    Hello friends,
    and welcome to another by request song tutorial! In today's session I'll be breaking down how to play the rhythm guitar parts to Hank Williams' 1952 classic "Your Cheatin' Heart." We'll begin learning my personal way of performing the intro section, before applying an essential country strumming pattern to the verse and chorus sections. Let's get started!

    Just ran across this lesson and joined. I'm old school (72 years Old). This was one of the first songs I learned back in the 50's, unfortunately, I just learned the basic chords. This has inspired me to learn the steel intro lic and lead. Last night when viewing, I tried the hybrid picking, love it as soon as I master it. Lol. I also really like the harmony in the chorus. Now, I just have to dust off my pedal and give it a try. Thanks.

    A question I've had for a long time: when do song writers know when to change the chord while strumming the accompaniment of a melody? Put another way, why do melodies require the changing of chords and when? Thank you.

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  Před 6 lety

      Great question. Chord changes occur after a specific number of beats, usually 4. The chord you transition to is dictated by the melody modulating to a note that exist inside of a different chord. So let’s say on beat 5, my melody landed on a C note, that would tell me as a rhythm player to transition to a chord that includes the C note, perhaps Cmaj, Am, or D7 depending on the key I’m in and the feeling I’m trying to convey.

    This was way too overproduced for me to learn. Please when you’re teaching do it bare bones we don’t need extra production quality.
