  • Deep in Canyon Country is one of the most beautiful trails in Utah... Poison Springs. It's been over four years since I have tackled this trail and I have been itching to get back. So when Donald over at Softroadingthewest asked me to join him on his epic Utah trip I was excited to join and show him a few of my favorite places. We met early Friday morning for two days of adventure.

    Jared, this was absolutely spectacular! I know very well the difficulty of getting the camera to do justice to the majesty of some places, but honestly I was surprised watching this...I already remembered this as my most epic drive of the week but in your video it actually looks even better than I remember. The drone shots are fantastic and really hammer home how mind-blowing these landscapes were.
    I also know very well how difficult it is to boil down hours of footage into a concise, watchable story, and you just nailed it here. I was entirely captivated even though I knew what was coming next, haha! Music soundtrack was on point as well. Such nice work, you should have SO many more subscribers.
    Thank you again for meeting up and planning this incredible excursion. It really was the highlight of my week in Utah.

    That route is already on my list for next fall.
    From that sign going into the national park it gets tougher and slower going. 7 months ago we went down Flint Trail and to the Doll House, very slow going there. The rangers warned us that the Flint Trail had a lot of damage from runoff and we could tell. It didn't seem to be very bad in your scenes. Once you get to the top it's much easier going from there. Past Hans Flat you can make good time.
    From Hanksville through Hans Flat back to Hanksville is a long way offroad, be sure what your range is offroad before going, or bring extra gas. On terrain like some of that slow going through the national park I get half the mileage I get on paved roads.

    I loved the story telling, the camera angles, and the music. a very nice film. The one thing that I found distracting was the differences in lighting from one clip to the next. I don't know if it was different cameras used or different settings, the shadows had no detail in some shot and highlights a little blown out. This in no way should be taken as I didn't like it, I did like. I agree with Donald, you should have more subs as well as you tell a story (you did get me as a new sub). I did come over from Softroadingthewest and enjoy his channel very much and glad to have found your channel. I look forward to watching more of you and the adventures you go on.

      @BackroadExploration  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Rob! I appreciate the feedback. Consistency between clips is something I’m working to improve. Adventures like this are particularly hard because we had footage from over 5 cameras. • @BackroadExploration
      @BackroadExploration  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching. I have a different view than that. Most people I’ve talked to one of the hardest things about getting out is knowing where to go. So they end up going to the same few places that are well known around them. Leading to overcrowding like Moab. Especially with the influx of people to the sport. Showcasing beautiful remote places encourages people to step outside that comfort zone skip the crowded places and spread out. Most of the places I visit it’s uncommon to see even a few other rigs. It’s a really big world out there and if people spread out and enjoy it we can all take it in without feeling like we are all on top of each other.
