- "There's No Stopping Us" (more commonly known nowadays as Cargo Movin' People) was a song produced by the J. Walter Thompson Company in 1980 for the N&W as part of there "There's No Stopping Us" advertising campaign. It was originally available to N&W Employees in the form of a Eva-Tone Soundsheet & distributed via the July 1980 Issue of The Norfolk & Western Employee magazine. Following the merger, the song was used in Marc S. Balkin's Rail's To Roanoke show, produced in 1987 (documenting that year's NRHS Convention, held in Roanoke, Virginia with N&W 611 & 1218). This recording, sourced from an original Eva-Tone Soundsheet is the best quality version now available to my knowledge.
This needs to be on Spotify
This is the best version I've ever heard!
Just bought one tonight (as of 12/13) and I think it’s safe to say I’m pretty lucky to get my hands on one of these!
Just curious; where could I acquire one? I'd love to own one. Been searching for them for a while
@@liverymakerguy7206 I somehow found one on eBay for $30. They’re extremely rare. Just came across it that day and bought it.
eBay that’s where I got Mine well it was a Christmas gift
Absolutely incredible to hear it with this level of fidelity

I bought one of these NW flexi discs a few months ago on ebay. One of the best records i have
2:37 - It almost sounds like he's laughing while saying that
"We're Cargo Movin' Peopl-huhuh what a dumb line."
I had a few of those floppy records...wish I still had them.
Better than Union Pacific's corny ass theme song
Agreed
N&W had no right to drop such a f*ckin banger.
Best quality version I have heard
Glad to see this is finally out there! I tracked down a copy a couple years ago and got it digitized with restoration by a friend of mine. Just never got around to uploading it, I probably will eventually just for the restorations sake. I am mostly glad that after all these years of misinformation about the songs title, and even people saying as if it were fact that CW McCall recorded this, that the true information is finally known. However, the shorter versions of the songs that were recorded for radio ads are still at large. Hmmm……
NW was a great railroad and this song keeps it living
It may have been 40 years since it became Norfolk Southern, but in many ways this song still rings true with regards to the NS
Not really anymore
@@csxtfarmer I made this comment right before the East Palestine. Derailment maybe a day or so a few weeks at most. At the moment perhaps you are right, but I don’t doubt that if and inevitably when the rail industry gets its act together again, my original comment shall again be true.
@@lucasquintanilla1673 Murder me if you want, but I feel as if the NS dishonors the NW at least as of recent.
@@lucasquintanilla1673Mention Palestine to anyone nowadays, regardless of whichever word you put before it, and the war in Gaza will spring to mind, not an oil train derailment.
Great sounding song!
Can this version be used in videos or is it forbidden?
C W McCall is singing Cargo movin people.
It isn’t actually. I was thinking this too but it was whatever ad agency from Norfolk that’s on the record
Edit: after watching a whole D&S documentary narrated by the man the myth the legend, C.W. McCall, I can now say that I truly think he was brought into the ad agency to do the song. Especially after listening to his song Silverton which is very similar
Heavy C.W McCall and Jim Stringer vibes.
Norfolk and Western...THERE'S NO STOPPING US!
Where can I buy this?
As denoted in the description:
"It was originally available to N&W Employees in the form of a Eva-Tone Soundsheet & distributed via the July 1980 Issue of The Norfolk & Western Employee magazine."
Copies of "There's No Stopping Us" can be found in copies of the July 1980 issue of the Norfolk and Western Railway Magazine. (That is if the magazine still has the record within it, as it was removable so it could be played on vinyl record player. It sometimes appears on Ebay but very rarely does.
How did you get the audio of the song and the record aswell?
What’s on side B?
There's no B Side
@@NickelPlatedProductions gotcha, that’s strange.
@@Kmaster2007 not really considering there's no other song and it would cost extra to make it have two of the same song.
Its actually not called cargo movin people?
Correct, it was actually called "There's No Stopping Us" as part of the N&W's "There's No Stopping Us" Ad Campaign in 1980.
Can you do korail too? [Korail's Song]
Song gets interrupted by screech's psst
