This is the First Time I think Kevin didn't ask for Royalty but was totally surprised to be offered one and he took it with joyness in his heart
Not really the first. One deal that comes to mind is Vabroom. The entrepreneurs were the ones who brought it up and Kevin listened. But yeah, every time he hears "royalty" he becomes significantly more interested!😂

Mark is right, they are in the show for the commercial. Nothing wrong with that, but the fact they give up cash over shares shows they don't need the extra cash.

@@greenracer1238 Yes but that's nothing compared to what they benefit. He gets a safe investment, they get a shark to back their marketing so it's not for nothing. They don't need the money. They just want his name which is honestly more useful than $270,000 since they already have accrued a lot of money to begin with. Mark knew that and that's why he bailed ( not that he doesn't like them, he would rather have a bigger cut of the pie than what they would offer)

The deal did close and Kevin recently gave a talk on how successful her business was and how she was smart enough to adapt her business model during covid which skyrocketed their sales (42 million per year run rate and cash flow positive!!)

Really smart deal by her, not giving alot of the company and once the money is paid the royalthy is gone. she managed to get a deal at 3% while everyone else wanted much more.

Mark was wrong on this one. Nothing they said or did was indicative of them just being there for promotion. They sold over 200,000 in their first month and were open to negotiation
You know that in real life they speak for 2 hours, and this is edited in 10min time frame. I think the suspicion of Mark was right, they just went only 1 percent up, while the other were negotiating up to 6 percent difference.

I think Lori was overlooking the fact that it isn't detergent you don't need to use an entire tablet at a time, so it would be pointless to sell something that lasts weeks in large quantities..
I think she did understand that, but she understood more how Americans just like to buy stuff in big bags whether they need it or not unlike Europeans making dainty purchases.

I don't see a need to buy their expensive plastic bottles, though, especially since there are complaints that they fall apart and stop working after a while. Why not just keep an empty Windex bottle, fill that up with water, and throw in a tab?
@@desd111 that’s exactly what I would do, TBH. I like the idea of everytime I run out, I won’t have to buy a whole new bottle. I would just pop a tab in an old plastic bottle. I would only ever have to buy from them, any cleaning solution I need. Normally companies that sell cleaning products don’t sell only refills. And that would cause more waste. They could get ahead of the game and knock-out some competition.
I think you can buy in larger packages now. At least you can get a bundle of the soap tablets and they last forever because it takes a decent amount of time to go through a bottle of soap

Lori's first comment about 1 tablet per thing is the first thing I thought of. I need to see at least 5 tablets down the side. Even if it is an additional price. When I see that, I see convenience, I see "I don't have to come back to buy more tablets, or another bottle because I can't find the spare tablets in the store", etc. You need to look after the people you are selling to. And on that note, I am out.
But seriously, yeah. Package them with more tablets. And make the tablets easy to find in store, or online, so people aren't just buying another bottle. The most important thing here is the tablet. Not the bottle. Because any bottle is a bottle. It's the only way to sway customer choice. They're entering a billion-dollar market. How are they going to stand out if they can't stand out? It's simple. More tablets with the bottle, and easy-to-find tablet packets of at least 10. Ok now I am out.
This was aired about 4 years ago. Since then they actually don’t sell single tablets anymore! Glass cleaner has a minimum of a 2 pack (because again you aren’t going through windex that quickly) and hand soap is at a minimum of 5 tablets! I own several and it’s incredible that I have 2 years of hand soap that can fit in a sandwich size plastic bag :)

I was a customer of blueland years ago. Their bottles are seamed plastic and fall apart at the seams after a few months. You have to buy new bottles or go through the hassle of saving the broken bottle, contacting support, having them ship you a new bottle, all while you just want to spray down a couple counters.
Fix your bottles blueland!
Par for the course for a startup. I'm sure they'll find better suppliers soon.

This episode proves how delayed these Shark Tank releases are. I've seen Kevin on a Blue Land commercial and CZcams ads for more than 2 years. Yet, this was aired on April 6th, 2023.
this episode was only put on youtube on april 6th 2023. it aired september 29th 2019 on television.
UPDATE: They have done $170 million sales since they appeared in Shark Tank. Kevin would have 10x his investment for sure.

That was a ridiculously expensive royalty that they offered. on 200k sales / $2 a unit thats 100k units sold at 0.50 a unit that's $50k just based on the first month's sale. The entire investment becomes risk free within half a year if the run rate holds true. Absolutely excellent deal by kevin.

8:09 Why didn’t they consider a royalty deal with lower equity to recoup their money? There is very little risk when you get paid for every unit sold and if the company continues to take off you get 3% of it. It’s essentially all upside.

sounds like a great idea, but it has been out for 4 years now, I think if it were that great you would see more people using it. I checked in the online product reviews, it got ok reviews (but not 5 stars).
