actually prefer the new non Jeep front end look. It gives the Mahindra Roxor its own identity. And it’s still mostly the same as before otherwise, but you no longer buy it at your power sports center. You now buy it at the agricultural equipment store instead. And it does not offer the selection of gear it had before.
Its day in the sun may have set, but it is still a solid choice for the dedicated off road and farm/ranch crowd.
It’s price has taken a significant jump so it’s no longer such a bargain Purchase as it was before Jeep squashed it and forced the redesign. But it’s still a solid choice.

      Not really.
Mahindra bought the rights of CJ3A and CJ3B from willy's in 1949. That time , Willys company was owned by Kaiser. The name was then changed to kaiser jeep and then AMC bought the company and changed its name to JEEP. Also, these license's were given to Mitsubishi in Japan and to Mahindra in India. only difference is, with time Jeep company turned their products into luxury vehicle segment. while Mahindra stayed true to the DNA of CJ series and gave us the cheap and reliable MM540, MM550, Classic, Major, Legend and then finally in 2010 the Mahindra Thar. All of these versions from 1949 to 2015 are very faithful renditions of the original and old CJ series jeeps. However, with the new 2020 thar, things are looking very close to the modern JEEP products like Rubicon and wrangler.

This is a new chassis. New engine. No parts of new 2020 thar are interchangeable with the old thar or JEEP wrangler and rubicon.
The reason I said it looks close to rubicon or wrangler is because the hardtop design looks very similar to one on the wrangler. Also the Red and black colour scheme makes it looks like wrangler.
As far as the DNA goes, this is a completely new DNA. Its a completely original design that takes old thar into consideration and gives it a modern twist. Apart from that, it does not share the DNA of THAR, Classic, Legend or MM 540. Neither does it shares DNA with the american JEEP products. New thar is bigger than old thar versions. Both interms of dimensions and power. And the new thar is smaller in terms of dimensions and power if we compare it to wrangler or rubicon.

@WAKE up INDIA to me something starting at 17,000 or 18,000 US dollars is a lot. Specially when you can't legally put it on the road. I shouldn't of called it junk. I bet it is cool to ride in,but not being able to leave my property with it would suck!!!

@Amit SharDa yeh... I don't think I wanna spend 18,000 then have to worry about making it street legal, kinda stupid if you ask me! Just make a version that is street legal..simple. other then that it's a expensive toy you can only use if you own a ton of land or farm I guess.

@@wildone5295 Well I think you can make it street legal with few modifications. Don't know though how much it'd cost.

Yes....we needed bigger and better vehicles. The M1 Garand was phased out too but that doesnt mean it cant to lesser jobs.

Its street legal in India, by the name of Mahindra Thar, named after the Thar Desert in Rajasthan (west India), we have a tradition of Jeeps in this state till now and people here have religious belief attached with it.............you may call this state as THE LAND OF JEEPS!! and yes its not a clone!! Thar got various mods here in India, Roxor is the backbone of Thar, you can say...............
