    Great haul, Anna -excellent finds there!✨ I love the easy store hot-dogs in a jar! I canned spicy sausage with onions. I've changed my focus to more fruit pie fillings (fruit with sugar) already in tins. Prices have sky rocketed on those.😶 I wish I would've bought more of those in 2020 when they were only $2 for the larger tins at our dollar store. 🍷🍻Cheers! 🍷🎊 & have a great day, Ana💗

    Thank you Ana. Couscous is a great idea and fir those who need gluten free there is corn couscous which is yummy and super quick in the microwave.

    You can store flour in your freezer. Just make sure it’s in a waterproof package, just wrap in cling film or repurpose an already used plastic bag. It doesn’t freeze but keeping in freezer extends life as prevents weevils. Also makes flipping great pastry!!

      Hi Cazee.
      Wrong.
      Flour does freeze and it is not meant to be stored in the freezer long term.
      It isn't necessary to put flour in the freezer at all in the UK, our food hygiene standards are much higher than the States which is where "freezing flour" comes from.
      Essentially freeze the flour, thaw the flour, freeze the flour again.
      First freeze kills adult bugs.
      First thaw causes eggs to hatch larvae.
      Second freeze kills larvae.
      I have, just out of curiosity, allowed flour to run a year OOD, stored in the original bag.
      It was perfectly fine, no bugs, no fungi, just flour. It cooked fine.
      It tasted fine.
      There are ways of storing it for VERY long term storage, but it's not really necessary.

      @cazee100 Před 5 měsíci

      I’m not saying you should ONLY store in freezer, I’m saying it’s an option depending on where you live/ your choice. I’ve never had flour freeze, ever. And my freezers are at the recommended temps. I find pastry is lovely and light when using freezer stored flour. Each to their own though. 😊

    Great tips on the £10 challenge. I think it's worth trying the very cheapest brands like Tesco's Stockwell orcGrower's Harvest in case you ever have to use them. They can be quite poor but it depends on your tastes. But even if ypu economised on the hot dogs and used the spare 50p to move up a brand it shows what £10 can do.

    • @AnasFoodLifestyle
      @AnasFoodLifestyle  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thank you 😊 it is also advisable to try the brand before stocking up, just incase you dont like it and as you say tastes are so different so it is important

    No panetones left here except chocolate chip, which is terrible.
    There is never too much cheese! Vacuum-seal cheese to freeze next to forever and for even a year in the fridge.

    Panettone lasts a long time past expiry. We're working through one that expired last June.
    I like baking the sausages into a bread dough with fried onions and any leftover chutney.
    Last for days and warm up nicely on top of the toaster
