Kind of sad to see the original/old parts vanish, but the reality is that with the knowledge to properly tend to them gone it is inevitable :/ Nice move to save some material. Hope the new roof will change things.
As a kid I thought it was normal to carry out all the redecorating and sweep the chimney in the week before Christmas, turkey and Dulux. Good luck for Christmas.

I these cases where the roof is tiles, and overall slow moving, might be good to pay a little extra and have the scaffolding so it will cover the roof, so no need to worry about rain and stuff.
Ok now is the time to install a few sky lights and to incorporate solar heating using convection currents and reversing ceiling fans. And maybe some sky lights that can open and provide access to the roof for routine maintenance. In the States we would nail down 4 feet by eight feet plywood sheets on the entire roof then install the roofing materials.
I imagine you could use those slates to pave your terrace if you were to bed them in a mix of sand and concrete. Are you familiar with that method of setting natural stone? Seeing the party walls and the end walls open, I'm absolutely certain you were receiving a lot of damp penetrating the masonry walls from the roof. I don't know what you intend to use, but I suspect it will be monolithic in some way, hopefully with a gable end overhang. Are you running your dehumidifier in Eco mode for the entire time that your electricity is available at the discounted rate? Are you using the pump feature to empty your condensate to a drain? I hope so. One word about killing mold and mildew; It is the alkaline cleaning products that prevent regrowth, not acid. Straight baking powder, washing soda or baking soda in hot water with a good terry rag is your best friend. Just keep knocking it down. You will reduce and slow the regrowth down as the surface becomes more alkaline over time. I hope you are feeling better about the progress you are making.
@@TheRenovationProject If they are going to have to replace wood, I hope they can take the sag out of the ridge while they are at it. This is the perfect time to add more skylights and exhaust vents for bathrooms and kitchen through the roof. You don't have to make the hookups right away, just get stubs poked through the roof and sealed up. Best of luck my friend. It is a bear of a project. But you are making progress. Optimize that dehumidifier 😊 A simple plug in wall timer can turn it off before high rates begin and on after low rates begin. If you set the humidistat 5 percent lower than the space reading it will start to cycle. Then you can start to move down 5 percent at time. I got my basement level down to 40 percent using this technique. It is a process that takes time. The key is automation for low rates and pumping or draining the condensate. 👍
Bonjour de correze vos ardoises en réalité ce sont des lauzes c'est très beau et très lourd on n en trouve plus beaucoup maintenant ...belles récupérations en attendant bonne fêtes et bon courage merci
New to the channel. Not sure i understand the project and goals. Is this a terrace house? North England? The stone walls seem sound. Not seeing any value in the wood structure when you're in this deep. Rip it all out and replace with new square and true timber. Really any sense in keeping the old slates? They're really rough and random. Hard to match up with replacements. All the best with the project. Ill be interested to watch the progress.

Will solar panels be something you'll consider? I'm just thinking if you have to keep running the dehumidifier in the future too. Then would the solar installation pay itself back after a while?
The light was amazing with the slate off, I am praying for skylights? 😅

I can't believe how labour intensive it is in the removal of the slate
The roof guys really did an efficient job. Next step: new roof! 🙂
It’s going to be beautiful just plod on
❤ Happy for your new roof! Thank you
Great progress on the Roof. The size of some of that slate was pretty impressive.

The attic camera was a good idea. It is a novel view.

I really hope that you can get a big step forward with a new roof.

Probs not enough slate for paving. Yes, the roof was letting in a lot of damp maybe need to replace more of the wood than we hoped.

Great progress, well done.
Interesting, if the tarps help regulate the humidety.
The tarps (and wind) don't help regulate sleep.
A new roof, excellent! Lovely video :) Good luck with the rest of the work on it.
Thank you.
С скорым Рождеством вас! Удачи в поодолжении ремонта

That is great to see. What are you putting up to replace it? New slate? Metal? Tile?
Tile, as it is cost efficient. Would have liked another slate roof but it is way out of our budget!

I wonder can u use the slate to make cobbled effect pathways? Not sure u hv enough to do the patio area??
We don't have so many, but will find a beautiful use for them somewhere, someday.
.... Make a lovely roof for a privvy, down the garden.....!!
