Considering this is the best game series I've ever played, and certainly the most cinematic, I decided to make them into movies. I decided that I would include every cinematic, and link them by the minimum gameplay needed to connect the cinematics without creating any plot holes. Obviously to do this I had to take out certain sections of gameplay, but doing so does not have any effect on story. As I was trying to make these as close to a real movie experience as I could, there were a few guidelines I decided to follow:
1. I would try to remove as many on screen references to this being a game as possible, such as chapter titles and button or new ammo prompts. Some of these would either be impossible or would too much negatively impact the quality of the film, such as the near constant ammo OSD, or the occasional "select" prompt for drake's journal during puzzles.
2. I would try to include as much of the puzzles, in game cinematics and cinematic gameplay elements as I could. Some areas still needed to be cut to keep the movie flowing properly or, in the case of Uncharted 2 and 3, to keep the run length shorter than it would have been otherwise.
3. I tried to keep as much in game dialogue as I could, as I believe those really help develop the characters. However, as I said, I also had to keep an eye on how much gameplay I was using to make sure it didn't make things too boring or make the movie too long.
In the end, my goal was to make a movie that would be watchable whether the viewer was a fan of Uncharted or not, and whether the viewer was a video game player or not. My initial reason was to find a way to show the story of these games to people in my family who don't play video games. I think I succeeded.
However, remember that these movies WERE created from video games that are much longer when played through, so they will be quite long to watch. Here are the run lengths for all three:
Uncharted 1: 113 minutes
Uncharted 2: 177 minutes
Uncharted 3: 195 minutes

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves to this day June 11, 2014 is my favorite game of all time. The story just sucked me in right from the get go. Amazing voice acting/mo cap and gameplay were outstanding. Uncharted 2 is not only the best game in the series but the best game from the 360/PS3 era.

This is simply the best game I've ever played, even though I already own the game I still enjoy watching it on youtube.
My favorite part about this game is when you go to Tibet and you can press square near the chickens to say hi to them XD you'll look crazy in front of everyone and it's hilarious

I hate to admit that I am in my 40's and i love playing games. It lets me bond with my kids and makes keeps my hand and eye coordination polished. When I played games, all you had was objectives, now there are story lines in a game. This is one of the best ones, all 3 actually to watch and play. The other is another Sony exlcusive in God of War...

i have never played this game but based on its story, characters and gameplay looks one of the best games i've ever seen. its so cinematic and it appears more like a movie than a game. i really love nate drake's personality by being likeable jerk, snarky, sarcastic, intelligent and adroit in hostile environment just as well when is neck deep in some troubling situations.
i love his relationship with elena who is also very strong, sexy and independent female character who can take care of herself. i like the fact they were married but i dislike that they cant stay together 4ever but always be apart, what pisses me even more that she always shows up in the middle of the game not at he beginning.
chloe is very seductive, aggressive and very hot contrast to elena. at the beginning of uncharted 2 i didnt know what to make of her because she was on that thin line between good and bad, but she turned out ok. i prefer elena over her but she brings some interesting dynamic in all of this and its nice to see her having nate's back. sully is very hilarious and awesome, drake's father figure and without him nate wouldnt be what he is today.
Uncharted 2 is my favorite one!! The story and dialog were just epic! I never skipped one cutscene when playing this game
Uncharted 2 is straight up my favourite video game. It's got solid gameplay mechanics, and the story was just so much fun too. The ending cinematic, with the whole "how scared were you" conversation is my favourite cinematic from any video game ever.
I actually just recently bought an HD capture device. Before I wasn't capable of capturing in HD, but now I am. However, the first movie I make with it will likely be the Last of Us, but I may eventually remake the Uncharted movies in HD.
Lighting is extremely important, as it can make graphics that are good look great. It's also a complicated art to get just right, and I believe ND has mastered it in Uncharted 3. The graphical level looks identical to me. Same detail in textures, polygons, etc, just a different art style for the character models. The online has slightly less detail for improved performance, but not the single player.
I pretty much agree. I think UC1/2 character models are a bit more caricature-ish, meaning they exaggerate their unique features a bit, whereas UC3 models are a bit more realistic. For the most part, I like the changes in UC3, except for Elena. If they fixed her eyes it'd probably be fine though.
That was a personal comment on Drake and Chloe's relationship. She was beginning to feel a bit betrayed. She and Drake were supposed to be together at this point, but he couldn't decide to leave his ex behind. She was feeling betrayed and jealous that Drake wasn't choosing her side. It felt like he was choosing Elena over her. Like if they went to a dance together, and then Drake suddenly saw his ex, Elena, at the dance, and decided to dance with her instead of Chloe, who he came with.
Truly one of the greatest games of the PS3/Xbox Generation. As good as The Last of Us which is another high one. Well Done Naughty Dog. I remember playing this the week it came out, the first game I played after buying my HDTV. What a game :)
i just love the random conversations of Nate and Chloe along the way. I enjoyed every minute of the movie.

It's sad so many people will miss out on this fantastic story, because they don't play video games. Hands down one of my favorite stories I've ever heard.

Drake has legendary climbing skills. I find it funny how these ancient puzzles are designed with said skills in mind.

This is the 1st in the Uncharted series that I'd played. My siblings and I were new to the PS3 and UN2 was a gift. We weren't expecting anything from it really since we'd never heard of it, but then the three of us sat down to play it (yeah, we do that), the game began, the music intrigued us, and then it opened up on that train scene and we were hooked. We could barely put the controller down until we were done! Thanks for posting these so I can relive this masterpiece even w/out my PS3. ^_^
My favorite moment in the whole game is at the very end before credits roll...the banter between Elena and Nathan is funny and adorable at the same time.

God theres so many scenes in this game that can be made into movie shots so easily
I actually tend to think of it as " Bullets only graze drake and as the screen gets grayer and grayer it's actually how close he is to being hit with a bullet" Makes it easier to suspend disbelief
If you think about it, it is partly nate's fault. If it weren't for nate, Lazarevic would still have been stuck in the jungle in Borneo. Maybe he would never have found the clues that nate did.
Amazing. 9.5/10 This is an amazing rendition of the Uncharted series turned into movies. However, I only discounted 0.5 due to the hasty gameplay. The fact that Drake knew exactly what to do at an instant seemed pretty weird. It's as if he knows his entire surroundings and knows like "Oh! That rope would definitely lead to that place!" or "Shooting that box would lead a rope down to me!" A little wait wouldn't hurt. But besides that, PURE AWESOMENESS.
Thankfully they were standing behind some apparently invincible pillars.

out of never playing Uncharted at all and watching part 1 and just now part 2. i now see why Uncharted is one of the best PS3 games. and this is coming from a 360/PC player but i wish i had a PS3 because i hate getting the BBE for MGS4.
PS4 isn't backwards compatible with PS3 games, but in 2014 there will be a streaming service that will let you play PS3 games on the PS4 over the internet. No word on what games will be available for that, though.

Went through this whole journey to find a key just to open and find a village in a valley, when they could'v flown over the mountain and just look down....lol, legends!!!

an HD PVR 2 gaming edition, which is probably the device I'd want, costs about $150. Due to my new graphics card (which is huge) I don't really have the space for an internal card, so I'd have to use an external device instead.

Among Thieves was probably my personal favorite! The first & second were good but this one was fun and great to play. Hopefully there will be a 4th. This series is full of surprises and thats what i like about games.

Drake is kinda like Indiana jones in the sense that he's seen the craziest shit on Earth but every time he's confronted with a new myth or legend he is skeptical haha

Wow, same here. I did get a couple tears shed when I saw it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that experienced the scene with such emotion in that way. :) The scene was brilliant. It showed how much they loved each other, their chemistry, humorous teasing banter...it was such a lovely way for the game to wind up like this in the end. :)

This has a lot more gameplay than the first one. That's not a complaint, it's just interesting to see how much more storytelling is integrated into the gameplay.
Its the way the story is told that matters the most.
I suggest you buy all three. They're great. 2 and 3 are the best. If you had to get only one I'd suggest 2, but I recommend all three games.

Subtitles are an extremely time consuming task. I'm not going to leave the in-game subtitles on because I prefer to watch without subtitles, so I would have to manually type them out for each movie, and that is a huge load of work.
I'll be getting Tomb Raider on Tuesday for PS3. As I don't yet have an HD capture device, I'll probably have to use the PC version for a Tomb Raider movie. However, I'll be doing the Assassin's Creed movies now that I'm done with my other project. After that I have many options: The Batman Arkham games, Tomb Raider, the Last of Us, and whatever cool games may come out on PS4.

I have Xbox in my room. Never had PS3. Uncharted series almost got me to buy PS3. But I couldn't. At least this video make me feel better for not having them.

You don't seem to understand self defense. Drake goes searching for a treasure. Other people are after it as well. They try to kill drake, so he defends himself. That's not a "genocidal killing spree".

I'm looking forward to making it. Though I'm going to play the game for myself before I start making a movie out of it, so my movie won't be released right after the game's launch, but it will be coming.
I would love to do those. The next movie I'm releasing will actually be a live action movie me and my brothers filmed a couple years ago, but after that I will continue with my Assassin's Creed series. After that I have a few options: The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, or the Arkham series.

Uncharted is my favourite video game series after Assassin's Creed. I really like that they made it funny but also serious. The story and the characters are really awesome. Nathan Drake is the best video game character after Ezio (that's my opinion at least).
I love these "movies". I even got my wife into them since she keeps asking me whats happening in my games. You should do Dead Space and Mass Effect also. Any game with a great story behind it. Not as good as Uncharted but still up there.

Seriously great work on this Andy. I loved watching this even though I've never played an Uncharted game. I fell in love with the characters, especially Drake. The soundtrack is awesome by the way. I may pick this up in the future and add it to my collection.
yeah, i totally understand why it wasn't a higher res, i just know how beautiful this game is, and the way he cut this together was so good that i'd love to see it in it's full 720p-ness so that i could download it and save it. but, nonetheless i still watched all three of these happily and was very satisfied. :)

This is one of those great games I'd hate to play for the arcade factor, The fact that you've made this into a story/film is great, as it allows other people to experience it.
I think the big studios should think about making this into a REAL feature film..

I almost bought a PlayStation just to play these particular games. I'm glad someone had the sense to make them into movies. If ya get bored could ya make some of the Indiana Jones games into movies? Like I said, for me personally, subtitles can distract from the experience, so I always disable them. I realize some people like (or need) them, but the main reason I made these movies was for myself. Didn't expect as many views as I've gotten. Just haven't had the time to do the subtitles myself.
