In computer science, we used to refer to "pose estimation" as "articulated object tracking," where "pose estimation" referred to the problem of determining the camera pose and the object pose in 3D space. However, the term has become ubiquitous and is now commonly used to mean the posture of a human being in an image or video.

can I quickly ask, if you are conducting gait analysis using continous kinematic data, and your subjects do a nubmer of gait cycles in the lab, how do you choose which specific gait cycle of each subject you would use for your analysis? Thanks

I'd say that if you're collecting multiple trials, try to use them all. So either average the normalized time series, or include all trials within the statistical analysis. Unless you have a specific reason for choosing one based on a particular characteristic. But that's just my quick answer and others may disagree.

hi Stuart , I hope you are doing well, for next few months I want to focus on learning new language for Biomechanics, I am curious as to which should I start with python or matlab, I have done some independent research and got to know that matlab has its own biomechanical tool for modelling where as python has open SIM .
    your advice would be helpful
    thanks
