    Just had brand new tires installed yesterday. My old ones were pretty bad after 4 years of driving. I can tell a huge difference.

    Also, you should not keep your tires more than 6 years or older. Check the manufacturing date stamped on the inside of the tire. It's the 4 digits inside an elongated circle or oval. The first 2 digits represent the # of the week out of 52 and the last 2 digits the year. So, don't buy tires that have been siting in the store for years. They start suffering from dry rot.

    Brock,
    Prior to watching your video, I had no idea on how to evaluate tire tread. Afterwards, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable examining my tires. Also, your inclusion of the tools to gauge tire tread was awesome, thank you for that! There is one thing that I wish you would've included. I am a largely visual learner and it would've been helpful to me if you had included a close-up split frame of a good tire's tread in comparison to a used tire. Thanks for your help!

  • @bremCZ
    @bremCZ Před 7 lety +3

    They are not called "wear bars". They are called "Tread Wear Indicators" which is why many tires have. TWI on the shouldwr or the small trianges at various points on the shoulder to show you where you can find the tread wear indicators.
    It's also not called a "Tread measurement little trick". It's called a "tread depth guage"
    The best advice is, go to your local tire store as often as possible, almost all of them will do a free pressure and condition check and you can actually see it measured with the correct guage yourself. Also do not measure one groove of the tire, measure all of them. In extreme cases you can measure all grooves well above the legal limit and still have a dangerous tire so please get a professional to check them at least once a month.
