The turbojet is an airbreathing jet engine which is typically used in aircraft. It consists of a gas turbine with a propelling nozzle. The gas turbine has an air inlet which includes inlet guide vanes, a compressor, a combustion chamber, and a turbine (that drives the compressor).
What are turbojet engines used for?
Turbojets. Jet engines are used to propel commercial airliners and military aircraft. The simplest version of aircraft jet engines is a turbojet. Turbojets were used on the first jet powered aircraft, the German Messerschmidt Me 262 used in World War II.
What is a turbojet vs turbofan?
A turbojet sucks in air and compresses it, creating combustion of fuel. A turbofan has a large fan that sucks in a lot of air, but only part of it is used to fuel the engine's combustion, the rest exiting as exhaust. This makes it less noisy and more powerful.
What type of engine is a turbojet?
A turbojet engine is a gas turbine engine that works by compressing air with an inlet and a compressor (axial, centrifugal, or both), mixing fuel with the compressed air, burning the mixture in the combustor, and then passing the hot, high pressure air through a turbine and a nozzle.

Jet fuel (Jet A-1 type aviation fuel, also called JP-1A) is used globally in the turbine engines (jet engines, turboprops) in civil aviation. This is a carefully refined, light petroleum. The fuel type is kerosene.
What is the principle of turbojet?
Turbojet aircraft work on the principle of accelerating a relatively small mass of air to a high speed. As optimum efficiency is achieved when the speed of the accelerated air approximates that of the aircraft, turbojet engines do not reach peak efficiency until speeds approaching mach 2.
Which is faster turbojet or turbofan?
A turbofan accelerates a larger mass of air more slowly, compared to a turbojet which accelerates a smaller amount more quickly, which is a less efficient way to generate the same thrust (see the efficiency section below).
Which engine is used in Aeroplane?
Jet engines move the airplane forward with a great force that is produced by a tremendous thrust and causes the plane to fly very fast. All jet engines, which are also called gas turbines, work on the same principle. The engine sucks air in at the front with a fan.
Turbojets were used on Concorde and the longer-range versions of the TU-144 which were required to spend a long period travelling supersonically. Turbojets are still common in medium range cruise missiles, due to their high exhaust speed, small frontal area, and relative simplicity.
