DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.1
there are lots of problems. unlike the previous versions this version is very very slow. In terms of giving suggestions, showing errors in any line if there is any, indicating fixed errors. It does not show it unless you run the app or compile it. very disappointing.

I don't know why after updating the android studio, my one dark theme and other indent, bracket theme cannot be shown. The color was not change, and some plugin like butterknife had error. So sad :(

This little trick is for those who tried to run an AVD in the embedded emulator but it never really showed up (AS is just showing an empty emulator tab), and when you tried to run it again AVD Manager said it's already running. If you're using Windows 10 you can kill the lost-but-still-running-AVD from Windows 10 Task Manager. Just select Process tab, double click on Android studio to expand the list, select qemu-bla-bla-bla.exe and press End task button. Now re-run the AVD from AVD Manager.
Wonderful update! Just a few bugs I noticed: (1) Android R in Emulator just not produce sound for Text-To-Speech functions, and (2) Anrdoid R emulator recording function is buggy and stops recording but keeps the shown visual clicking functions when navigating to maps or phone numbers in the emulator mode.

I tried to install on my macbook air, but the install screen freezes on initialization, without messages. I had a previous version wich worked normally. How to solve this problem? How to make a fresh install (what i have to delete before)?

I am currently trying to use Google's ARCore libraries, particularly sceneform, to render an imported 3D model. However, when I go to File > Settings > Plugins > Browse Repositories I am unable to find the "Google Sceneform Tools (Beta)" plugin I am currently using Android Studio 4.1

Plugin Error
Plugin "WIFI ADB ULTIMATE" is incompatible (supported only in IntelliJ IDEA).
my IDE was plagued with errors and glitches so I reinstalled Android Studio and deleted everything from config files to sdks and most of the errors are gone now except one of my plugins still don't work

I tried to change button color in Android studio 4.1.1 but is showing Resources linking fail and I can not change color up till now, what is Google up to, is that they have too much developers and don't need more developers, currently there is no solution to this problem
After upgrading from 3.5 to 4.1.3 it becomes almost impossible to code. AS itself works about 10 times slower than v3.5, from times to times logcat cease to show anything until AS is restarted, when i catch RuntimeException on my AVD it instantly restarts and logcat clears all logs from dead process so it becomes impossible to see stack trace with error. AVDs with 20% chance even not loading from AVD manager to desktop state (Endless "Waiting device to become online"). Sometimes Android OS on AVD even if nothing happening turns to "System UI is not responding". (MacOS 16Gb RAM)

Hi! I'm trying to download Android studio in order to start coding. I already downloaded both the JDK and ANDROID STUDIO but when I launch it it does not start. I already created the environment variables pointing to the jdk's directory. What could be the problem? How can I fix It? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a good day.
Now asynctask and loader is deprecated, is there any method to handle background like asynctask ? Viewmodel and livedata is for loader what about async task ?

Button background color not change in 4.1
The emulator process for AVD Pixel_4_XL_API_29 was killed. After Update the Android Studio 4.1. How to resolve this issue. The emulator is not working in other pixel devices also.
Please make sure the emulator you create is having playstore icon. I also run into same issue today.

4.1 version has major problems on mac catalina 10.15.7.
Previous version 4.02 had its flaw but not to this extent.
I did a clean install hoping it will fix the problems but it did not. This is the only major software I have on may 2017 macbook pro 13 inch
1. IT FREEZES CONSTANTLY, WITH THE RAINBOW LOADING ANIMATION
2. WHEN SCROLLING UP AND DOWN, IT ALSO FREEZES CONSTANTLY
3. WHEN SCROLLING, CODES JUST GO INVISIBLE ON THE SCREEN
4. CANNOT MINIMIZE CODE PROPERLY ANYMORE. MINIMIZE ALL ONLY WORK FOR SOME AND NOT ALL.
5. 300% CPU USE

Do not update! My problems on Mac OS:
- Indexing errors - index is not being resumed after failed build;
- Not deploying changes to the app by "Run" option sometimes (!!!)
- Screwed up font antialiasing

amateur google really gets you angry you build application one way next time it is a new way, worst thing with studio 4.1 is you cant import projects normally gradle and other ways fail to import incompatible or other things it wont build etc you have do it the hardway... gradle import is standard and only way in other than normal java files.... these people are really headache no wonder microsoft has best IDE... Eclipse is being torpedoed by google or someone else also by making old standard library impossible to get from eclipse framework download
Android should ditch this JetBrains based IDE. I remember using it years ago, start up on this thing dragged, I can only imagine now 😪... look into Chromium based IDE like VS code... there are so many unused features in the IDE... bloating is a sin
VS Code is a text editor not a real IDE
If AS or other Jetbrains IDE is too much for you, on Windows, you can use notepad. On linux you can use vim. Happy to help.
