I showed it to my dad, 73 year old retired bassist. We haven't laughed this much in years.
I love how the drummer stays in character while drumming too, with lots of dancing around and arm waving. New favourite drummer.

This is not an original comment, I saw it in other nyangostar video: "This is probably all we know and it's already awesome the way it is: "Please know that Nyango star is a yuru-chara mascot from Japan representing Aomori prefecture that's part of the Tohoku-region which was devastated by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March 11th, 2011. So, anytime Nyango star makes public appearances it is to promote the region and help it recover from the tragedy. It isn't drumming for its personal gain but for its beloved home."

nyangostar is a pretty big deal in Japan. He/She appears on TV shows does concerts etc. Whoever this is has managed to spin this into something pretty big.

i think nyango is a she. i think the one behind the mascot is no other than Nao Kawatika the drummer of Maximum the Hormone from japan. I got the Idea because nyango has a female voice when it talked and the drum kit she uses is literally the same with nyango star

Seeing that Nyangostar is shorter than the woman hosting (in other videos from that 'live' performance), I'm thinking that it might be one of Japan's incredible female drummers like Senri Kawaguchi, Tamu Murata, etc.

So basically it's the whole idea to take what ever song it is, and heavy metal the shit out of it in often quite unfitting and absurd ways! :D

Being shorter than the hostess (seen in other videos), I could easily see he/she being a 'she'- perhaps Senri Kawaguchi or Tamu Murata, who could easily do that drumming. There are some amazing female drummers in Japan!
