Ah bro, final fantasy IX… that music from the overworld hits so hard for me. I’ve mentioned this to, but I used to just sit and listen to this for HOURS. I love this video because music has such a major impact on these games. Nice, my dude!
Nice list John, and no surprise Persona would be on this list, that's the one JRPG series I think of when it comes to how iconic and catchy music is within video games!
Nice video as a sound track can make or break these games. I'd like to list a favorite based on play count, but that information is zeroed out for me even though I have listened to Persona 5, many Trails games, and Final Fantasy X to death... and more recently, the sound track to Witch on the Holy Night (visual novel and not a JRPG, but great sound track).
Crisis Core. Great pick on that one. I’ll add Ys9’s Aprils’ theme and my god Sunshine Coastline in Ys 8. (There are *many* more but… these two are 180s from each other so different moods for different days:)

I guess my favorites would be Into the Wilderness from Wild Arms, Gaur plain from Xenoblade Chronicle, Battle 2 Final Fantasy IV, Terra theme Final Fantasy VI, Intro from Lufia and Intro Phantasy Star IV The End of the Millennium to name a few lol

I don't listen to nearly as much game music as I used to, but off-hand I'd say that Final Fantasy 6, Phantasy Star 4, Bravely Default, SMT V, and Devil Survivor 1 have probably spent the most time on my playlist for the last few years. Plenty of Persona as well. I actually just started FF7 CC Reunion last week. Having a lot of fun so far, do you have any tips for the combat? I'm struggling coming straight off of 7 Remake.
I knew Harvestella was going to in this video. Don't ask me why. I just had a feeling. If I were to do a video like this, I'd have Wild Arms 5, SO2R, and Tales of the Abyss in my list.
Tales of Legendia soundtrack aged so well. Made by Go Shiina. The same guy from Harvestella. Listen the dungeon song "Short Circuit". It's just so good. I was mindblown when I heard it when I was an highschool kid ahah. 😁
@@chickenfillets it's fun because not many seem to rate VIII highly. It was my second FF game after VII and while that one made me fall in love with RPGs (before I only played click and point adventures basically), VIII looked so amazing and had such a cool world. I even liked the “worst aspect“ (draw magic) since I actually didn't like to use magic in games a lot.
@@chickenfillets I also resonated with Squall because I was also socially awkward and felt like people put too much pressure on me and expected too much 😂 but even nowadays I actually like him. I have a soft spot for those reluctant types.
I haven’t played many of these but knowing how popular they are I expect them to have good music. Recently I’ve had Chrono Trigger and Panzer Dragoon Saga music playing 😂
Confession here, I've not played much kingdom hearts, it's one of these that I keep saying I need to get round to but never get round to it. Although I know that it's awesome haha!

No Kingdom Hearts or Dragon Quest is a crime!!! Both have excellent music! And FF 8 is straight cheeks my guy! 😂 jk to each their own!

Dragon Quest has terrible music. Well had, Dragon Quest XII or possibly XIII depending on how much Koichi Sugiyama (rest in piss) did or didn't do.
I loved FF8 until someone stole my memory card...
