- These are a decent set of full tang utility scissors that can easily be adjusted or disassembled and sharpened and are heavy duty and much better then most kitchen scissors I have ever used and they are meant for use in the shop.
Autozone #57-010
They are the most awesome scissors I have ever bought! I keep them hidden in my toolbox so they don't "disappear!" I love these shears. I bought them on a whim when I was at Autozone. Love them!
Yep, you got to keep your utility scissors away from everyone else.
I keep a set of Wess scissors in the kitchen "junk drawer" for general use.
Tossed my KitchenAid scissors years ago. My current set of sheers (non-named generic looking brand) can be taken apart into two pieces for cleaning and sharpening. Great review on these Duralast. Thanks.
Kitchen scissors and utility scissors are completely different. Kitchen scissors is designed for breaking down chicken, cutting fruits or vegetables, herbs, etc. My Wusthof kitchen sheers do a great job in the kitchen but not so much in the shop or the wifes sewing room. Those utility sheers will definitely out shine in all the other areas, especially paper or those baggies. I biught a pair of the Milwaukee job site offset scissors and they are pretty tough.
Thanks for the review.
I've had a pair of Kershaw kitchen shears for eons... they also easily come apart for washing. To this day they work exceptionally well!
are those made in Japan by KAI, the owners of Kershaw? 😼
Hello again Catus Maximus and Tiny
Thank you for another Great Video 👍
Thanks for the excellent review, and your criticisms of scissors are the same as mine were when I went on a search for a decent pair. I didn't find these Duralast scissors, but I did find some made by Quinn, and many of the features are nearly identical to Duralast. They are available at Harbor Freight as Quinn 11" Shop Shear, and current sale price is $5.59 (regular price $7.99). I've had them for about six months now, and they are holding up very well. One advantage of the Quinn's is that they are not right-handed only. Either hand is comfortable using them.
oh NOO not the pacific rim DVD!
I prefer the Crescent Wiss red and black scissors. Very sharp and easy to clean.
I have the crescent wiss scissors. They have been great kitchen scissors
Ive got victorinox kitchen scissors which are great. Not seen these before.
Those wouldn't work very well for me because I'm left handed... No choice since I had a stroke back in March and my right hand is paralyzed now. It's starting to got better but I still can't use it very well. Very nice looking pair of scissors and another great video.
You should try harbor freight’s Quinn scissors! Bought a 3 pack for $5.99 works like a charm! $20.00 is outrageous
They've got heavier duty ones and small electrician ones now too.
I'd never convince my wife to switch. For her, kitchen scissors have to be dishwasher safe, and come apart so the blades can be washed separately. But we do have other scissors in the kitchen which are good for cutting plastic, and when she needs something heavier, she gets utility scissors from the garage. But I might get some of those Duralast scissors for the garage.
Handedness is about a lot more than handle shape. Ambidextrous scissors are literally impossible, unless they could be made to be disassembled and reassembled with the overlapping blades somehow reversed.
Dollar Tree Betty Crocker scissors.
Our local HF store had these for sale a while back under the Doyle brand. I bought two pairs for the house, one for the shop, the other for the kitchen. They are razor sharp! They are nice. They cut .005" steel shim stock with no problems.
Correction on the brand name, it is Quinn not Doyle as I quoted above. I noticed the steel portion does not protrude below the handles as it does with the Duralast scissors. Sorry for the miss quote. Ken
Kitchenaid is an appliance company, they only sell knives, shears and such to generate more income by giving consumers a simple, one-stop shopping experience. Not surprising their shears are meh.
There are plenty of a shears available from companies that actually have expertise in cutting tools, Tojiro, Shun, Kai, Lamsonsharp, Silky, etc. They cut extremely well and usually come apart for easy, thorough cleaning, something that you really should have in a tool for working in the kitchen.
But as with any high quality tool, they aren't cheap. Expect to pay more than the Duralasts.
Faberware too is piece of shot.. cant expect much they are marketed to the wamens .. gerber/fiskars pretty good at least the ones i have
All metal gingher fabric shears
