  • A phenomenon which used to take place only in November and December, tidal flooding now occurs through the year, with salt water entering houses in coastal areas. Climate change among other factors has led to the flooding, affecting most of all the lives of women in these parts.

    We are currently in the midst of the sixth mass extinction of species. Owing to deforestation where lands are being cleared to locate livestock and to grow plants to feed them wild animals are losing their habitats and dying out. Every day many species lose their lives because of the actions of one.

      Do you know what caused the last mass extinction?
      What is the logic behind your argument that killing animals would cause mass extinction ?

    • @shoban1520
      @shoban1520 Před 2 měsíci

      The last mass extinction event, also known as the *End Cretaceous* or *K-Pg (Cretaceous-Paleogene) extinction*, occurred around *65 million years ago* ¹. The causes of this event are still debated among scientists, but the most widely accepted theory is that a combination of factors led to the extinction of approximately *76% of all species on Earth*, including the non-avian dinosaurs. Some of the possible causes include:
      - *Asteroid impact*: A massive asteroid impact in what is now the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, known as the Chicxulub asteroid impact, which triggered a global cataclysm and rapid cooling of the climate.
      - *Volcanic activity*: Around the same time, there were a series of massive volcanic eruptions in India, known as the Deccan Traps, which released large amounts of toxic gases into the atmosphere and caused a prolonged period of volcanic winter.
      - *Climate change*: The Earth was already experiencing a natural cooling trend at the end of the Cretaceous period, which may have weakened many species and made them more vulnerable to extinction.
      - *Sea-level changes*: Changes in sea levels may have affected marine species and coastal ecosystems.
      These factors, combined with other possible contributing factors, led to the most recent mass extinction event in Earth's history.

      Let me explain what extinction means. It appears you haven't got the meaning.

    • @shoban1520
      @shoban1520 Před 2 měsíci

      *Extinction* is a term used to describe the process where a species or group of species dies out and disappears forever ¹. Here are some key points to understand about extinction:
      - *Termination of a taxon*: Extinction refers to the termination of a taxon, which is a group of organisms that are classified together based on their shared characteristics.
      - *Death of the last member*: A species is considered extinct when the last member of that species dies.
      - *Functional extinction*: A species may also be considered functionally extinct if it loses the capacity to reproduce and recover, even if some individuals still exist.
      - *Local extinction*: Extinction can also refer to the loss of a species in a specific geographic area, even if the species still exists elsewhere.
      - *Global extinction*: Global extinction refers to the loss of a species worldwide.
      - *Mass extinction*: Mass extinction refers to the loss of many species in a short period, often due to large-scale environmental changes or catastrophic events.
      - *Causes of extinction*: Extinction can occur due to various factors, including habitat destruction

    • @shoban1520
      @shoban1520 Před 2 měsíci

      *Species Extinction Rate:*
      - *Up to 100 species per day*: According to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, studies estimate that between 15,000 to 40,000 species become extinct every year ¹.
      - *1 every 5 minutes*: The World Counts states that we don't know the exact number, but it could be up to 100,000 species per year, which translates to about 1 species every 5 minutes ².
      - *Thousands of species per year*: The Center for Biological Diversity states that thousands of species are at risk of disappearing forever in the coming decades ³.
      *Note:* The exact number of species that go extinct daily is difficult to quantify, but the rates mentioned above give an idea of the severity of the issue.

    Nearly every Mallu film will have a mention of beef and poratta and liqour. Kerala makes beautiful movies but not a single one has addressed compassion towards animals or even mentioned climate change. These vital issues don't matter.

    Kerala is one of the biggest consumers of meat in India. One state where even the Hindus consume the flesh of the animal they supposedly worship as their mother. Kerala is also one of the states which has the highest rates of colon cancer. The WHO has categorised red meat as a carcinogen. Processed red meat has been categorised as a Type 1 carcinogen.

    You need large tracts of land to grow food to feed these billions of animals. Also huge amounts of water to grow these many plants. You also need water to feed these animals to quench their thirst. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that 80 billion land animals will eat and drink more than 8 billion humans.

    You may believe you need to put your taste buds before the lives of animals. But think of your children and grandchildren. They need a planet to live on - a sustainable one. I hope that at least for their sake you will make kinder choices. Sadly there is no medicine to cure selfishness, greed, apathy, ignorance, denial, stupidity and insanity.

      Did you evolve from dogs or cats or fro the apes? We share 99% of our DNA with them. And as you know the apes are herbivores, not omnivores. Humans are opportunistic omnivores. We eat animals because we can not because we should.

      The US animal agriculture industry alone is worth more than 858 billion.

    • @shoban1520
      @shoban1520 Před 2 měsíci

      The animal agriculture industry in India is a significant sector, and its worth can be understood through various aspects:
      *Economic Contribution:*
      - Animal husbandry and dairy farming contribute around 4.5% to India's GDP ¹.
      - The livestock sector alone contributes around 2.5% to the country's GDP ¹.
      *Employment:*
      - More than 50% of the Indian workforce is employed in agriculture and allied sectors like animal husbandry and dairy farming ¹.
      *Production:*
      - India is one of the world's largest producers of livestock and poultry meat, with a growth rate that is among the fastest in the world ¹.
      - India is the largest producer of milk and has one of the largest and fastest-growing poultry industries worldwide ¹.
      *Exports:*
      - India exported $39 billion worth of agricultural products in 2013, making it the seventh-largest agricultural exporter worldwide and the sixth-largest net exporter ¹.
      *Growth:*
      - The animal agriculture industry in India is growing rapidly, driven by government initiatives, technological advancements, and increasing demand for animal products ¹.
      While I couldn't find an exact figure for the worth of the animal agriculture industry in India, its significant contribution to the country's economy, employment, and production makes it a substantial sector.

      Cigarette smoking was considered healthy in the 1960s, even for pregnant women. The ad ran, Doctors prefer Camels. The wealthy tobacco industry, not Soros, had the mouths of the powers that be sealed. It took more than 7000+ research studies and many thousand deaths before the US Surgeon General came out to say that Cigarette smoking can increase the risks of getting cancer.
