Thanks again to everyone who's subscribed so far! If this one is worthy enough for 100 likes I'll randomly choose a comment below to send out a metallic print of the image from the video.
Haha! Just as I was about to fire off a question about grass.. LOL I'll wait for that video!! And maybe the extreme motion blur on the turf!
Absolutely love your work!
Your images from the Gamecocks have inspired my sports portraits.

I am an apprentice photographer from Germany and have been playing with the idea of working in the commercial sport area after I graduated next year. Since I found you channel a couple of weeks ago and saw the person behind the work and got to see the workflow and behind the scenes I am very certain that I will position myself as a commercial photographer specialized on sports and fitness. Thank-you for the inspiration and I would love to see you critique some viewers work.
That's awesome, Felix! One recommendation I would have would be to learn the video end of things as well as the photo.
@@QuantzPhoto Thank-you that is some really good advice!
Nice work, James!
Thanks, Paul!

James Quantz Jr will do! Thanks.
Stumbled across you through Instagram, so glad a did :~) Loving what your doing with sharing your knowledge honestly. Your an amazing photographer 😊
Thanks so much - go spread the word! Haha
Hi James your attention to detail and use of Photoshop tools to arrive at the result is amazing. Can you give the learning resource for your Photoshop skills please?
Hey Kevin, I wish I could point to one source but it is really all over and I've been at it for 20+ years.
Great content!
Thanks, Tony!
Awesome work. Really inspiring and motivating. Need to try some of your techniques. How do you not get over spill from the lights? Looks like they are definitely pointing right at the camera.
Sometimes I don't!
James thank you again for another great video! As a Carolina alum from the late 90s now living in Indiana I have been following your work for the last several years and have used your Gamecock posters as inspiration for my own work (I even got an old high jump crash mat in studio that I git at a school auction to do the jumping/diving shots!). Would love to see how you create more if the extra elements like grass/dirt as well as a walk thru on some of your previous posters you did. Hope to have opportunity to meet and see a shoot someday! Thank you for your time to explain your craft. @indysportgroup
Thanks, Shawn! I really appreciate the feedback!
Another great video, keep up the great work! Also quick question, for your high pass layers have you ever thought about using smart object when you lay them on?
Sure, smart objects are a great way to go as well!
Thank you! Do you have a video of a similar jump/action shot with light placement and camera speed/settings? I’m a still portrait photographer and struggle with high speed photography.
I hope to be able to breakdown a shoot like this "on set" in person sometime in the future when we can do it safely. For this image though I was probably at 1/250 of a second and relying on the short flash duration from my strobes to help freeze the action. If you're using natural light around 1/1600 is a good place to start. I hope this helps!
where can i find the padding that the athlete was jumping on too?
Great work as usual JQP! Keep it up. (Former Columbia resident). @photostewart
Thank you, David! Will do!
Love your photos... do you sell prints?
Thanks, Tyler! I haven't in the past but with what's been going on I might have to! Drop you IG or Twitter so I can find you if we reach 100 likes and I'm giving one of these away.

Go gamecocks! Would love to see behind the scenes of a Carolina game or shoot! @_alex_wilson for both Instagram and Twitter.
Awesome, thanks, Alex!
Hi James, Who won the print?
Need two more "likes" to get to 100! It's only taken 3 months but we're getting close, haha
Nice work! @mykcrawford
Inspiring work! @contentchemistryvideos
Thank you!
Nice! I was going to ask if you personally photo the back ground or got the stadium photos from another photog. cool to see you key in on things like the ribbon banner too! keep it up!

Nice breakdown. I've always been a fan of the high pass filter when I create sports posters. And, yes you should do a video on creating the details like the grass or smoke.

So glad to hear, Em! Thanks for sharing!
Great work again. Can you go over your technique for player extraction (cup outs) and also go over how large your file is to get that sort of finished product? Insta: @john_white_media
Many thanks
Thanks, John, let me see what I can do!
Love your work! IG: @realnamebuster
Thanks, John, really appreciate it!
