    Ok but all AMD has to do is just drop prices after super series is announced. There is still a gap in time before review embargos lift and if AMD drops prices in that gap, the reviews will have to deal with the new prices.

    Apparently, here in Germany, the most intersting Card, which is the 4070 ti super, will cost around 1000€.
    Meanwhile, the 7800xt is at 550€.
    So, the price increase for a better Ray Tracing in Germany is double the price.
    100% price increase for better Ray Tracing.
    If you support that, it's your fault that those prices will stay this way forever.

      @@MachistmoCope. Nvidia is much more efficient than AMD this generation, and you don’t have to buy a card with a stupidly massive cooler. The Ventus 2x 4070 and 4070ti are smaller than AMD reference coolers for the 7800xt and 7900xt respectively. The 7900xtx has identically sized coolers as the 4080. AMD has no single fan cards this generation shorter than 200mm where Nvidia AIBs has 4060 and 4060ti models that fit in sub 5L cases. I don't see a problem at all, you can do it yourself easily. I've always done this on the last 4 Nvidia GPUs and it's always the same regardless of the memory type (GDDR5 GTX 1070 +500, GDDR5X 1080ti +500, GDDR6 RTX 2060S +700 (Micron), GDDR6 RTX 2080ti +1000 (Samsung), there's plenty of space left for oveclock.
      It's the same with this generation, any RTX 4080 clocks memory without problems in 3 mouse clicks, the vast majority of them can clock memory for +1500mhz without problems, and I have also seen +2000. Mine is overclocked for +1500mhz from the stock 22.4Gbps to 25.4Gbps for a year now, I have no problems like with any of those before.
      As far as I remember, GTX 1060 came with 8Gbps, later versions were already overclocked out of the box by +500 to 9Gbps, same as GTX 1080ti 10Gbps later by +500 to 11Gbps. Nothing new for Nvidia, it has already become standard practice.

    Your guess is not good. If you positionned with the price and the performance you are talking about, its put these new refresh gpu's in a very bad spot in terms of fps/$. We already know that the 4070 Super gonna be at least 15% better and more arround 18%, so close to the 4070 ti (min 4 to 6%). Same for the 4070 ti, you cant place "just above the 7900XT" when the core increase + the memory bandwitch + memory size suggest at least a 15% increase in performance. Nvidia wants to kill the 7900XT not just to go above even more so when the price of the 7900XT is arround 750$, AMD could easily drop the price of this card and continue selling like pancakes. The 4070 Ti Super needs to be at least 6 to 8% better than the 7900XT to justify a +100 to 150$ price increase. Less than a 5% increase over the 7900XT would be a bad move.

    From what I've heard, Navi 4C (used for 41 and 42) ran into technical issues so they had to cancel it. If what I'm hearing is correct, AMD was overcomplicating the design and it backfired. They were basically going to chiplets of chiplets. Their lower tier RDNA 4 (43 and 44) is monolithic. So they have to cancel high end Navi 4 and regroup for Navi 5. Assuming all these rumors are true, of course. There is also that new patent for GPU technology filed by AMD. So in short, they're trying, but it looks like maybe they just tried too hard.

    On Ada and RDNA lll full run volume to date, AMD RDNA lll is sitting at 13% in WW channel. In the first 57 weeks of RDNA lll supply in relation to RDNA ll at 57th week, RDNA ll (2) WW supply is 3.17x more in the first 57 weeks. RDNA lll distribution is heavy 7900XT_ and 7600 with 78/77_ at 7% there is none and it's because AIBS don't make money on RDNA lll midshelf and the production chain and channel are aware Ada Refresh will collapse RDNA_ and GA mid shelf pricing current and back one generation and on down the generations stack. I'm expecting around 12 M Ada Super and RDNA lll unless AMD fabricated more in q4 is all in the production chain. Radeon division when broke behind the books q2 into q3 and the business needs to be reconfigured. mb

      Thanks Mike! Since AIBs don't make money at mid-level, that explains why I don't see any RX 7800 XT for $499. They are drifting to the $550 level. If Radeon division went broke, then it needs new management. I would like to see them spun off however, I'm not sure they could survive on their own. Plus, AMD needs them for consoles and AI.
      Not sure if you have the data, but it would be an interesting comparison of first 57 weeks of Ampere vs first 57 weeks of ADA to understand the ratio and how that compares to RNDA2/RDNA3 ratio above. GPU mining had a big influence on first 57 weeks of Ampere and RDNA2, so the ratio comparison of Ampere/Ada to RDNA2/RDNA3 would be most insightful.

  • @DmonicAlex
    @DmonicAlex Před 5 měsíci +1

    Here is the thing, if NVidia really wanted to deliver the death blow to AMD, they would make the 4080 with at least 20 GB of vram. Sure the super will be faster, but the 7900 xtx has 24 GB of vram! This means you will be future proofed for quite a while. Nvidia doesn’t want cards that are future proofed though. They want them to be obsolete in about 3-4 years so you buy another one. If you like Nvidia as company and have no problem shoveling them money, then that is fine. But if you want longevity and performance, AMD is the way to go.

    Jensen Huang at CES 2024: "My Pascal and Turing friends, I bring you the RTX 4070 Ultra (Ti Super) for $699 (reference MSRP). You can now upgrade to beat the RTX 3090 for half the price." Now, that GTX 1080 Ti-esque price point would devastate AMD's entire RDNA III lineup without the $1000 RTX 4080 Super. Unlikely, but if NVIDIA has a lot of defective AD103 dies in warehouses, it's possible.
    NVIDIA effectively finishes off AMD Radeon for this generation, but they will give AMD enough room to survive for next generation. No amount of price cuts from AMD will fix this because most GPU buyers already upgraded at this point. NVIDIA will have full control of the gaming GPU market as a hedge against new AI GPUs from AMD and others. We can only wait for AMD's RDNA IV and Intel's Battle Mage to see if they can do something against NVIDIA's next-gen Blackwell GPUs.
