  • First video, One take, so please be gentle.
    I wanted to give my review and opinion on why you should pay the extra money and get a brushless motor.
    More power, more run time, less heat, prolongs the life of your batteries.

    I'm 78 and just got the brushless 40v Ryobi. I used it for the first time today with foot high grass and weeds even higher. Arizona has had a continuous month of rain and storms. This is suppose to be a desert. The unit worked like a charm with no problems. It was, not heavy and, easy to use. Even on high, there was still battery life when I finished. It is a great product.

Though the brushed was $200 with the blower I think I will switch to brushless for $30 more and longer battery life, power, and longer engine life. Thanks for this.... My remorse was justified 😱🤣😂

    Thanks, and you're right about brush anything in any brand. My rotary tool is dying so I don't use it for fun projects anymore because once the brushes go I won't have one anymore. If it were not brush it could be repaired instead of pitched like a disposable product. Bummer. I just bought mine a couple of days ago and my leaf blower is a stand alone and it doesn't have that narrow tube. Mine has a huge tip like a cannon and seems weak to me. I think because the tip is almost as fat as the blower. It'll do the job, though, I guess.

    • @JP-ug1xr
      @JP-ug1xr  Před 3 lety +1

      100% agree with your observation on the 500cfm 110mph Air Cannon. I've tried a few nozzles to narrow it and get the air speed up, it very easily stalls the fan and becomes useless. I think it stalls so readily because they build them with so much gap between the blades and the housing. The expand it blower I use is 475cfm @ 140mph, and it's substantially more powerful then the Air Cannon.

    I bought everything yard related Makita...brushless...except for the edger and trimmer -- so much cheaper with Ryobi.... but now I know why. It got pretty hot right away, and the battery died in about 30 min....takes 2+hrs to recharge. I'm having second thoughts on the savings--might not be worth the brush (troublesome) drain/heat. Thanks for the comparison.

  • @hypurrfpv9483

    I have the brushless motor head and a brushless blower since I know a little about electric motors and knew brushed is far inferior. I also have the same attachments (except the blower, of course). I did find a trick for a 2nd battery. I looked at the price of batteries and they are about $150 but you can get a brushless blower for $169 and it comes with a battery and charger. So, you get the extra battery for $150 plus a charger and blower for $19.

    I didn't catch if these were bump heads or auto feed. I am totally fed up with especially RYOBI auto feed trimmers.
    I have had two of them and still have one and it SUCKS big time. Royobi nor Home Depot would do anything about the problem. It was always operator error according to them. These here look pretty good though and thanks for the video.

    I have an even older brushed one that spins way slower than your brushed one. I only use it for edging, and it constantly stops. I don't use it for weed whacking because it just pushes the grass around. I need an upgrade for sure, but I can't decide between the ego or the Ryobi brushless. I already have the edger attachment for Ryobi, and I have both ego and Ryobi batteries. How is your brushless one holding up so far?

    • @JP-ug1xr
      @JP-ug1xr  Před 3 lety

      Yes it does, it's very easy to modulate the speed. It's idea for delicate situations because the throttle is linear. Some gas machines are hard to control with their torque curve and low speed.
