I love that you left the soot inducer valve in the intake when you washed it lol! Gotta make sure it's clean! Just FYI when you do oil coolers on 6.0s after cleaning out the valley if you pre fill that valley with some oil that'll help it start up faster as that hole leads directly to the HPOP. When it's empty they will crank for a while, it's just a poopy design. Also the heads on 6.0s don't always leak because the lack of clamping force from head bolts. It's mostly from cupping that appears after a few to many heat cycles. Ford opted not to machine the heads on warranty work for two reasons, #1 they have a specific RA finish most machine shops couldn't achieve, and the heads were cast with so little deck material that taking even 6 thou off would jeopardize their structural integrity and the heads would crack. Ford even went down the rabbit hole of actually offering head studs as part of a recall kit, but they quickly found out it didn't work and the head cupping issue cause by inconsistent cooling during casting would only be truly resolved by machining which they can't do... it was a catch 22 scenario. So they said here!!! gasket slap it with these new super sticky "blue head gaskets" and hope it doesn't come back! Have a great day! "allegedly"

Your oil had to be hot enough to melt that oil filter housing tube. Meaning the oil cooler was probably 100% plugged. Also check your dummy plugs and stand pipes. High oil temps are hard on those o-rings, it's the gateway to high pressure oil leaks.

I’ve only changed the filter cap and o-rings on the IPR. Not actually had a valve go bad.
Some cheap upgrades. From a 6.7, get the starter, and get the 2 banjo bolts for the fuel feed to the common rails from a 6.4 for the front of the block. Flow 25% more fuel.
My next upgrades will be the ODawg intake. Way better air flow. And scrap the factory oil cooler and go with a good remote.

As you said though, "That's a real kick in the knockers! " Looking forward to seeing the resurrection for it as I know you have a lot of love for the 6.0 platform. For me and my money I'll keep pouring it into Dodge transmissions and keep running the tractor engines.

I was very happy when I sold mine and got rid of it. Then of course at 12 valve swapped my k3500 which has been an excellent truck. Got offered a very reasonable I'm out for it so looks like I'll be selling that soon. I went ahead and bought a blown up 2008 6.4 F-450. I remember when I visited PDD back in 2019, you and I talked about why the common rail was the superior engine, and I think I now agree. You should always check for steady crank off the starter wire next to HVAC fan. Definitely is weak on a couple cylinders by the way it’s cranking out of rhythm. I’ve had one of mine 275+ temps and haven’t seen that oil filter stand melt. Good luck with it but might just be worth finding a lower mile engine and stud it and throw it in there.

Almost all the trucks I've had up until a 3 months ago were fords - they were all gassers and they were great trucks. When I needed something with a Diesel - i steer'd clear of Ford - i've seen and have so many friends that were burnt by 6.0's and 6.4's and a service tech who flat out told me to buy the Cummins truck. (over the new 6.7 powerstrokes). So i bought a new '22 2500 Tradesmen specifically because it had a Cummins (not the biggest Dodge/Mopar fan). This video is just re-affirmation for me - i know the new 6.7 powerstrokes are good engines overall - but have been told that a few will come along and whenever they have an issue - its a huge issue that requires pulling the cab. Serviceability on these V8 Diesels seems to be a non-thought by the manufactures.

That sucks man... You'll get it straight. FORD gaskets plus ARPs will get it locked back down. My Father-In-Law worked for International when the "VT365" was being built, 6.0 as the Ford community knows it. Five 6.0 trucks in my immediate family at one point. In a Cummins now, but hold the 6.0 near and dear to my heart.
-Good call on swapping that Wix cap for a OEM Motorcraft one. The Wix cap HAS to be used with a Wix filter... The Wix filter is taller, as is the cap. A Motorcraft filter in a Wix cap will not close the bypass - not filtering any oil. No bueno.
-Rotella is good oil, T6 for those colder VA winters will do that HEUI injection system well. 6.0 is hard on oil - the HPOP will shear 40W to a 30W in 5k-ish miles - refrain from extended OCIs.... Oil is cheap, injectors are not.
-Coolant - any quality ELC without silicates will keep the oil cooler happy. Monitor Coolant/Oil temp deltas - 10 degree or less delta is acceptable.
Can be a super reliable rig once setup right - best sounding diesel on the planet if ya ask me!
    Keep the videos coming man!

Definitely wasn't as bad as your deal but when I bought my 06 megacab I thought I was getting something that didn't need a ton of work because the owner had told me it was taken care of. However, found out after I got it home that the pitman arm nut was only on by two threads and the entire front end was shot. Didn't see it during the test drive because we didn't get it past 45 mph (probably my fault) got lucky I didn't kill myself or someone else on the drive home with as terrible as it drove on the highway. Live and learn...old truck things lol

Yeah definitely I mean I don't sell stuff often but when I do I am fully honest if not to honest to the buyers and I usually give deals but when I found my 2004 ram 2500 quad cab it had a cm teuckbed flatbed on it which looks brand new still but it didn't have any bolts holding to the frame and the fuel tank was ratchet strapped on both straps and the guy told me the tranny was just rebuilt basically stock but new guts and I crawled under and he was right it is stamped one month before I bought it with a tranny shops stamp and everything and he said it had a nock which I could tell was an injector but I thought I got a deal which I did in a way but it ended up not shifting down into 1st or 2nd so had to get the governor pressure solenoid and transducer and the injector and all the wiring was just chopped to pieces all over and I drove 12hrs to Connecticut from north western PA where I live, to get it and it was night when I got there and because I didn't want to hurt the truck I winched it on the trailer but I got screwed because of the heat exchanger he didn't tell me about that was bad and the tranny not shifting down into 1st and 2nd and all the rigged stuff like none of the lights worked and they chopped into the bed harness to connect the flatbed lights and wires but never put any bolts in the flatbed to hold it to the truck so it could have flipped off anytime on the 12hr ride back home and I was none the wise because it was 10pm when I loaded it.. people are so shady anymore that's why when I find a truly just good person that I buy parts from I try to keep them as friends even if its long distance just because that way I know some honest people in this world..❤❤❤ GOD bless you and the family bud❤

Man I really don’t want to be negative butttt. Man I learned in 04 to stay clear of the 6.0! Everyone who attempts it always says iffff built they’re bullet proof. I’ve seen a lot of upset guys over that engine. But if anyone can do it right it will be you. Those I can’t even look at I know my luck.

I didn’t get burned………… I knew the last 6.4 and the 6.0 had mountains of issues before I brought them home LOL

What a pile it’s mind boggling why people buy these on the bright side the 6.0 single handedly keeps shops open because they are always breaking.

That truck was obviously treated like shit! Any engine Cummins, Duramax, or powerstroke if neglected will have problems.

Why not just common rail swap it? I'm sure you've got a block and ECM to spare

6 liter owners are usually the worst to my experience. Arguably a complicated engine with owners who have no idea how diesels even work. Love those trucks, just have to buy it from someone you know or they are the original owner. Then replace every failure point and put compounds on it😁
