Question I heard that some people experience lower pressure on their oil pressure gauge is that something you see with the blue biscuit
I'm having a tough time deciding bypass vs CAT, for sure one of them is coming to my Duramax.
Bypass it and install a liftpump
@@TruckMaster What bypass system are you recommending? I'm looking at the Parker system. Looks to be near identical to Insane product at considerable savings.
Ordered this setup today for my LB7. I also ordered the CAT filters for my FASS 95 based on your other videos. My buddy is a CAT tech so I got a hookup. I personally do 3k oil changes but I run dino oil. Iâm actually switching to CAT 15w40 for oil too. Total CAT Dirtymax rig baby!
Hello there I have an lb7 with a fass pump too Iâm about to put this kit any recommendation or what are your thoughts after 2 years please let me know thanks
I have the amsoil dual bypass system and it filters the oil so clean after 5,000 miles it still looks gold/brown and it adds even more capacity than the cat filter and itâs specifically made for the engine.
Im late to the party on this one but I just order mine thanks for all your videos brother they do help me a lot with my lb7âs
Sorry for the bother. I have the CAT's on the way. Is there an issue with dry starts using the CAT? Thanks, Eric
Looking at the spin on filter for the Allison I'm going to say it has been a while since it has been changed. I'm no expert, but for the cost of the spin on and eight ounces of ATF, I change the Allison filter since I'm already under the truck at every motor oil change. Just my $0.02.
Iâm late to the party on this one but I did just order the kit from MDD. Thanks for another great vid!
Thanks!
Thanks Josh, I just ordered a kit for my 2010 Chevy 2500 LMM
How can I order one
If you add a additive this makes it easy. 10qts of oil then 1 qt of additive. đđ»No more buying 10 and using 9 and having to measure it out.
Great vid
On my 2010 LMM the extractor peace broke ( its supper weak) so I used vice grips and a socket to get it off.
Ps: if yours has a way to use a socket just use one it makes it way easier. Some trucks it's just the niple and some a socket will fit on.
I have always found 5000 to be a good interval for a diesel.
Hey boss question I have oil pressure on my Duramax LBZ my mechanic is telling me to get a cat oil filter kit that it would improve the oil pressure. What do you think? Is that true or is just a waste of money?
thanks truck master
Now you need to make a custom CAT Sticker. Everyone will need one when they get all their CAT filters on lol.
Just so you know our new F2 adapter is for the 2001 to 2010 Duramax, it does not require the old adapter to be removed. Just screw it on, torque it, done.
Link?
honestly i like his bucket catch setup more than my lincoln catch. lot easier to dump a bucket than clean out the Lincoln catcher
Love to get a look at that orange tool cart in the shop
Just order the sinister diesel Caterpillar Fuel filter adapter Thank I'm going to have to get this one to
I run 10,000 miles on my lbz with high quality oil.
Awesome video in the shop with a how to do it yourself on a great upgrade. Your e-mail isn't registering to send anything
I need one good looking out
I will buy the Schaeffers from now on if Logan recommends it. I found 6 gallons for $180. 7000 series
Another AWESOME Video..... Thank You Sir(s)! I will be picking this Mod up myself very Soooon.
They should screw in by hand, the filter should screw on by hand. You should only have to torque it to 20 ftlbs to keep it in. If it doesnât fit return it. There have been some really bad copies.
And fill the filter as much as possible before installing.
I do the same as you Rev, but filling the filter through the center hole seems to be a real controversial thing. Most manufacturers advise not to do this since the center hole is the return to engine feed hole, claiming new oil in the bottle is not filtered as well as an oil filter does.
What about cold starts and oil drain back valve... Running this filter are you hurting the engine on cold starts?
True. And I donât see these being less expensive at all. 2x3x more expensive. And more filtration means more oil restriction and pressure loss and more heat.
Oil would somehow have to flow uphill to leave the filter.
It's been 6 months, so how's it doing?
I stopped doing videos there so Iâm not to sure
@@TruckMaster Did you change to Amsoil and consider adding the BMK27 bypass filter system? There's a great video by Don Smith on it. I've been researching it for sometime and it looks good.
Thatâs like a $20 filter. You can get AC Delco filters for $10 at Walmart and have recommended 10k mike intervals. The CAT fuel filter was a good idea back in the day since they were only $20 vs $60 for a quality fuel filter. Too bad about them not having water seperators
This video is about an oil filter, you're talking about fuel filters.
Ian Hill what I was getting at was that the cat fuel filters were cheaper than stock filters which made them appealing. But these oil filters are more expensive than a factory ACDELCO PF2232.
Gotcha. This thing really seems to be a product in search of a problem. The Duramax is incredibly easy on oil and can do 10k intervals(with oil analysis) with a stock style filter. And like you said, this filter is more expensive. It just makes no sense. Then add on top of it that the CAT filter doesn't have a bypass valve and even possibly no back flow valve, it's a downgrade in all reality.
stayunique91 cheaper than a CAT, but filters less. 2 micron vs 10 micron on an lb7 can come out to a $4K difference. Iâll pay $20 any day.
Ian Hill as for the bypass....letting in-filtered oil run through the engine is not a good idea. Thatâs why we filter it. Bypass does exactly the opposite and you donât know when itâs open or closed. As for a check valve, itâs equal with the pan so I donât see the issue, itâs a flooded suction.
What are step on taking off turbo to replace it ?
Sinister diesel probably left a dislike after seeing blue biscuit
Lol đ itâs gotta be them
Awesome I just found you on you tube ...can I put the same Cat oil filter on my 2016 LML GMC ...your videos are very informative
Mine takes 11 without that big filter
This is a great, simple, upgrade! Any chance you can get us a coupon code for a small discount on the kit?? :)
Not sure I will have to ask
My research of that filter a few months ago kept me from installing one on my L5P. That filter doesnât have a bypass valve or worse yet, it doesnât have a back flow valve. So if you like dry starts or your engine starting with all the oil in the oil pan and not the upper engine where the back flow valves keeps it, then use this filter.
That is pretty important info to consider ! Just becuase its a filter doesnt necessarily mean that its for your application
I havenât read that anywhere yet... I get my filters for free and I see that the filtration is better and I can get cat I am all over it... But if what your saying is true I like to see more.
mddperformance.com/collections/filter-conversions/products/cat-oil-filter-adapter-kit
The site talks about no bypass valve but doesnât mention the anti drain back valve. The site does have an image of an opened filter. There are no valves in the cat filter.
Can we get truck master to chime in on this please... I bought the kit and I wonât put it on if thereâs issues with it....
Truck master what are you thoughts on this man post I'm considering buying an oil filter kit but after reading this man's post I'm second guessing... Thank you sir very good information to consider before buying..
Hey does this work for the LML as well.
Yes
@@TruckMaster is the part number the same
Does the nipple removal tool with the kit able to work to re install the factory oem nipple once it has been taken off? I would like to re install the factory nipple as i have now taken it off.. putting the oem nipple back on.. can i use that removal tool to tighten on the nipple? What you do recommend thanks in advance
What brand was that adapter
You do this to your trucks?
Not yet but Iâm making a CZcams video on it
Truck Master you should do one on Cat fuel filter and oil filter upgrade
I saw you're back at Matt's, so how did this mod perform? Or should I just call Matt and ask him?
Has this Cat oil filter system been tested or reviewed?
I believe MDDP does not make this part. He buys it from Karen's Transport, adds the stock nipple removal tool to the kit and repackages it. I think there is some reviews on www.karenstransport.com
the factory dash indicator shows me at 5% at just under 10000 miles
Better be careful about making videos about the blue biscuit now. Sinister diesel might sue you since they own the rights to the color blue now. Lol I donât know if you heard yet about the crap storm they have made for themselves... if not might want to look into it. Would make for a good video. But good video josh like always keep them coning
Iâm really not into sinister anymore itâs not cool that other companies canât make blue diesel parts but it probably wouldnt be a good move on me to make a video on that take care man
Truck Master yeah thatâs true man. I just canât believe that they would be that worried over a color.
Curious, besides this being fun and I know a bigger filter means more filtration, but now you need to buy a more expensive filter and an extra quart of oil each oil change just to add a couple thousand miles between changes. Wouldn't changing your oil sooner than usual using high end oil do about the same thing and cheaper?
Why isnât the ratchet clicking đ
Besides an extra quart of oil, what are some of the pluses of this swap if you still change oil at 5,000 miles?
More filtration, more pleats in filter media, no filter bypass valve like stock filter, plastic center tube to help prevent metal contamination, cat filter uses nylon beads to help keep pleats from bunching together where stock uses almost nothing. Search youtube for filter cut open comparison videos
10-4 preciate it
Looks like an easy up fit, likely need to add this to mine here soon also!

Just so you know MDDP is not authorized to sell these anymore. He has taken my design copied it and had poorly made copies made in some cases the threads were not finished and the inside hole not the proper diameter. I have had several people try to return them to me and when I saw the adapter it was clear that it was not one of mine. So beware.
What is your brand?
Love watching your channel. Keep up the good work. Did the oil pressure change after the big filter. When I drove gas trucks I tried bigger oil filter for more capacity and blew up my engine before the next oil change. I am curious on how long someone has been running this filter set up if it makes a difference.
The oil press looked normal after the install so no issues with this yet but I havenât heard anything bad about this kit
Ive been running it for about 10k and my dash shows 10% oil life, hope this helps
Thank you guys for your input. I will be getting this for my next oil change. Josh, I remember you having to need to replace your wheel bearing. Just wondering if you had done it. I did mine and I thought it would bad considering I live in New England with all the salt in the winters. It took me about 2 hours for drivers side. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Do you fill the oil filter first or start the truck with the filter dry?
I disconnect the harness so the engine cant fire, and then I turn it over a few times to fill the oil filter.
@@blfjr2005 waiiiit that's a joke right? Lol
Fill it before you put it on the truck and put some oil on the gasket (on the filter) then screw it on and proceed
Interesting that I just happened to be looking at MDDP last night getting ready to order that kit. Its about that time to do another oil change. Then when itâs time for the fuel filter change Iâll order the CAT kit for it too.
Enough with the commercials get to the point.
I wonder how long you get ZERO oil presser with that huge dry filter ???
Iâve never had that problem
Truck Master Iâm happy to hear that I always pre-fill my little 1qt cummins filter And that thing is way bigger
No kidding
Truck Master Yeah it would make sense thatâs a lot of Space to fill with oil before the system is able to get all the air out

First
Just curious why you would want to spend more money for less filtration 20 microns...mobil filter is 10 at %97 or something like that....just makes no sense but to say look at my big stupid cat filter that doesnt filter oil as good as a less expensive filter.....
This video supports your opinion:
czcams.com/video/ZhYOmm6bNjs/video.html
i find this quick stupid but hey nice vid lol :) Ac delco filter from rockauto.com every 4-5k and i cann it good with 15-40 delo heavy duty diesel oil
ur a day late and a dollar short my friend. done this mod a long time ago. but remember friend, once mod is done u can't use the old oil filter no more unless u reverse ur mod.
Sooo you can't reverse it until you reverse it??? Wow that's deep
all oil is the same! these name brands are piling up the money on profit lol I change my supertech Wal-Mart oil fluid every 2,500 miles and ac delco filter every 5,000!
The SuperTech filters are pretty good too according to the disections I've seen. Better than the Frams
You should never go more than 4500 miles. Ever. Iâve tested oils, synthetic and conventional, Lucas, ams, shell, and others. They all are breaking down around the same time frame. If you canât afford to put good oil in your truck, doing it often, and canât afford to take care of the truck. Donât own a diesel.
* Footbalspartan keep your mouth shut and worry about your own shit. You donât pay for someone elseâs shit. Youâre probably the type of person that tells their ex they canât sleep with certain people.
I test my oil with each oil change and run Liquid-Moli every 5,000 miles. Currently over 200,000 mi and my test result are golden đ
Interesting comment. I know of two gentleman that have proved exactly opposite. They send oil in every 4-5k for analysis and change oil at 20-25k. One runs Schaeffer the other is Delo XSP. Both diesels...
Clearly modern engine oil doesn't break down at 5,000 miles, at least not to the point where it loses lubricity and causes damage. If this was the case, you'd have bearing failure on tens millions of trucks that have 5,000 mile or greater oil service intervals.
You know I was actually wondering something like that. 10,000 - 15,000 is a lot of miles to put on oil. Oil still breaks down overtime, no matter how well it is filtrated.
