    Thanks for the video! I'm a beginner crawler/trailer, coming over from aviation. Bought a RGT86010 CJ, for an economical starter. Stretched it to 313mm, and ran a Wrangler hardbody, the whole time running imitation predators.($20 a set) You absolute are correct, when you said any of those will be an improvement over rtr stockers! Saw your older video on tire comparison, bit the bullet and bought some Predator Hyrax. I could not believe the difference!! It made my crawling experience so much more enjoyable! This video just reinforced the choice. I'm finally convinced, $ for $, it was the single most impactful addition to my truck, performance wise, in rock crawling anyway. Keep up the good advice.

    keep in mind the deepwoods basically require a dual stage foam, its performance is a thousand times better with a set of lil nova 4.5's with med in the rear and soft up front, also work very well with the proline xl foams if you have beadlocks with a slot of them

    I run the Proline KM3's, Pitbull Bloodaxes in Alien compound, and also the VP tires so many complain about that actually work extremely well. In the Prolines I run crawler innovation medium inner, the Bloodaxes I run Crazy Crawler WP closed cell with width cut down to match, and the VP tires I ran the stock foams which worked well and also crawler innovation medium inner 4.75 tall that work extremely well. I live in the Bay and crawl from here to Truckee area so my terrain is wet, dry, soft soil, compacted soil, loose rock/gravel, and up in the sierras add in granite/slickrock. The Deep Woods tread can be siped for more traction. You should retest with every other center peg removed. I chose siped Deep Woods over the tall and short Hyrax 1.9. I did thing the Hyrax required more breaking in though but got impatient and sold both. Just like the Traxxas Cantyons can be siped too. The Deep Woods when siped work great on 3.5lb trucks with dual stage foams too. You should revisit this test with the new to 2021 Pitbull and Jconcepts tires too.

    And overdrive, extended 4 links,
    1080 ESC.
    Still stock motor but I intend on crawlmaster soon.
    Low wheel speed provides grip where there is touch to grab.

    Deep Woods takes 2nd for me, hyrax 3rd for my terrain unless I'm on the rocky riverbeds, then it's swapped. But for only rocks I use ultra PL Ibex anyways. 👍 Please do a vid on the ruptures with PL dual stage foam. It doesn't fit properly and that's the secret.

They are grippier than an ant eaters tongue and can grip better than any tire out there. I guess you can do the same with the Ruptures and hyrax. Too much tread causes tires to plane the surface rather than bite it which is why removing every other knobby helps big time. I use lexan scissors then clean it with a dremel sanding drum. Mineral spirits make the tire permanently super soft and you will need a super stiff inner foam and soft outer to sidehill steep angles.

    Anyone seen a video with a comparison between the tires that come with the redcat gen8 v2 and the proline hyrax? My understanding is they improved the compound since the v1 so I'd like to know if that narrowed the gap between the stock tire and the best tire

    The km3 are best imo. The hyrax are very bad in sandy conditions as the km3 is good on rocks but awesome on sandy hills and self cleaning! You forgot that. The hyrax will pick up all sand and will be done there. So all terrain the km3 is best out thers

      The deep woods. And for dirt and loose ground, you can cut some of the profile and it works even better.

    Another great video!
    Hyrax is really good and suitable for TRX4, but Deep Woods are really good for lighter crawlers like Axial SCXII (look at this video czcams.com/video/H_O-F1pxd80/video.html).
    As you mentioned for Hyrax, Deep Woods need some hours of work to get out the best performance that lasts forever, even after a lot of consumption.
    Some other really good tires are:
    - Proline Krawler (after many hours of use)
    - Proline Super Swampers large (impressive as you take from the shelf)
    - JConcept Landmine (110 and 120 km diameter, when are clean their grip is really impressive)
    - Duratrax Scaler (after many hours of use)
    - Pitbull original (110 or 120 mm diameter)
    Making a classification is not so easy because it depends much from single obstacle material/surface and WET CONDITIONS with slippery rocks may change a lot.

      I'm looking to either get the hyrax or the Krawlers. I usually do dry and wet rocks and unsure of what to pick any suggestions?

    • @montesamapping
      @montesamapping Před 2 lety +1

      @@flamekills9554 I think each one is a good chance, maybe Hyrax is a bit better on wet because of its sharp and thin profiles, but also depend on the car you have and the foam you buy. For TRX-4 Hyrax + G8 is a good choice, for Axial SCXII or similar lighters cars, Krawler + Predator compound maybe a better (and also best looking, in my opinion) choice.
      Krawler design is not much efficient in turns, because of its trasversal design, Hyrax performs really better in turns.
      Anyway Proline rubber is really good on any kind of tires they made.

    • @montesamapping
      @montesamapping Před 2 lety +1

      @@flamekills9554 Another consideration is about the rock surface.
      If rocks surface is quite flat, maybe Hyrax is better, but if you have scattered rock surface Krawler may hang better to any irregularity because of their larger dowels.
      This is so relevant that happens even with cheap Krawler like tires !
