I have come back from India, it was my first visit for over 5 years. It is no longer the country I loved so much, and I have lived and visited in the past. India's laws are oppressive from the adhaar card, requiring ID and personal information when booking train tickets, even booking my ticket to Delhi on the coach for the airport. Yes requiring information when you are traveling within the same country, imagine giving such information if traveling from New York to Washington or Manchester to London. Do I have to say anymore. In one instance for a meal at a restaurant, which was not a restaurant I had booked a place for, they wanted my name and phone number, just to eat a meal. I know most places don't go that far, but that place did. The security check at the airport was the worst I have seen in any country. Please don't tell me about the security concerns and that is why they have to go this far, in being intrusive in people's lives, I know about security concerns and I am aware of that at as much as most people.
I stayed for two months, loved meeting friends and relatives, loved the food, I have a beautiful apartment in a nice area etc. But I can't put up with such oppressive laws, in India UK, US or anywhere else. In fact although laws in other countries are heading that way, nothing like India. I have told my family that they can come and go to India as they want, as they have good facilities to stay there but I will not be going on a regular basis or hardly at all for the reasons I have mentioned. I am very sorry for how I feel but my love affair with the country has ended.
The worst part of the thing is that most people Indians are blissfully ignorant about the situation, they are not even aware of the type of society it has become. In the US for example, there would be a civil war, if the government decided to pass laws as in India that are intrusive. But nothing in India, they accept everything as all is normal.
I won't even mention the political situation, the governing party, and some of the worrying things regarding the rights of all communities and protection of all people and property, regarding all people equal. Anyone who has followed what has happened there, doesn't require me to elaborate any further. Economically it might do very well one day but none of that means anything if autocratic governance is the future, invasive laws and no digital or physical protection of freedom and rights as individuals and as a society.

Percentages on a higher base may not be appropriate to be compared. This applies both to the GDP and inflation %. Absolute numbers are also to be compared.

I did some check about the figures and it is really disheartening to see that all numbers you mentioned are not correct and actual figures shows how the NDA government has been better that UPA run by an economist. Not to forget the 2 yrs of covid and economic crisis the nation has been through during NDA govt. Surprisingly and very convincingly you also mentioned wrong dollar value which is easily available for anyone to check

GDP is compared to by different formula. Use updated formula for INC govt and see that GDP growth is 11%

No. There is no change in gdp calculation, base year has not been updated in bjp era, if updated , real GDP will fall by around 0.5%.

Please also say speak about two & half years period of Covid 19, a natural calamity. Everything was halted & economy went into minus, but pandemic successfully confronted. Also say about continuous Indian diplomatic successes in the international arena of politics & prestige ,honours of India & for Indians increased in USA, Canada, West & in the Arab World Nations. Also speak about success in free ration scheme benefitting eighty crores population & good governance provided to public. Now there is no anti incumbency factor during the General Elections of 2024. Inflation rate has differed also becasue the base year was recently change. One needs a multi chain price index to get a more accurate picture.
